  1. Yeah learned my lesson the hard way, always more time than you can imagine needing. Like having to haul @$$ to make it to KD, the locals I stayed with later said "oops yeah we forgot to mention the horrible beach traffic" Sounds like 2 hours though should be plenty, barring something totally unforseen seems like that would be truly more than enough. I'll be coming from Harbor City btw. Thanks for all the tips guys, supremely helpful. SF, PCH, LA and SF:MM is going to rock, I just wish I had more time to take off for it all.
  2. Yeah kudos for Robb and TPR, ERT on pretty much the 4 I wanted, plus Lex Luthor and Full Throttle just to boot. Epic. Is it known yet what coasters will be at each ERT? Im hoping all the rides will be available for the morning because IDK if I can make it all the way...I petered out before making night ERT at Kings Dominion lol though it wont be 95 for this one I hope Also I am staying with a friend in South Bay, near the port. Not sure exactly where that is yet but how long should I give myself to drive from there to SFMM? I've heard about that infamous LA traffic, especially on a Saturday. I don't wanna trust google maps and I heard it may need like 2 hours?? Even at the time of the morning we'd be leaving at?
  3. Time for my obligatory check in: Guessing there's no actual update on FT? Also I'm ready to go for the first time in like 12 years, even if it needs to be solo! It's close enough and small enough I won't feel awful being forever alone
  4. I feel like this is a reactionary procedure put into place, not a proactive measure that would actually prevent an accident from happening. Really frustrates me when parks do things like this. Here's an idea - instead of making your employees do silly things on a ride platform to give an illusion of being safer, how about just ensuring they do their jobs really well...the same job ride operators have been doing for DECADES that have kept hundreds of millions of riders alive. --Robb Pffft too logical Robb, people would go balistic that "nothing is being done" thus the illusion of actually doing something goes on
  5. All I need is the rental car and this entire CA trip is good, I love how its double the price of my plane tickets, and I will be 25 by then to boot! Sheesh. But I probably won't make it out here again for who knows. I'm actually tempted to buy the KBF tix to get morning ERT then leave like an hour into the real day for the Airport to head home
  6. "better than nothing" guess it's a little less exciting than YOLO! but honestly, better than nothing is pretty much my expectation for the ride. Now it can only go uphill!
  7. Sure, and of course while you are right it can be dangerous and we know the risk, the risk is like .0001% assuming you don't do anything wrong. I am MUCH more likely to die driving to SFMM than on any ride there Anyway the stupidity annoyed me but I'm sure in another day the news will be dead and the power freaks that need to run everything will have to wait for the next tragedy on a ride to have their way!
  8. Hate to be "harsh" but while tragic, it isn't even the first time such a thing has happened. I know people have been thrown out of a train before. Never heard a peep of it. This one has gone full national media. I'm a bit of a mainstream media hater but yeah, America overreacts. It's what we do. Someone stubs a toe, if for whatever reason it gets "big" every American wants a flurry of swift action to keep it from happening again. I can't vouch for how other countries are, but yeah we overreact (based off gut not brain) to everything. How many hundreds of stories go huge just to burn out and no one cares? Very very sad what happened, just hope no one seriously tries to get the state involved and "regulate" rides now and etc etc etc I mean why can't so many take one minute...to look at the stats and see how safe rides are, and most accidents are rider/op failure not a ride issue, but nah now we have elected officials talking about rides "slinging kids at over 100 mph" and how "its not right" oi! rant end
  9. Yup, my paypal just cleared and the $64 is out of my account so I'm taking that as I'm good to go! For the Kings Dominion trip I just emailed Robb asking to verify that he recieved the payment, which he did and thus I was in, was quite nice about it as well. But yeah, once the payment clears all you need to do is wait patiently!
  10. Bit the bullet? I'll be missing the first week of class! lol I almost contemplated nixing this trip, then I smartened up
  11. Ha, well this is what I get for putting too much stock in what an enthusiast said! Can't wait to black out
  12. Well not full speed lol it always slowed it up pretty big But I heard rumblings, mainly from here, about it being "stepped up" and made it less forceful. Then again, I should know better than to listen toooo much to our fellow enthusiasts ha
  13. How forceful is Goliath these days? I know how legendary it was but I've heard it's been a bit tamed, and newer POVs do look like that MCBR slows it near stop...
  14. I have the time and more so...I won't be in CA again for, well it's taken me 11 years thus far So I can't miss out, the pics are too amazing. Yeah honestly I'm more or less just gunna drive it, and make a few brief stops like Monterey, Bixby Bridge, Big Sur but not dawdle too much. From what I can tell the Monterey to Santa Maria stretch is the best so I may do what you say and hop on 101 from there. I can handle 10-12 hours so I may just do it, crash in LA then SFMM is the next day. Regardless I'm stoked for everything, topped off with all that ERT Thanks all
  15. Thanks, if I do decide to do it in 2 days and stop for the night it actually was gunna be in Pismo Beach. I may not hit up the aquarium but I am planning to stop in Monterey as well, looks amazing.
  16. Good ol TPR trip to KD last year. I305 11 times, including 7 in a row. For a "normal" day, Storm Runner: 5 times. Kept going just to do it even though after the 3rd our shoulders were beat to crap.
  17. Not a ride issue per se, but it was the experience. On Mean Streak, 2 girls behind us were coked up (or at least it sure as hell seemed like it!!!) and it was kinda annoying how they were carrying on, but on the actual ride they were screaming top of their lungs from start to finish (yes up the lift) leaning forward like right by our ears, thrusting their arms forward in our faces. Ugh On Gemini we ascended the lift into a literal bug cloud. That was fun.
  18. I'll agree with another hill on MForce. Mean Streak RMC treatment. Iron Horse that thing! I'd replace all Intamin OTSR with B&Ms I'd like to put an "Itamin treatment" or "B&M treatment" on some old arrows. Like anaconda is cool, but it's so slow and rough...I'd like to put intamin track on there, keep the same basic layout but make it smoother, faster, more intense, better pace Remove the trims on so many B&M hills Redesign I305 finale. Remove the trims on that 3rd hill and remove next one and smoothen out the final twists. Like make it more of an "S" than abrupt twists. We could have supreme airtime and it'd lessen the neck snappage and etc! Make Volcano longer, like instead of hitting the final brakes maybe have it come back out and spiral around the mountain. Give hurler the RMC treatment. Need not be Iron Horse but just the topper track. I think it's a fun layout and could be decent if it was less deathy. Maybe make some of the hills smaller/add more to increase the airtime. Oh! Keeping it at Kings Dominion. Dominator is cool but so short, after the unique start it plows right into the MCBR and it's over. Feels like such a waste of speed. After the cobra roll I'd have it go into a zero g roll, a dive loop, maybe then an inclined loop and then into the MCBR.
  19. Trust me, that's not a shocker. Either that or your doing it wrong. Ha! You I like, if there's no award for best poster it needs to be made and given to you good sir. Well sweet, don't get me wrong a painful boring ride wasn't gunna stop me but glad it's not as bad as I feared.
  20. Always the side pocket my friend, I know no other way.
  21. You have to think about this? Bring on the SPF 50! It's the wallet that's holding me back, then again...I'm already going out here to live it up so why the hell not? Sorry to drift from park stuff but does anyone know if the PCH can realistically be done in a day? Making just a few brief stops along the way? I felt fine after 9 hours in the car, and 12 "on the road" going to Cedar Point and I didn't even use red bulls!
  22. Would be a shame to see since Colossus is such a classic but, just to avoid the whole debate, that's progress I guess. And from POVs it looks pretty....dreadful to be honest. Guess I can at least ride it at WCB, as well as Viper, THEN they can get ride of those classics! If Viper is as bad as The Great American Scream Machine I have advil ready!
  23. Yup, account been debited, guess there's no turning back now! Only detail left TBD is if I should be good and rent cheapest car possible, or rent a convertible...I do plan to drive the PCH from SF to LA after all
  24. Boulder Dash! Hit up Lake Compounce with a cute girl and since it was rainy...we did the whole park in an hour. Started and finished with BD, was epic
