Disneyland Paris sure takes on a different atmosphere in the winter. Funny how it stays open year round, as does Tokyo Disneyland (I believe). And yet most parks close for the winter here in the U.S. Thanks for sharing the pictures. Eric

Park Memories of yesteryear

^^ Magic Mountain's admission price in 1971 was $5.00 for adults, $3.50 for kids under 12. Parking was $1.00, I believe, or maybe even 50 cents. My first visit, August 20, 1971, I got in for $3.50 even though I'd turned 12 on August 1. (My folks told 'em I was 11 and they bought it!) Our entire family of seven got in for $29.00 that day! And my dad about had a stroke at that amount! Eric -
^ We were sitting in my car in her folks' driveway and we had a streetlight behind us. It's funny...I never gave much thought about how I would propose, but I'd been thinking about it for awhile at that time and it just came out. She said yes, but I had to ask her folks (Japanese tradition). Eric

^ Nothing wrong with getting down on one knee. I popped the question sitting in my car. Hard to get down on one knee in there... However, according to my mom, my dad did that---in his car! Anyway, congratulations and best wishes for a long, happy life together! Eric

"Heh, if you were 5280' in the air, your speed would be 350mph at the bottom." And you'd probably be dead, too. Eric -
"As I recall you (were) are very anal about English???" Yeah, I still am. Not to pick on anyone, but rather to help others improve themselves. Today's rant: I got up at 12:15 today, much later than I wanted to because I had a ton of stuff to do. Fortunately, I got it done and still had time to spare. Eric

Nice topic! Let's see...I've ridden: The DLR trains. Knott's. Both at SFMM (yes, actually they've had two train rides, but they're both gone now). BGT. Roaring Camp (the one through the redwoods, not down to SCBB). Bonfante Gardens. PGA (now gone). My favorite one? Probably the one at Roaring Camp. Eric

Santa's Village in So Cal (closed)
ebl replied to ctrdave's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I went to Santa's Village (the Skyforest one) once about 1964. Fortunately, I have a pretty good memory, so I still have vivid memories of that day. My brother rode the Bobsled coaster, but I didn't. At that time, being only five years old, I hadn't yet developed an interest in thrill rides. The Bee monorail...yes, I remember riding that one and even getting into an argument with my cousin who said it wasn't a monorail. :? There was a burro ride, and I believe some kind of antique auto ride on the lines of Disneyland's Autopia. They also had a frozen "North Pole" and a spinning Christmas Ornament ride. I have a Santa's Village brochure. Unfortunately, the park closed before I could take my daughter there. She would have really enjoyed it. Eric -
Videos of rides which no longer exist
ebl replied to tinhead's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have a 1991 video of Knott's Wacky Soap Box Racers on a VHS tape around here somewhere. (Most of my stuff is "around here somewhere.") It was shot using one of those huge, full size VHS camcorders. How I was able to hold it steady on the ride is a mystery, but the video came out pretty well. Eric -
Park Memories of yesteryear
ebl replied to coasterboy76's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember very well when there was a Busch Gardens in Los Angeles (Van Nuys, actually, right next to the Busch brewery). Unfortunately, I never took any pictures there. Of course, as I've mentioned often, I've visited Magic Mountain at least once during each and every year it's been opened. I do have some old pictures of that park, as well as from Knott's in the '70s. One day, I'll have to dig 'em all up, scan 'em, and put 'em up here. Eric -
