  1. Brandy did a wonderful Job. THANK YOU Brandy. (add me to the list of those from last year who never got a thank you, or pics posted, of what I sent. . which was frustrating, as I had included something from my personal memorabilia collection last year). I participated again this year, and had a great time doing it, and my giftee did post and did like what I got. so that makes it ALL worth it to me
  2. glad I started a thread that is generating discussion, although it's interesting that folks are focusing on the loop and dive loop aspect, and not heartline. as a heartline roll (as i mentioned is what inspired me to start the thread) I still think would fit PERFECTLY in Fury. so the only really good reason I've heard is that Customers sometimes don't like going upside-down. but I think a good heartline, taken at high speed, would be awesome.
  3. This implies that the loop will be one of the first elements. But you can place an inversion near the end of the ride, when the speed is much lower. And if you're still worried about costs, go for a barrel roll yeah.. Heartline would fit in perfect, I would think. that's why I was wondering if there is a danger "reason" why it hasn't been done.
  4. Ed Hermann, best known for "Gilmore Girls" (and "Lost Boys" if you are in your 40's) has passed. http://www.tmz.com/2014/12/31/edward-herrmann-dead-gilmore-girls/
  5. Such as a loop, diving Loop, or even a Heartline Roll? does it have something to do with the speed the trains are going that make the forces too dangerous to incorporate those aspects? I've wondered this for a while, although I've only ridden one that would even qualify (?), Steel Force. But I rarely see a giga that even has a 90degree track turn. Watching Robb's "Fury" demo footage is what got me wondering again, since I thought a heartline would fit great in that track layout. Anyone know why the Giga's just tend to go "up and down" and "bunny hops" with the occasional tunnel?
  6. my comment as a customer when we went back in June was about the lack of shade in the park and how hot it was with the oceans of concrete (I even mentioned it in my trip report). not surprising at all.
  7. hey, gotta share it HERE. . . that's part of what makes TPR great: the snark. and if one can't be snarky about THIS story?
  8. Being stuck 1.3 Feet taller than an average human being is SCARY! BIG news story! How could this not be news! This world is very strange sometimes. and dispatching a helicopter to fly over a building where inside, people are being evacuated!!!! (omg.. hope they had a ladder handy). just the funniest damn thing I saw today.
  9. Catch the end of that report: "according to the Fire Department, No one was injured or had to be treated" SO WHY WAS THIS NEWS?!?
  10. Now how has this not been reported here yet? (the link from the local news is trying to make this sound like a HUGE deal): "Riders had to be RESCUED!!!!! from Escape from Gringott's ride" OMG. .the HORROR. . . my feet fell asleep after a 1/2 hour! sheesh. http://www.clickorlando.com/news/riders-stuck-on-harry-potter-ride-at-universal-orlando-ofd-says/30440226?hpt=us_bn8
  11. yeah, "Into the Woods" is fantastic. we saw it today and absolutely loved it. .it strays slightly from the Stage Play (I missed Rapunzel all but disappearing from act II -- I'd assume for time purposes). but all the actors really nailed it. the cinematography of the woods, to make them look like STAGE sets in many shots, was the perfect call. if I had to "niggle".. my only issue with the film was Meryl Streep -- and this is probably ONLY an issue with those that saw Bernadette Peters in the original role (ie: most movie goers will simply think she was FANTASTIC). . and she was quite good. But in several of the songs? . . she was basically kareokeing in the style of Bernadette. (which makes sense, Sondheim did write the songs with her in mind). but it bugged me just a little that Meryl didn't put her spin on it more. [youtu_be]http://youtu.be/kxK0P9QrZ9w[/youtu_be]
  12. John Carter of Mars is a character created by Edgar Rice Burroughs -- also known for creating the (much more famous) character, Tarzan of the Apes. basically, John Carter is an American Civil War soldier, who is accidentally transported to Mars, and the "Barsoom" series of books by Burroughs (considered classics of American Pulp fiction) document his adventures there and his falling in love and marrying the Princess Deja Thoris. His adventures span, I think, 11 books from the early 1900's, tho the character was a staple of comics and serials since then (tho not as popular as Flash Gordon). Disney acquired the rights a few years back, and made an awful, awful film, that they marketed terribly (although to be fair, it LOOKED pretty), and the film bombed. Big time bomb. what was intended as the first film in a series, ended up being a series killer (the sequel never got green lit). here's a wiki summary of the film: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Carter_%28film%29
  13. Not super sure about highest, but we did ride "Steel Force" on our 2014 swing thru Pennsylvania. so that's a 205'. . so that's likely the tallest.
  14. agreed 100%. . your attitude made all the difference! (and you even got to do the safari and SEE animals ). great report.
  15. Very glad you liked em! (stupid Customs making me list what was in the package. . but at least it was a surprise to what EXACTLY they were) hehe. . and your Cats were smelling my Dog, Roxxi. I'm sure all the paper has the whiff of her, as she was all up in my business while I was wrapping.
  16. Here's what I'm tired of - people COMPLAINING about this!!! Seriously, if you were a "smart theme park enthusiast" you would know that it makes a LOT more sense for a park chain to come up with a theming package and then use it at as many parks as possible. These parks are all regional parks. Do you know how many people end up at multiple Six Flags parks each year? The number is very, very, very, very, very small. So to all of us to keep tabs on ALL the parks, it looks like there are Batman rides everywhere. But to the people who only visit one or two Six Flags parks in their entire lifetime, they have no idea. And hi, if you're going to give crap to Six Flags for doing this, then why aren't people giving crap to Disney, too, which have been cloning rides and themes for rides in their parks since the 1970s. Legoland does it, too. So please, just STOP WITH THE COMPLAINING!!! For Christ sakes, the chain is building a lot of really cool stuff right now. Would you rather it be the years when they built nothing? Slap as many Batman logos on rides as they need to as long as it brings us some cool, unique attractions. /end rant THANK YOU (and yes, I AM counting this as my Christmas Miracle)
  17. I shouldn't read your reports!. . I always end up hungry looks like a fantastic time, tho i don't know that I"d ever cruise Disney simply because of the amount of kids on the boat (tho they don't seem that noticeable in your pics except for the Pirates ones). Is a Disney cruise comparable in cost to say Celebrity?. . or are they more expensive because they are Disney? (I've always wondered).
  18. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looping_Starship
  19. Per the Wiki page, that would leave 6 rides of this type still operating (themed to either Space Shuttle, pirate ships, or an Egyptian barge)
  20. Just double-checked on Wiki (if you believe what's posted), and per the "Looping Starship" page http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Looping_Starship my memory is correct -- SFoT took Looping Starship from Astroworld when it closed (hence the 2006 opening, as Astroworld closed in 2005), and added on a new Chassis (ACME Arrow instead of the Starship). so really, the ride was from 1986 when it was installed in Astroworld. making it 28 years old. . maybe that's why they scrapped it?
  21. Wasn't Rockin Rocket moved to SFoT from Astroworld when that shut down (at Astroworld it was Looping Starship). I thought it was the same ride, and they just re-themed it to ACME/LooneyTunes? not correct?
  22. I would almost put money on it that Morgan is not following Rick's group - i think he's a stealth cast member of the spin off. (tho the Spin Off is set in California, and Morgan is currently in Georgia. . so dunno how they would manage to get him cross country alive. . but who knows). no way is Beth coming back, that's Kirkman's pretty much #1 rule. . no do-overs. In the comic, Rick lost his hand years ago, and Kirkman has said he regrets doing that, but he's never gone back and "fixed" it. . not even with a prosthetic. so yeah. . think Beth is gone, as much as it annoyed me we (the audience) got cheated out of a reunion with Maggie. edit: HAHAHA. .the filters changed the name M-aggie to "Magnum"
  23. Having just been thru Pennsylvania this year, and spending several days there, I can help! it's Kah-No-Bells
