  1. I did notice the smaller wheels. Strangely, I do like the look of the larger wheels even though they may not be needed now. But now that the wheels are smaller, I wonder what's in the way of the back row that would cut the number of seats to two across from three? Eric
  2. ^^ Does that mean that getting banned from here will become known as being "wumwipped?" Eric
  3. I've ridden Superman with both cars launching at the same time. It was for a Discovery Channel shoot (and I got two seconds of on-air time on that show). Racing another car on that ride really added to the experience a bit. It was a bit unnerving at the top of the tower when the cars were paused before their descent---I recall looking at the car on the left track and seeing it start to tip backwards only to be caught by the undertrack wheel, which appeared to be spring loaded to allow some "give." Of course I'm sure it was designed to do that. As for seating capacity, chances are, we'll lose at least one seat if that picture from Tower of Terror is any indication as to what our cars will look like. However, I wonder if it's possible for the cars to be made a bit wider to make up for the wider OTSRs? The heavy weight of the cars is due to the magnets within them. If I remember right, the cars weigh about six tons each. Even stripping down some of the body of the car isn't going to make them much lighter. Eric
  4. Both times I've been to WDW, I've only had the regular Park Hopper and didn't even look into adding the water parks. Next time I go, I'll look into it. Eric
  5. ^ Of course I wasn't there today (I was yesterday, but there was no testing), but I'd guess that the cars probably got close to the brakes at the top of the tower during this testing. We used to use the structural segments of the tower to gauge how far up the cars went, and often they used to reach halfway into the third segment. As you can see in this picture, the brakes cover the first and second segments. Until the ride stopped running this year, it rarely got higher than the fifth section from the top. Eric
  6. Nice report of a park that doesn't get much attention, actually. For some reason I thought this park had closed, but I realized that it was River Country. The WDW water parks aren't included on the Park Hopper tickets, are they? But is there a Park Hopper just for water parks? Eric
  7. No posts from wumwip today. Interesting...there are usually many from him each day. Eric
  8. It's the only way they could so many people to eat it. Why isn't there Chocolate Coke?
  9. As Joe Cool said above, this has to be one of the most WTF things I've heard of any company doing. Personally, I'm a cat person, so I would have enjoyed being there when they did this. Eric
  10. Because if you replied at 5 in the afternoon, you'd be in the way while your mom is making dinner. Should people in Missouri buy earthquake insurance, being that one of the biggest faults in the country is there?
  11. No, because I never had them up in the first place. It'd really look silly driving my car with my hands up. Do you change your own flat tires?
  12. No, because I look at the top of the page and it says, "Theme Park Review." If it wasn't a theme park site, it probably wouldn't say that. Do you scream or make noise when you go through a tunnel?
  13. Just to briefly derail the Superman discussion, I was at the park today with a friend. We arrived at opening and left about 6-ish. During our visit, we didn't ride much---Viper, Tatsu, Terminator, Batman, Riddler, Colossus, and Ninja. We didn't wait longer than 20 minutes for anything we rode, though we did notice that a couple of lines got longer later on. Tatsu was only running the left station, but opened the other one later. We also went up in the Sky Tower for awhile. X2's wait got to be over an hour so we skipped it. My friend had not been inside Studio 6F, so we stopped in to get flavored Cokes. I got Caffeine Free Diet Coke with orange and he went with regular Coke with raspberry. That soda machine was a good idea. One curious note: Deja Vu was closed, and there was a barrier blocking people from getting near the entrance of it. A sign next to the barrier said that the ride was closed and will reopen Spring 2011. Another rehab? An unannounced project? Hmmm... It was strange being at SFMM without the loud noise of Superman. I wonder how much the noise will change if the cars are going in reverse (probably not much to be honest). Eric
  14. It just galloped on over there. Why are they called "laptop" computers when most people set them on a table or something else?
  15. Looks very Zac-Spinny to me. But I'm sure it'll be something more than that. Eric
  16. I still think the OTSRs on Superman will be added because of the launch. True, it's not exactly neck snapping, but should they kick it up at some point, they'll be ready. Also, it's better to be safe than sorry. Eric
  17. "Is that a 4 across x 3 row seat configuration?" (kenshinmac) The cars have four rows total---four across in Rows 2, 3, and 4; and three across in Row 1. That adds up to 15 seats per car. I don't know if the cars will still fit that many with the new configuration. This is an interesting point. Eric
  18. Octopus. How did they arrive at the distance of 5280 feet to be a mile?
  19. I had two tacos at Del Taco today. And they were only 39 cents each. I have a taco story. It's true. And it's free: One time, Diana's grandma was slicing some octopus (remember that the Japanese eat that). She called out to Diana to see if she wanted any. "DIANA! YOU WANT TAKO?!?" ("Tako" is the Japanese word for octopus and is pronounced just like "taco.") Diana came running, thinking that Grandma made tacos. Nope...just a small Tupperware dish with slices of octopus in it. She just grimaced at it and walked out of the kitchen. We still tease her about that to this day. Eric
  20. I wonder how much airtime you'll get with these new restraints? Eric
  21. Pi, because when three were dancing, there was a little room left, and with four they were too cramped. Speaking of pi, why did the Greeks name one of their letters after a dessert?
  22. ^ I just noticed...you escaped from Ventura County! Eric
  23. It would because it already has its cape on (the corn meal stuff). Why do so many people buy silver cars?
  24. ^ That's why the park installed the pay-per-use locked cubbies. The idea was to have guests stow their stuff before they ever got to the loading platform, thus eliminating the need to run and put stuff on the side, etc. No one is willing to part with a dollar, but they're willing to risk losing their stuff, having it stolen, or trying to hold it on the ride---the latter of which makes no sense whatsoever because you can't enjoy your ride when you're concerned about hanging onto your stuff. I really don't get it. Eric
  25. Keep in mind that not all balls bounce...ever try and bounce a bowling ball? And besides, do we actually know that no one has tried to bounce them? As for "nuts," they're about nut size. And if someone leaves out the second "t," thus getting "tesicle," it could be a frozen treat or something you might ride. If someone bought a sheet of those Forever stamps from the post office today, could their great-great-great-grandchildren use them when postage will be $250 to mail a letter?
