  1. I think that, as simple as Kinga Ka and TTD can get, the ride I don't really understand at all is Stealth at Thorpe Park. I mean, the first ones may only have a launch and a top hat so, yes, they are a one trick pony but provide (or provided) record breaking speed and height: that was their "job". Stealth (and Zaturn), on the other hand, do just the same but without the ridiculous speed or height which is sort of the point of this kind of ride. I know they aren't exactly slow or small but none of those figures is impressive in any way so they're almost a zero trick pony. (the only thing that stands out is the acceleration which still was never close to breaking any records) Don't get me wrong, I've never been on either but that's what I think.
  2. ^I think the exact same thing happened with Katun.
  3. ^Just like the helix on "the supermans".

  6. ^Yeah that does make sense. But it's interesting that there is such a big margin. Do other systems like LSM also have this? If so, I guess it would not be as simple as it may be with the hydraulic ones as they would require different programming on the magnets to launch the train at different speeds, am I right to say this? Because I somehow get the feeling that they wouldn't do much more than they usually do, partly because their launches are so consistent.
  7. ^^I think Kinga Ka's system has something like 20 000 hp but it usually only uses around 11 000. Can this be because the mechanism will lose power over time and, therefore, they originally have quite a big margin? Because differences in wind, temperature or weight of the riders would certainly not require so much extra power (I suppose).
  8. ^That's actually a great idea! Very well thought out, sir.
  9. If this confirms and they do use the vest-style restraints without the vest that's pretty much all they have to do to be able to feature lap bars on their rides without floors, which means they could start applying it to their future looping rides. I do hope so.
  10. Doesn't hydra also do this? It doesn't have any drive tires on the bottom of the lift.
  11. If this means RMC will still design the rides and vekoma will just sell them, that's awesome news! Can't wait to see one here in Europe!
  12. But B&M is not exactly the first manufacturer that comes to mind when it comes to family rides given that they've never made such thing, is it? If it is really true, I will be surprised (and not positively).
  13. Look at the girl in the back of the second car. She just appears to be scratching her face as if nothing special was happening.
  14. Well what a massive update! Looking nicer and nicer. Can't wait for the finished product!
  15. ^I had actually thought of that. Either that or lower the hill a lot.

  17. And also the way the ride sounds! If it is a B&M that's crucial as I do really think the roar enhances the ride experience. I agree with a couple of opinions: they can be accurate although I do think the ride usually feels a bit better once you've ridden it and there are some exceptions like skyrush (as someone has mentioned most of the POVs make it look kind of boring). So far, though, I've never been tricked by a POV into thinking a ride is better than it actually is.
  18. I actually don't like the way flat track looks at all except when it's sued for station/transfer track/brake run. The one that irritates me the most isn't actually an inversion, it's the superman/ride of steel's helix as there are so many supports that it looks ridiculous. That's why I like non flat track a lot more, it looks better (in my opinion) and it doesn't need as many supports and, to me, the fewer there are, the cooler the ride looks (like on the intamins with the new double-tubular track).
  19. Yeah I do remember that feeling: I thought the launch was over but there was one more burst of power which, actually, was when we hit the speed that makes your face flap (I think it must be around 120 mph as on TTD it wasn't very clear). However, I also remember KK launch being more forceful than TTD and I rode then within a 4 day period.
  20. I think both these rides are a lot better in the front seat with the difference that KK gets rougher towards the back row and so TTD is a lot more re-ridable if you're not in the front.
  21. ^^I remember the first time I rode kingda Ka (2 years ago) I took two rides on row 3 and I thought it was a bit rough. However, this year, even after having ridden the front 4 times I took my final two rides in the middle and it was ok, not great but fine.
  22. American Beauty (film)
  23. Every single B&M should be this intense! And this loud too!
  24. ^That's right, I mean, riding Kingda Ka in the front was a great experience and some of the most intense 20 seconds I've experienced on a coaster. But having to wait so long for such a short ride just seems a bit ridiculous. We had flash pass when we went there this summer and that's why I bothered to ride it 6 times.
  25. Wow the theming is looking great! I have high hopes on this ride when it comes to forces, I expect it to be more intense than the other wing coasters (which isn't really hard).
