That's because Christmas all year long doesn't mean shit if you can't have a beer. -

I was just about to start bitching (jokingly) about how I thought more work on the lift and drop would have been happening at this point. Then, I saw the big crane on scene. Shit's about to get real. Usually by the time I get to FoF my liver takes all of the pain. -

Damn. They're sure putting a lot of effort into Xcalibur. Has it been down for about two full seasons? I'm glad Six Flags is keeping it around, since it's unique. -

This sentiment is getting really annoying to me. How much of an important piece of history is Vortex in the grand scheme of pieces of history? Can't everything be classified as a piece of history? I flushed my toilet this morning after doing my business instead of keeping it around, despite it technically being an enjoyable piece of history... (special thanks to coffee) I buy fun cars and every vehicle I've owned has given me great pleasure to drive. They have all been very important in keeping up with the day to day routine in my life. In the Midwest, they've been vital to my employment, getting necessities to live, and recreation. Every vehicle I've owned has been somewhat of a significant piece of my own history and I can separate segments of my life's timeline and memories by which vehicle I had. Almost all of them have been my own personal record breakers for speed, handling, fun, and amenities compared to my previous cars. Many of my previous vehicles have life altering importance, such as my first ever vehicle which gave me freedom of transportation and knowledge of how to drive a manual transmission. It made it possible for me to get my first job bagging groceries. I even had one very important piece of shit Hyundai Elantra that I traded in a very nice car for, in order to pave the way to pay off all of my financial debts. I remember the first car my wife and I purchased as a unit, when we were engaged. It was her primary car and that Honda Fit 1.6 liter engine took her to work, took us to get groceries for our first apartment, hauled boxes to our first house, took wedding presents home from the reception, and transported us across the country in the dawn of our traveling hobby. Both of the aforementioned made vehicles were emotional to get rid of. Some of my vehicles even represent financial milestones, such as the first new car I ever purchased by myself, the first one I ever paid off, or the first one I ever purchased in full straight from the showroom floor. There were feelings of sadness with every vehicle I got rid of. (except for the 350z) Even the car I have now will likely take our first child from the hospital to its first home. My point is, although being somewhat of a car guy and making so many memories traveling in our vehicles, despite their sentimental value and historical significance our lives, my wife and I didn't keep any of them around. Sometimes you just have to get rid of one of your favorite toys and move on, when it makes the most sense to do so. -

I've never participated in this argument, but on one of my frustrating coaster facebook groups someone shared a video of Leviathan looking like it was going to valley during a cool day, a couple days ago. It was like sub TTD cresting slow. I'm not trying to get involved, but it just made me think of this discussion. I would have shared it, but I was on my phone. -

The construction crew has a curved track piece and two supports at the bottom of the first drop with the crane in position. When I checked about an hour ago it looked like the crew was looking over everything. I'm guessing this track piece will be put into place tomorrow. -
This is my first time in this thread. Great TR's. Their simplicity is painless and I like how you have a ton of photos. Looks like KI takes the cake again for The Haunt. We've been three times throughout the past four years and we love it. It usually involves a BAD hangover the next day. This year is a no-go for us. We can't go to anymore parks this year. Sucks.

That's hard to say, but considering Vortex is so visible I would imagine they're going to try to take it down sooner rather than later. I wonder if it's already in the budget right along with Orion's construction. Otherwise, that would have been one hell of a knee jerk decision. -

It's the ultimate spot for a Dive Coaster. That would be my first guess, but things could change within a few years. -

I have a serious question not related to the park's decision to operate coasters when they can clearly be operated. Would the cold weather be a factor with any maintenance or wear? -
The parks offer two similar, but different products. Some people prefer the product Cedar Fair offers over Six Flags. That doesn't necessarily mean they don't like Six Flags. There are clear differences between the two chains. At some point you have to realize you're arguing over personal preferences. You like Six Flags. Good for you. I think it probably does bring in people with lower incomes and I have no issue with that. The affordability is a good thing for most families who don't have the extra spending cash to travel. Most of the adults I see are really well behaved. On the other hand, I'm not trying to sound like a grandpa, but my issue with the lower cost is that it's more affordable for teens. Not only do the parents drop their kids off at the park to use it as a babysitter, but you also have other kids who can afford the passes on their own. I've experienced that the kids seem to be louder, more obnoxious, yelling and cursing across the midway, and verbally or physically fighting. Being surrounded by a ton of loud kids in a queue makes my wife and I feel more out of place. At CF parks I notice more adults our age.

How is it nitpicking to say I enjoy the clean lines and atmosphere of a Cedar Fair park? I'm not overly analytical when it comes to parks, because I pretty much don't give a shit about every minor detail. If I cared I'd probably go to Disney. But, I'll say that in my experiences Cedar Fair parks generally feel cleaner, better maintained, less juvenile, and the crowds are usually better behaved. As adults, my wife and I feel less out of place at Cedar Fair parks. She's not a "coaster nerd" at all. I also really like Cedar Fair's Fastlane system vs. any other skip the line options I've encountered. Cedar Fair also has a much more forgiving weather policy when it comes to closing parks early. It also seems like operations are better at Cedar Fair Parks. All of this comes with a higher price tag. There is clearly a different feel between the two chains and both have different strategies. Six Flags cashes in on more benefits for members, cheaper season passes, and they add at least one new ride to each park every year. Their business strategy is killing it, but that doesn't mean it caters to my tastes. Not everyone has to like Coke over Pepsi, dude. Saying that just because I prefer one overall experience that one brand offers over another is not nitpicking. Maybe I didn't articulate it well, because I didn't care to. But, these are my reasons based on my experiences.

Not once you get that bright big superloop put right in the middle of the pond by Patriot themed to Wonder Woman. The lighting package will look great when it opens in July. -

I loved The Boss last season for the first time ever. I'm of the opposite opinion where I'll take more tame and more comfortable on a traditional wooden coaster. A well maintained GCI is an exception. -

Third car front seat. Hips back lean forward. After a few beers that tactic it's awesome. Cap it off with night rides on Screamin Eagle and a dark AF ride on B:TR. If you come back I'll even buy you a delicious Bud Light!
