  1. Nice!! About the brakes issue, I guess we'll have to wait to be able to tell where the actual braking starts as it is easier to feel it than to see it. Anyway, this should be one hell of a ride!

  3. ^I had never ridden Stampida but, as I had already said, I also noticed heavier braking on shambhala's MCBR. Now I wonder how this is controlled: do they change the "settings" of the ride? Is it something that could happen without anyone doing it? BTW, on Friday there were quite a few closed restaurants. Is this normal for portaventura?
  4. Now that my parents are considering a trip to London I have some hope I will go to Thorpe Park, but I'll have to wait...
  5. If every time you hear someone talking about about parks or coasters you feel like it is your duty to step into the conversation and provide them with some important information. Actually, if I think about it, it's a bit of a show off
  6. Last August (23rd, 25th and 27th). When was the last time you were in a park since the gates opened right until it closed?

  8. ^Haha. I thought the same thing! I find this photo super funny. And.... is that duct tape on his hand?
  9. I don't usually bash six flags at all. I love the fact that they have nice sets of rides at their parks. It's just that, looking at that list of names, I feel that I've seen most of them. It's not that other chains don't do it, but these would all be main attractions and I think they could bother to come up with some new names. Anyway, if this list of rides is actually about to happen, I won't care about the names at all.

  11. Looks like a really nice collection of rides. Hope this actually happens. I just find it unnecessary that SF repeats ride names so much.

  14. Last August. When was the last time you waited over 1h30 min to ride a coaster?
  15. Had a big pleasant surprise yesterday at portaventura: stampida! Based on what I had heard, I was expecting a terribly rough ride. However, while it wasn't smooth, I didn't find the roughness that unpleasant. I might have sat in the front but none of my schoolmates who rode it closer to the back complained. I don't have a lot of wood coaster experience have have definitely never ridden a top one (the best ones I have been on were lightning racer and blue streak) and so this will deserve high spot on my list as I found out it had plenty of moments of air and some strong laterals. It was, overall, a really fun experience.
  16. Great pictures. They really show how much air (and hai) time there is on this ride! I couldn't stop laughing because of the flying sunglasses. I also noticed that the running wheels weren't even touching the track during those moments of strong air, wow that must be intense!
  17. ^I didn't realise it was that bad when I rode it. But I did notice a moment of zero g at the top of that loop (which I had never felt). I too hope this is temporary. I thought a coaster like this that had been running for 18 years with the MCBR doing almost nothing every time would stay the same forever, but I guess I wasn't right . By the way, I did notice that the operations were rather crappy yesterday. Two trains running on shambhala and DK with over 1 hour long lines!? Come on! You could tell they were slow because with shambhala pretty much as soon as one left the station the other would arrive and with DK we had to sit on the brake run for quite a while before the other one was dispatched.
  18. ^An RMC coaster war anywhere would be great!
  19. OMG! That sidewinder... I'm speechless.
  20. ^Oh so namtab really is only for spring. So that's how six flags over texas will get theirs in the summer.
  21. This ride looks amazing! And I'm sure it will reach the top wooden rides quickly. I know I'm late but I was out for the week with no internet access and now I'm back and see this About the steepness discussion, given that skyrush manages an 85 degrees drop with eight cars, I'm sure a ride about 250-300 feet could do a vertical one. It would still provide insane negatives, but would be possible.
