Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

B&M Hypers are great. They're huge. They're fast. They're fun. Almost everyone enjoys them. Most of us tend to take this hobby less seriously or aren't interest exclusively in extreme thrills. A lot of us appreciate the park providing such a large scale coaster and support HP because of it, which makes us appear like we're not spoiled bitches. -

Between the two sandwiches my wife and I had last year, they were excellent and unique. In my experience, it was one of those fun Friday night places you'd want to go to in order to have a couple beers and a fun/delicous meal. Then, you factor in that this one is inside of CP. It's great. Despite not being a huge guy, I have a huge appetite. But, I recommend splitting a sandwich with someone. They were massive. -

^Thanks. That's kind of what I was hoping to hear. With similar crowds during our visit last year it made almost every ride walk-on. It was one of our best park experiences. Thanks. We don't marathon rides, but we like being able to roam around parks and ride when we feel like it, without spending much time in line. Showing up early and trying to somewhat rush our rides isn't really our purpose. FL+ is really conducive to how we like to enjoy parks. My concern is that I don't want to purchase $300 worth of FL+ and feel like an idiot when the normal lines are only a few minutes longer than the FL+ lines. That happened to us a SFFT about ten years ago and it left us feeling like idiots when everything was a station wait. Like i said though, if we can save 10-20 minutes per ride it will be worth it for us. We're lucky enough to always have the budget for FL+, so we're spoiled and would rather go without than wait in lines. I just want to avoid looking like an idiot, even though I've built up a tolerance for that due to frequent occurrences of looking like an idiot. -

I'm expecting measures to increase in all parks and chains over the next several years. Except for maybe Knoebels... I know there are exceptions where phones accidentally fell from pockets which were believed to be secured, but this is another prime example of a few people ruining things for everyone. -

Don't remind me!! My son has already asked me to confirm whether Volcano really is done for good!! My fault for not getting to KD earlier!! We are both consoled with I305 and Twisted Timbers though...which are the two rides we are most looking forward to. Thanks for the advice, appreciate it....and I will take the wait and see approach. I pretty much figured that it would be similar to Canada when the kids are still in school, but always good to get the local and expert opinion. When I'm really skeptical of crowds, I usually try to give it until noon to make my decision, which almost always... well... always... ends up in favor of FL+. If you're like me, shaving 10-20 minutes off of queues to parks I rarely visit is worth it. It will probably be worth it for TT, alone if RMC hybrids are your thing. -

Less than a month away for our trip on Sunday, 06/09 and Monday, 06/10. We plan on getting FL+ and I hope we can put it to good use, even if that only means shaving 10-20 minutes off of queues. I just don't want to spend a couple hundred dollars and find out that we were dealing with station waits all day and feel like idiots. Last trip on Saturday/Sunday in May, during coaster campout, the park wasn't too busy, but it made every ride pretty much walk-on for us. I'm hoping for a similar experience.I like to feel like I got my money out of FL+. Last year there were scattered thunderstorms on Saturday and Sunday was chilly with constant drizzle, but FL+ was still a bargain for the aforementioned use we got out of it. Something for us to take into consideration is that Coaster Stock is that weekend and the fun run is on Sunday (I think). That being the case, I wonder if everyone will be played out by Monday and FL+ won't be worth it. Can anyone else who has more CP experience speculate? -
My wife and I will be spending two days in NYC. I've seen past TR's where you guys take pizza tours and you went with Scott's Pizza Tours, right? I was hoping you could make a suggestion on which tour to take for a couple mid-westerners wanting to sample some of NYC's best pizza. Also, do you have any suggestions for a guided tour where we can enjoy a good overall sight seeing experience? The hop-on / hop-off bus tours seemed great in theory. But, after reading reviews it sounds like you spend a ton of time waiting for the busses in between stops with no guarantee there will be any available seats. We're looking to make this as easy and as stress free as possible for ourselves. Thanks, Zach

This thing isn't stopping at 285 feet. It's going to be within the giga classification. CF/KI wants to be able to market this roller coaster as 300 feet, or at the very least the drop will be 300 feet. Yeah... That's a little excessive. After you said that I looked at a lot of top-down views of other hypers/gigas and you're right. GP? Nah. Even very few enthusiasts thought it was weird to have those combinations in the park after the first week Leviathan was open and the reviews came out. I also don't hear anyone who visits Holiday World who are puzzled because there are three similarly constructed wooden coasters in the park with different layouts. This will work. -

I'm skeptical of the blue prints. How official are they? If they're legit, it leads me to believe that this is a very basic out and back giga or that it's not a giga at all. At first glance, Diamondback's layout seems much more interesting. It doesn't make all that much sense to me. -

Your wondering has turned dreams to reality. Those Mother FFfkers!! We missed it by one year! Luckily lines weren't bad at all. I don't think we ever waited more than 20 minutes for anything. I've been meaning to post that TR... from July, 2018. -

I wonder if they'll bring back the Fast Pass Unlimited idea that they started to advertise before last season. I was pretty pumped when I first heard about it and really let down when they suddenly removed it from their site. It might be a good time to kick it off when the large expansion is finished. wtf? -

It's just a themed event. The themed Mardi Gras event had no involvement with anyone who organizes events on Bourbon Street. Same thing. -

^ The brown is for Hershey. I don't know if the gray pieces have been painted or if they're primer, like I suspect. What do you think the slats on the spline are for on the assembly to the right? That chunk of track seems pretty beefy. A portion of the lift, maybe? -

Um. It sounds like they are learning how to staff correctly. This is smart business and there are plenty of other attractions open. Try going to a park like Kennywood where some rides don't even open before noon. Exterminator was the only ride open for the first 30 minutes during our visit last summer.
