TPR 2018 Coaster Poll Results!
prozach626 replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A lot of these were really surprising to me. I thought Fury would have been a lot higher, but I'm biased since it's probably my favorite. Great job and thanks for doing it! -
Six Flags St. Louis (SFStL) Discussion Thread

Unfortunately, I've never been. The couple of times we've tried to go over the last few years the traffic line to get into the park seemed to be nearly an hour. Even though we decided to park our car from a significant distance and then walk toward the entrance the line to get in seemed to be nearly an hour as well. Both times we tried to go it wasn't much later than opening. I've heard it's great. But, like I said, get there early. Hopefully we just tried to go on days where it was exceptionally busy. -
It doesn't seem that Six Flags has no intentions of rushing this ride. Why should they? It's free advertising for tickets later in the year. Since so many guests are already season pass holders I wouldn't think that Maxx Force not being open is going to keep them from coming to the park, spending money, and bringing guests during discount days. I personally see Six Flags as being the 'Walmart of Parks,' to an extent and I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing. It works for Six Flags and I'm glad they're doing well due to the current business strategy. Maxx Force will eventually open. It just may take a while. I wouldn't hang my hopes on every pile of dirt being moved that it will be open by the end of May.

^^ Meanwhile, at Six Flags St. Louis... Your logic is undeniable. Although the clearing is getting pretty close to The Beast, it could be a good thing. Maybe they plan on doing a quick trip through the dark woods for a short portion of the ride. Whatever the case, the park recognizes the novelty of The Beast at night. I'm sure they won't ruin the experience. Regardless, this is going to be the best Log Flume we've seen so far. -

You need to get to Grant's Farm as early as possible. When you're at the zoo make sure to ride the train. -

Were the chicken wings the typical chewy and blubbery fast food service wing or are they close to actual tender smoked wings? -

What information do we really have that can indicate the red area will be cleared? There's no deep down inside, man. From what I understand, it's already pretty much confirmed to be a B&M. -

I'd rather enjoy the city's attractions on Saturday when there's a little more buzz in the air. Although I haven't been in the Arch in probably fifteen years, I think I remember that you should get there pretty early to avoid a long wait. I would personally go to the St. Louis Zoo during the day. If you are interested in art, the St. Louis Art Museum is great. I've heard Gran'ts Farm is great, but we've never gone early enough to avoid at least an hour wait to get inside... My advice is to visit City Museum at night and it should be open late on a Saturday. Try St. Louis Pizza if you get a chance. Ragazzi's on The Hill is a popular place to get St. Louis style pizza and Toasted Raviolli. Imo's Pizza is a quick fix for both if you're willing to save some time. It's a St. Louis staple. I also recommend Shaved Duck as a place to eat for more of a hipster place. Do Six Flags on Sunday. I doubt you'll need a Flash Pass. Wait it out and see. It's not a terrible park, but it really is a one day only park. There's no need to go back for a second day, unless there's something you absolutely love. Boss tip: Middle car. Front seat. Grab the bar in front of you. Lean forward during the ride. Keep your butt back. I enjoy riding the Boss exclusively this way. It's not so much as a "Hands Up" kind of ride. It likes to beat you up if you don't ride it defensively. When taking the proper defense measures, as I specified, I love it. Your tolerance for discomfort may be different than mine, but until last season I despised The Boss. There's no real stand out ride, but Screaming Eagle is as close to a novelty as the park has. Don't sit on a wheel seat. Play it safe on your first ride and sit near the middle of the train for maximum smoothness. Ride it at night. The entrance can be difficult to find, but it's all the way up the hill past superman. It's a far cry from the classic non-ADA entrance, but it's necessary. Screaming Eagle, Batman, Mr. Freeze, and American Thunder are usually the coasters unanimously liked and are worth re-rides (IMO). Our Batman is probably my favorite of the BT:R clones. To me it just feels more aggressive than most and it has a mirrored layout. Mine train is lame in a lovable and fun way. It's a classic. The Ferris Wheel provides nice views. We have a really nice train. Our free fall is really fun, since it's on elevated terrain. Star Flyers are always good. Our JL is the first gen and if you've ridden it elsewhere and it's not a 'must ride' attraction for you, it's worth skipping. It usually holds a long line. Thunder River is a good rapids ride. Our flume is not by any means the largest or the best, but it's decent and it's a classic. The trip through the wooded area is neat. Tony Hawk is standard, but again the setting is nice here. Again, it's surrounded by trees. The Coney Dogs place is a pretty good place to eat. Massive dogs with the option of Chili and Cheese. JB's has a nice patio to sit out, people watch, and enjoy a beer. The chicken place near mine train has a few shaded tables to enjoy a beer or a snack, too. The suck: Security gates ruin the classic entrance. Antique cars are hilariously short and not worth riding. Ninja is nearly unanimously hated. You'll get your steps in on Batman's queue, which some people say is a bad thing. I personally don't mind. Xcalibur is still down. Even if you're like me and prefer not to ride it, it provides really cool visuals. You'll have a good time. -

^I wish I understood the hype for gliders, period. I think it's safe to say that you're riding with a bunch of wussies. (That's the PC word for something else.) -

I would personally go directly to SV. Then, I'd go to Maverick. After that, depending on how close it would be to 10, I'd go wait at Dragster entrance until opening if it looks like it's testing -

Wow. I had no idea I would have to allot myself that much time. I really appreciate your feedback. Did you ride it? Sounds like your attitude really sucks, dude. I'll just quote myself from an earlier post: And most of those people are one of the reasons I only communicate with a few unlucky enthusiasts outside of these forums. -

^I agree. The tour is really cool. I remember the first time we went they offered a wine tour package where you received a souvenir Busch Gardens glass. There were three or four wine stations to visit where you received a sample or two from each. Germany, France, Italy, and maybe one other. We had a good time with that and we still occasionally use the glasses.

We just sent in our paperwork so we can go to CW. I know we're missing out on a lot worldwide, but there's also still so much we want to do in the US. We're in our early/mid 30's. I have no doubt we'll make it overseas several times in our lives. When it happens we'll do a package tour like we contemplated when planning our summer. I have no interest in going to Mexico, so a few days in Canada is our baby step. Speaking of which, how long does it take you to get through a border crossing? We'll be heading from NYC to the Canadian side of Niagra Falls. Also, how much earlier should we get to the airport when taking our flight back home from Toronto? -
Lie. The last few times I went they didn't sell Coors Light or Yuengling in the Festhaus. Thanks for the info on QQ. We've had it a couple times, but never when the park has sold out of them. And yes. Verbolten's loading always seems to be a shit show. It's like a 20 minute wait once you get into the station.

Parks people NEED to go to
prozach626 replied to RoxasBraveheart's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Cedar Point is the starter pack. Most people new to the game absolutely love it. Try to stay at Breakers resort for the full experience. This is a two day park. Budget for Fast Lane Plus. Trying to be unbiased, here are some other big dogs as far as coaster count/quality go: Hershey Park (PA) (Has a resort for a unique experience) Carowinds (SC/NC) King's Dominion (VA - One hour from Busch Gardens Williamsburg) King's Island (OH - Cincinnati area. Few hours from Cedar Point) Canada's Wonderland (Toronto) Knott's Berry Farm (Assuming you've been) Six Flags Great Adventure (NJ) Six Flags Over Texas (TX) Six Flags Great America (Chicago) Six Flags Magic Mountain (Assuming you've been) Six Flags Over Georgia (Atlanta) Busch Gardens Williamsburg (VA) Busch Gardens Africa (Tampa) (Close to Orlando) Other Noteworthy Theme Park Experiences, some of which are less coaster oriented: Silver Dollar City (Branson) Dollywood (Pigeon Forge/Gatlinburg) Holiday World (Especially if you're into wooden coasters and one hell of a water park) Knoebels (Close to Hershey Park. Very few coasters, but very unique) Six Flags Fiesta Tex (Few hours from Six Flags Over Texas) Sea World Orlando (A few really good coasters and a ton of marine life entertainment) Kennywood (Pittsburgh) Lagoon (Utah) Kentucky Kingdom (Louisville) Most of these are parks that any coaster buff would like to check off of their list. -

Everything about that video was shocking. Good. The last thing we would want is any kind of legal deterrent or consequence for a mob action involving 300 potential suspects. -

It seems like there are only a couple moments where the train slowed. As much as enthusiasts bitched and moaned about the portion over the MCBR I see nothing wrong with the decently tall dive, what appears to be a pop of air time, and a nice tight helix. Just another Valravn clone... -
