Saw Dirty Dancing in Sacramento a couple of weeks ago and I was pleasantly surprised. I think it helped that I went in with exceptionally low expectations. Not among my top musicals by far, but I would give it a solid C grade.

So, I was curious if anyone happened to have any inside information about the Great Dane Coaster at Scandia in Sacramento? It seems to have been being constructed for an extremely long time. To the best of my knowledge, they started re-assembling the Wild Mouse from Casino Pier early last summer, and then construction stalled. I took the following pictures in September, but I just drove past the other day, and it seems to be in the same state:

Go Pros and Coasters
gromithere replied to sirspud's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I think the other point to be made is that there are so many awesome videos of practically every ride out there (of course including the awesome TPR videos). Even disregarding the fact that it is not allowed, why would one bother? My thought has always been to just leave it to the folks that have the relations with the parks and get the permission. -
I generally only do Kong if I am visiting with someone who has never been to the park before and wants to ride it. So, inevidably I groan, tell them they will regret it, then get in line. If anyone has any tips on how to convince others that it is a bad idea, THAT is the advice that woukd really come in handy.

2014 ChrisHanKwanSivus Gift Exchange!
gromithere replied to Brandy524's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Ok I am in just in the nick of time! Whew! So, what am I into? Hmm...I actually like park souvenirs even if I haven't been there. Shot glasses are awesome. Love Walking Dead, Nightmare Before Christmas, LA Dodgers. IDK...anything random and awesome would be great! Looking forward to participating again this year! -

Oops. Only read the first post before replying. Haha. Thought this was for 2014 and didn't read more. Sorry! -
Why unfortunately? It has gotten better in recent years. I would be upset to see it go, but it won't happen for a long time. Why does that make it an "unfortunate event for you? It's unfortunate because no matter how much you retrack it, its not going to be a thrilling ride. Its pretty boring IMO. Could the park use the space for another world class coaster? SURE! Would they get rid of such an iconic family coaster? NOPE! The unfortunateness is leaking from every pore of this post. Oozing, almost. This post is moist. Whoa there! I think calling Grizzly "iconic" is a bit of a stretch.

Possibly the shortest trip report ever... Went to SFDK yesterday and arrived to see TONS of school and chartered busses. Went in the park to find thousands upon thousands of annoying unsupervised teenagers in packs. Checked out Superman and Roar and lines were crazy long considering it was just after park opening. Left after 20 minutes. Damn I sound old. Took the short trip to the Jelly Belly factory instead, and a good time was had by all. Moral of the story...don't go to the park the last week of school.

Did a quick drop in at SFDK yesterday on my way to the Giants/Dodgers game. Bad outcome on the game in my opinion, but at least I got some rides in and had a great day! Crowds were way lighter than expected as I assumed Spring Break would jam the park a bit. However, it was pretty much walk-ons for every ride. Took some construction pics while I was there. Looks like track work is still going on at Roar, and Tsunami Soaker work is moving right along... No tears lost that Hammerhead wasn't open. Nice day for a walk on the tracks. Digging holes and stuff. Ooooooh. Ahhhhhh.

I absolutely love this quote! The one thing I have noticed with a lot of the bandwagon followers of Blackfish and this petition, is that once you provide them with some educated opinions on the matter, they tend to shut up because they don't have enough knowledge to fight back. Been my experience anyway. I do not by any means consider myself an expert on the subject, however I have taken the time and effort to listen to both sides of the argument, which the majority of these "activists" have not.

The definition of a Roller coaster
gromithere replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I generally tend to go with my gut instinct on whether or not I consider a ride a coaster or not. I would say that the majority of my "gut instinct" is probably based on the type of car/train the ride uses. So, I would definitely say that IMO, Cedar Point's new "ride" is not a "coaster." ....for what it's worth. -

Pretty much follow you on Facebook and Instragram now that you actively post there. Watch a youtube video once in a while, but not nearly as often as the others. -

Decided to intentionally not give "hints" to whoever got my name. Random is always good. Anyway...gifts are ordered and on the way. Looking forward to wrapping them up and sending away! -

I'm in. Great fun with it last year! -
Last night one of my best friends in the world passed away unexpectedly in her sleep at the age of 34. I am not posting for sympathy or to grieve as she would not want me to do that. What makes me the happiest is that the day before, I was able to share my passion for roller coasters with her at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom. She was very hesitant but ended up braving Superman Ultimate Flight and Medusa with me. As we were driving home, she told me that it was one of the best days she had in years. I will be forever grateful that her last day was spent discovering something new with me that she ended up thoroughly enjoying.
