Ghost Town In The Sky Discussion Thread

I'm not liking the odds of Cliffhanger being saved from what I'm seeing around lately. This is a quote from the park's Facebook Page in response to a question asked about the coaster. -
Although I haven't ever used the smartphone ticketing it seems like an awesome concept. Can you expand on how it works at the parks? Is it solely for single day purchases or does it somehow apply to passholders as well? I noticed a smartphone scanner sign the other day at CGA and thought it was great seeing it there as well. On a separate note, I had sworn to myself that I would go nowhere near DCA until way after the opening of Cars Land but thanks to my family's insistence I will be there later this month. Wish me luck.

I will second your sentiments about CFK at CGA. Was definitely a great bunch of folks that made the best of a potentially frustrating situation. My friend and I still managed to get in 40 rides on Flight Deck by sticking around there most of the day. I especially enjoyed being able to share why we were riding with other park guests (and even the ride ops) who seemed to ask us quite a bit throughout the day. I plan to weed through my pictures tomorrow after a little rest to see if there is anything worth sharing.

What are amusement park necessities?

Deep fried Twinkies. -
Are there any CGA thread regulars that are not participating in Coasting for Kids that plan on being at the park this Sunday? I am hoping to still be feeling well enough after the marathon to get over and check out the progress on the land clearing, etc for the new coaster, but we'll see how that goes.

Anyone have any recommendations for newer punk bands? Don't get me wrong, I love the old stuff...just trying to bring in some variety.

I use the following line from "Sheep Go To Heaven" by Cake as my life motto: "As soon as you're born you start dying, so you might as well have a good time."

Would you boycott a park?
gromithere replied to DenDen's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
As as consumer, I would more likely boycott a park (or any business for that matter) over their business practices than for any political or social causes they may or may not support. -
The only other option I had imagined was what was being done at some of the other parks where it was a set amount of time on several rides. That being said, I'm very glad it's on Flight Deck AND very glad for the 10:00 start time as opposed to earlier since I'll be making a 3 hour drive in that morning. Keeping in mind that I have NO information about it, but unless I heard otherwise I had planned on just showing up...assuming they'll have a master list of participants and just check ID's to confirm if necessary.

I've always been a bit hesitant of the Holy Land concept in an amusement park since it was announced, but I guess we'll see how that plays out IF all goes well with the progress of the first two phases. Perhaps it is something that will set it apart from other parks enough to bring crowds that may not normally visit an amusement park. -

Ghost Town has announced a new website where they will be posting updates on the progress of the park. There isn't a lot to it at this point, but I'm hoping they keep it updated often. The url is www.ghostowninthesky.com/ (only one "t" in "ghostown") Up until this point they've been using their Facebook Page for updates. I imagine they will likely keep updating there as well. -
Looks like I need to clean up the desktop a bit more...
