a friend of mine JUST posted this to FB: The biggest/best cruise ship in the world just got even "better". There is a one time only sailing for 5 nights on Oct 27th at discount prices ($299 inside, $369 BALCONY) to celebrate her return from this recent drydock. Care to join me? I'm REAL close to booking this. That balcony price is a STEAL for a ship of this calibre I can't join him, as we'll be on a Holland America cruise (10 day) that sails on 11/3, so there's no way I can get the extra time off for a week before). but sharing here, in case y'all didn't see it!

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread
bert425 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
since Fahrenheit and Skyrush aren't next to each other, why not make your 50th StormRunner (which is close). . then head around the back towards Great Bear, SuperDooperLooper, Skyrush, Comet. . and then head towards the Racer, WIld Mouse, and Wildcat (which i wouldn't bother with. .but hey,if you wanna hit the coasters. . but it's ROUGH, ROUGH, ROUGH). in regards to the Whip?. . be warned, HP runs a terrible, and short program. You're lucky if they run it more than 45 seconds, even if the line is dead. not worth the effort in my opinion. we very much enjoyed the Condor, and we LOVED Howler. . . it looks so innocent -
Horrible Park Operations
bert425 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
after the death at SFoT, I'd guess they are following mfg. directions exactly. and for some reason, maybe the manual says this ride needs four ops? (I really don't know, just guessing). thank you for not being offended tho. . . it just stuck with me (and simmered for a few days before I responded). I'm right there with you if slow operations are because someone is not doing their job (chatting, playing on phone, etc). . but most times, if someone suddenly disappears, there's a good reason. not always, but most times -
Horrible Park Operations
bert425 replied to pgathriller's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I don't intend to "jump" on you, but seriously? Your phrasing of "without any reason" is the part that's bothering me. you have absolutely NO idea why the operator had to leave the station. 1) he got a text his Father had a heart attack, and they needed him at the hospital now 2) from the station, he saw a person fall and injure themselves, and went to go help. 3) he had bad mexican food and had to run to the toilet or else crap himself. those are only 3 reasons he could have left the station, none of which involved clearing it with YOU before he had to leave. so you had to wait for a ride. . boo hoo. . you have no idea what could have been going on that caused the operator to need to leave the Station. (and no, I would not be responding this way if you said you got stuck waiting because the ops were on their phones texting, or telling each other jokes, or hitting on riders in the trains. If an operator leaves the station without someone to back them up? it's an emergency of some kind, and other guests should understand that). -

The Tale of the Grow Walk ….Hunh? photo Report
bert425 replied to jenseib's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh yes there is. I went away for a week on a cruise with my Mom and tomorrow my oldest daughter is having her baby, so it's been a little crazy around here. I posted on the other one today but it might take me a few days to get another update on this....as I don't think I have anymore written up yet. But I do have a ton of the pictures edited. I do promise to finish this....it just might take me a bit. hehe. . I didn't mean to guilt you into it! but thrilled to see an update LOL. No guilting...I need to get moving. I hate when life gets in the way...though today was the excpetion with the birth of my first grandaughter who is just cute as a button! Yah. . i realized that I forgot to say "Congrats Gramma!" glad to hear the baby is doing great! -
also, I don't think I've ever seen tea-cups without the center "spin" column. it looks that way from the picture. is the only way to spin if the Ride-Op spins you?

that is a great report. Loved almost everything, from the color of the flume water, to the "official Disney" bewbs. are you sure that was Cinderella in the Crooked House? Looked to me like Elsa was continuing her world tour after Maelstrom closed. that Ghost Train is amazing tho. OMG..the neon, the neon. . Orange and Green NEON everywhere. it really IS hell!

I love this coaster, so fast, and so smooth. . and I really love that it's so high thrill without the inversions. I'm still confused as to why it's themed to a Pirate though? but hey, it makes playing "pass the sword" make plenty of sense. . LOL -

Knoebels Discussion Thread
bert425 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
we were there during a DOWNPOUR in June. seriously, it poured so much the park flooded for a good 40 minutes, then all drained and almost everything opened back up. the only ride that was affected was Flying Turns. . it went down after the first downpour, and they never got it back up, because every time it would dry off enough to start testing again, another wave of showers came thru. -

Photo TR: Boldy Does Dorney
bert425 replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
toldya the Whip at Dorney was good. and I loved Possessed so much, I bought a tshirt of if when we were there -
Yes. I ranked it as #2 behind Knoebel's Whipper on our trip thru Penn. Knoebel's Dorney Kennywood HersheyPark they have a Monster too (right next to Posessed). Don't miss that. .it was the only Monster ride we came across. as for Chickie & Pete, there is a Sit Down Sportsbar version near Hydra. It was inside, air conditioned, and had a much bigger menu than the walk up window. (tho the chicken Cheesteak I had did give me the craps, my partner enjoyed his meal, and the fries were gooood)

Busch Gardens Los Angeles
bert425 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
we used to go to the Houston one really, really often. I don't recall there being ANY "rides". . just maybe a carousel? but boy do I remember the animal shows. (in particular the bird ones with the parrots and cockatiels).
