  1. Hey Zach! It's Brian, the lurker from the Safari Line at Great Adventure! I am considering heading down that way this weekend. How would you rate the experience? After that talk we had, I trust your opinion. Is the experience worth the 7 hour drive or would I be better served hitting Kings Dominion which is only about 2 hours from me? Hey! I was wondering if I'd hear from you. We went a few years ago during Fury's first year and we had a blast. Carowinds is such a compact park that you don't have many dead areas that lack Halloween themeing. The Haunt lines moved pretty quick, but we only did a couple. I wouldn't go without Fast Lane Plus and the Fast Lane/Fright Lane combo seems to be the way to go. The only down side was that there were really long lines for beer and we have a tradition of drinking a lot during our annual Halloween park trips... Either way, if you haven't ridden Fury it would be worth the trip. I'm sure King's Dominion has a good Halloween event too and I've heard Busch Gardens Williamsburg's Halloween event is really well done. I don't think there's a bad choice between the three of them. PS: We completely pissed away $250 on our Flash Passes the day we saw you at Great Adventure. The Safari was the only time they paid off. Everything else had less than a five minute wait, as I'm sure you saw.
  2. Strippers, food trucks, and cheesecake? It sounds like Cedar Point is the place to be this Halloween season.
  3. Thanks for sharing. Nice pictures.
  4. Awesome thread. Thanks for sharing.
  5. No. There aren't. Even then, the financial relevance is the overwhelming percentage of the general public to enthusiasts. Enthusiasts aren't the bread and butter. Also, Pro tip: Visit a park before having such a strong opinion about their brand new extremely expensive roller coaster. Diamondback vs. Orion: You're comparing one coaster you've never ridden to another coaster that hasn't been constructed.
  6. Phantom's Revenge is a hyper due to the 2nd drop that uses the terrain. No one ever second guesses that, but it's not a B&M so no one cares enough to criticize it. Then again, maybe it was just constructed before people cared about stupid bullshit like roller coaster classification differences between 13 feet. https://rcdb.com/123.htm I'm glad the ride height is only 287 feet tall just to give people something pointless to cry about.
  7. I don't think you're going to see RMC Boss or a Raptor. Our park doesn't need a new roller coaster as much as we all want one. I think it will be many more years before we see a new coaster.
  8. During my two nights at Scarowinds at 10pm the parking gates were backed up and people were still trying to get in. Waits for rides were several hours long. We waited about 10 minutes or less for each ride on Fury...
  9. Yeah. That's a good idea. Maybe that will happen.
  10. I don't understand the complaints about Fury's helix. It slows near the top, but then it picks up its speed again on the way back down. It also has a nice head chopper.
  11. Maybe Tidal Wave will neat out Xcaliber to become the next Hanibarrels. I was thinking about going to the park today, but I just read my email and saw that it's BAFF day. Shit. It was going to be the first visit of the year, but now I'm apprehensive.
  12. Beer, Dinner, Beer, Wheel, Blues game with more beer, Taco Bell, Bed. Looks like I just added $30 into the equation. Probably a one and done in that formula, though. I hope I'll get a nice view of the homeless encampments.
  13. I think with Leviathan, Banshee, and especially Fury, B&M shows that it still has what it takes to make kick ass rides. I'd bet my next paycheck that Orion is going to be one of those coasters where people get more out of it than they expect. This is B&M's giga and I'm sure they're getting into their 300 foot groove. Some people might question Banshee's intensity, but I think it's there. It's hard to compare it to other inverts since it kind of rides like a swooping hyper rather than the old school quick transitions that people are accustom to. It's a speed demon.
  14. I don't understand why GCI would need to come in and retrack American Eagle. The park can do track repair in house and I'm sure it's done pretty frequently. Six Flags can allot more funds for it on an off season if it gets to the point where it really needs it. I doubt the trains are at the end of their life cycle. Parts aren't very hard to find. Kennywood's Thunderbolt trains weren't near the end of their life cycle at 40 years old... I also wasn't aware the lap bars were uncomfortable and that it would be that much of a problem to keep them. That, and I don't understand why all of a sudden the queue is a problem when it's been like that for a long time. Why spend the money to change it? He just wanted to take the opportunity to tell you all about his RMC dream. You can't even make mention of a traditional wooden coaster anymore without someone saying it should get the RMC treatment and telling you all about their fantasy layout. Looks like Batman is here to stay.
  15. I won't intrude on too much of your family time, but I'd love for you to have a beer with Emily and I. It all just depends on when we're off.
  16. This is the most creative advertisement for Kings Island's Haunt that I've seen yet.
  17. I really liked Leviathan. If Orion can be on that level or better this thing will kick ass.
  18. Me. And my wife. MF over Steel Vengeance along with Maverick, Valravn, and Top Thrill. Fight me.
  19. No, dude. The feeling is nothing like a drop tower. Don't over think it. Ride one. Sit in a middle row for the most mild experience. Have fun. If big coasters gave the kind of feeling you're fearing then very few people would ride them.
  20. Stunning pictures. I stole #3 for my laptop background picture.
  21. Not to mention landscaping, signs, rails, shade (lol), etc.
  22. I think that's key. If I'm going to day dream about a family roller coaster I would like to see something like KK's new Kentucky Flyer. Regardless, I don't see a new family coaster happening in any form.
  23. James definitely has the right idea by saving cost and doing the queue upgrades now, but Six Flags just isn't spending that kind of jack for unnecessary changes. I'm glad the new addition is being positively received by enthusiasts. It's really been a while. I'm excited to give it a try. I just hope it doesn't have too much flipping. My last ride on a S&S Free Spin was brutal, which differed from my other experiences. I would have rather had a Zamperla Discovery, but this will be a nice change from mild attractions. With the changes taking place on this side of the park that I would guess that Tidal Wave will be back instead of leaving a void on the other end.
