  1. ^ That's something he can take "credit" for. Eric
  2. ^ I rode Corkscrew at Knott's when it looked like that. Just a note, the track was originally all white. In the pictures, I noticed that apparently, Silverwood didn't set up the evac platform under Aftershock's cobra roll (seen in this picture from Roller Coaster Database). Unless I missed it somehow... Eric
  3. ^ Not to mention that the tower isn't completely straight up and down. Eric
  4. I read two newspapers a day. Do you use a wireless mouse and/or keyboard?
  5. "I always found it odd that there were 3 seats instead of 4." (thrillrider) Remember, a regular car sits three across, so this is thematically correct. Older cars with a bench seat in front also sat three across, but the front bench seat is becoming rare in today's cars. Eric
  6. If you look carefully, you can see that this building has a face. Nice Photo TR, BTW. Eric
  7. If I recall correctly, the scream shields on Maliboomer were installed because the ride is in a business/residential area, not unlike the reason for Knott's putting the shed on GhostRider's first drop and the tunnel on Pony Express. Regarding Supreme Scream, I'm kind of surprised they didn't put anything on there. I have to agree with mr. cockblock...SFMM would get taller towers if they decided to get this type of ride. As drop rides go, I think something with a much higher capacity would work better there. Eric
  8. ^ Those cup holders are a good idea, but the thing is that it appears that riders still have to go over to them and put their drinks there. Just like putting stuff over on the shelves, putting drinks into the cup holder will slow down the loading process. That is one reason that the park added the infamous $1 storage containers. ^^ At one point, I didn't think a 12th car could be added to the train because of the work that would have to be done to the loading platform to add the air gate for the new Row 12. But I guess it is possible. As for a 12th car on the train itself, technically, it already had one, only it held all the electronical stuff for the now-defunct soundtrack. In fact, a 12th passenger car may even weigh less with passengers than the other stuff (just a wild guess). Eric
  9. At one point, the World Showcase was supposed to get a Swiss pavilion, and it was going to have a Matterhorn bobsled ride as its main attraction. That would have been great. Eric
  10. Dare I say, "parking lot trams." Eric
  11. Viper's entire lift chain was replaced within a week or two of its opening in 1990, but that was due to a defect with it if I recall correctly. Long story short: stuff happens. Eric
  12. ^ That was my next guess. How often do they replace lift motors? Terminator is not quite 15 months old yet. Eric
  13. Goliath stops on the lift hill on a fairly regular basis. I've noticed people walking down several times. It's just one of those things. Terminator being closed could have been a number of things. The fact that a crane was there suggests that it had valleyed, but I wasn't there so I can't say for sure. Everything in the park was running fine on August 1 when I was last there. Eric
  14. This may have been the best SFMM/Disneyland/DCA trip report ever. Thanks for sharing it with us! Eric
  15. My first coaster (of memory) was the Matterhorn at Disneyland. However, my mom says that I rode the Sea Serpent out at Pacific Ocean Park before that, but I don't remember it at all, and I think I'd remember riding a "big" wooden coaster out next to the ocean. Kristen has almost as many credits as I do---I'm still in the double digits, which is shameful for someone who's been around as long as I have. Eric
  16. ^ When you get to Athens, be sure to stop and get some of that Southern Greek food on the way to the Parthenon. I've heard it's pretty good. Eric
  17. Of course. They're supposed to be pointless. Otherwise, they'd make sense. Have you ever flown on a plane with three engines?
  18. Maybe they should call it "Epic-cot." I really like Epcot; the World Showcase in particular. It's hard to believe that in just a couple of months it'll have been four years since I was last there. Time to go again. Dave, have you been during the International Food & Wine Festival in October? If not, I highly recommend it. Thanks for sharing your pictures and experiences. I've been enjoying it. Eric
  19. ^ If you push it in, it'll pop back out. I guarantee it. Eric
  20. "Marriage, at least in this country is NOT a religious pact, it's a legal proceeding." (Sir Clinksalot) In this country, that is correct. Most marriage ceremonies, however, do have religious overtones from having been performed in a church by a minister. My brother paid a fee and was given the position of "minister" in "The Church of..." something or other. I can't remember the actual name. Anyway, he can legally perform marriage ceremonies for anyone who wants one. Eric
  21. Roar! was mentioned...were you talking about Roar! West or East? I've not ridden East, and I've heard better things about West. I also know that Roar! East uses PTC trains vs. the very first Millennium Flyers on West. Eric
  22. Movie theaters have ushers? But to answer the question, no. Do you read the Sunday comics in the paper?
  23. ^^ Actually, with "Superman---The Retreat," the cars would still face forward, but would be launched into the brakes behind the station. Eric
  24. The thing is, though, that you will not feel the floating airtime when you're sitting backwards. That's something I'd miss. Hopefully SFMM will only run one side backwards and leave the other side forward. Eric
  25. Coming to SFMM in 2011: Epacse Eht---Namrepus. Very interesting how Tower of Terror down in Australia has turned its car around. I didn't know they were doing that. Obviously, it's quite possible and should be a very interesting and thrilling experience experience. I will admit that I was skeptical about this, but am glad to be proven wrong. Eric
