This trip may be your best option. BGW is simply brilliant, and two days is a perfect amount of time to truly enjoy it. KD is also an easy drive from Williamsburg, so there's no trouble adding it on. As for the museums/historical stuff, there's TONS of stuff in that area. Colonial Williamsburg is really nice, and I highly recommend you spend at least one day seeing the place. Plus, there's Historic Jamestowne (the actual settlement), Jamestown Settlement (the recreation of said settlement), and Yorktown. Then, of course, you can venture farther north to DC for the usual tourist stuff. Honestly, if your partner isn't big on parks and loves history, this would be an amazing trip for the two of you. There's not a whole lot to do in the immediate area. There's some historical sites related to Thomas Edison south of Sandusky, but that's about it. If you want museums, you could go to Cleveland. There's the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, their art museum (which I understand is quite nice), the natural history museum, etc. The closest parks would be Michigan's Adventure (4.5 hrs), Kings Island (3.5 hrs), and Waldameer (2.5 hrs). Hope this helps! It does help, thank you! (and you summed up exactly why I was leaning towards option 1 in the first place for trip planning (and considering the day doing Colonial Williamsburg before Washington DC). Glad to hear my plan for 2 days BGW / 1 Day KD is a sound one. would 2 days be enough for CP if we end up with that trip? He's a big music fan and would love the hall of fame. but the other parks, even at just 2.5 hours for Waldameer (that would be a "maybe"). .i think would be a hard sell. (if forced to go on a shorter trip, rather than skimp on Washington, I'd rather just save BGW & Washington for another time. . hence keeping CP in the mix as an option).

So. . I'm looking to do a trip in mid/late June this year (or POSSIBLY Late May) and could use some help. For this Year's vacation (which I'm planning and still have to sell my partner on) I'm looking at either Bush Gardens Williamsburg or Cedar Point (both are on my "bucket list" parks, so I'm really leaning towards one of these two) .. .but could use some input. "both" isn't going to work as an answer -- my Partner cannot do multiple parks in one trip (he barely survived 4 parks in Pennsylvania last year, even tho I built in a lot of downtime), so although I'm in early stages of planning, these are what I'm leaning towards: option 1) 7-8 day trip: Hotel in Williamsburg, 2 days at Busch Gardens -- want to really take my time to enjoy this supposedly beautiful park, then drive up for 1 day at King's Dominion (driving back to Williamsburg at end of day for sleep in hotel). Then either day in Colonial Williamsburg, or just drive to Washington, DC for 3-4 days and do the Smithsonian Museums, the National Mall, and other touristy stuff. option 2) 3-4 day trip (or possibly longer?). Stay on-site (likely at Breakers) for at least 2 days at Cedar Point. . .then ?? this is where I need the help. What else is there near Cedar Point? I've never been or even researched it, so I dunno if there are any other parks close by? or any Museums/historical things to do? any suggestions are good ones, as I don't know what to plan. my partner, of course, likes the idea of a 3-4 day trip, but I have absolutely no issue stretching out to 7-8 days as long as we have something fun to do, either culturally or relaxing. so hit me. . what should I plan? best, bert

do you read the comic by chance? they are stealth introducing a character from the comics, whom i expect will be the "big bad" next year. I think we'll see signs of his group around (such as the chopped up walker bodies). . but Rick and co are going to find a place to stop and settle before we meet the next bad guy. .and it's a pretty good bet whom it is, since Kirkman has said we're about to have a gay character show up. . and that's GOT to be Jesus, a scout from a community that I'll put $$ on that they'll end the year joining with. as far as Tyrese. .he lived much longer than the comic book version did, and for some reason, he never really worked for me on the show. (odd, since Comic Michonne and Comic Rick made the translation on to screen with no issues for me). so . . eh. Not too upset about this turn of events.

Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

thought the layout was terrible (very confusing, and SO many hills ). . . but loved the park. and you forgot the Kettle Corn. . even BETTER than the chocolate. -
not officially. this is all "from inside sources" Bruce has yet to issue a formal statement, so although it might be "obvious" to many of us, until Bruce issues the statement? it's just speculation. but "good on Bruce" regardless of the situation. as to the car crash, he was clearly being chased by Paparazzi -- they have pictures of the MOMENT OF IMPACT! Sheeh. . learned *nothing* from the death of Diana I hope these Paparazzi are charged with something. (edit: and why "sigh"? . thought that was a funny story).

Knoebels Discussion Thread
bert425 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
that's so funny, because I had seen this years ago, and made NO connection to it being at Knoebel's. yet I was inclined to take these pics next to "him" at the park last June: -
true, the rooms are nothing special these days (and the "go" rooms are a joke (they look like bad 70's porn could be shot there). . but the price is right for the level of Hotel it is, and the location is just fantastic.

This is Roxxi. she's 100% blind, from Diabetes (she gets shots twice a day, as well as eyedrops to keep the Glaucoma under control). the little stinker likes to lay and lick her back legs raw due to terrible allergies -- the only thing that ever worked was steroids, and we can no longer use those due to the Diabetes. so here is my attempt last week to make her a "garter" to keep her from licking when we have to leave the house for work. (yes, I totally posted these on my wall, and we've been giggling hysterically for a week. . she looks so "trashy"). and they only stayed on for about 10 minutes!

we have a large dog (Doberman/German Shepard Mix). .and she's got a lot of toys, but since going blind (due to diabetes ). . her favorite is a "KONG" toy that you can put treats in. she likes it because it's big, so she can find it after she flings it. Nick's sister was staying with us for a visit, and pulled me aside in the kitchen and whispered "why is the dog playing with a sex toy???" and we had NO idea what she was talking about (playing dumb) yep. . we made her say, out loud, "isn't that a butt plug?" BWAAAA-HAAAA-HAAAA

Nit-picky point: Disney's Fast Pass is not "free." It's part of your admission. but EVERYONE who enters the park gets the same option to use it. there's no upcharge for it. In terms of the conversation here, I'd say that pretty much would qualify it as "free" -

we're likely doing BGW this year, and I'm planning two days for it with no quickqueue (then a 1 day drive up to King's Dominion). . . followed by 2-3 days in Washington, DC. do yo think 2 days is enough for BGW? We've never been , and as I've noted, we tend to like to ride everything and perhaps catch a show or two. -

I've never bought one, and never will (unless on a TPR trip where they are supplied; or in a situation like Disney where everyone is on equal footing and everyone can make use of it). I have no issue standing in line, and that's part of the theme park experience. When we go on trips, if it's a park we think will be crowded, we budget the time in for it so we can experience what we like. for example, we planned on using the evening before early admission at Hershey Park to go on a few things that we expected to have big lines the next day. Then we used the next day to ride everything else. I don't like (at all) the idea that someone can pay extra and get "better" / "quicker" service than everyone else. sorry. -

and hugs right back! here we are in November, on the Island of Bonaire (from our Caribbean Cruise on Holland America. .we were SO young compared to everyone else). We had just come from the Cadushy distillery before going to the lookout (the ship is way behind us in the distance). . .and the distillary gave out LOTS of free samples. so I was feeling no pain. . LOL

(guess I have to shave my long beard off (a request made the other day, that I was only considering) before we go out to dinner tonight). 11 years. . and after a breakup that I was SURE meant I'd never find my other half! (we met less than 2 months after the breakup).

wow. .did THAT go off the rails. crap ending to the worst season of the show thus far (almost nothing "Horror" about it). at least it DID give us the best episode of the show *ever* -- the "Pepper" origin episode. but other than that one? what a mess.. ideas picked up and dropped (sometimes in the same episode), police that stopped looking for the escaped convict that supposedly killed a house full of Tupperware party ladies, Elsa getting to spend eternity with the freaks she "loved" (yet killed one herself, sold the show to someone who killed another freak, and then RE-SOLD the show to another who killed the rest of the freaks). yeah. a mess. Ryan Murphy should submit the idea for the season, then step away and let others write. on the + side, Glee has been good since it's return.
