#1 rule of holes. "when you find yourself in one? Stop digging" (and my 2cents on re-rides for single riders. . . I get back in line, and then ASK another single rider if I can share the seat with them. . . never had an issue being allowed to move up in the line to get in the seat with a single rider. . but as noted, I get back in the line from the front of the line). -
Plastic cups, printed ride photos and stupid crap like that goes in a free eco friendly plant ocker-lay Thanks for that Boldikus. Bill I'm glad I'm not the only one on here who admittedly uses the eco friendly plant ocker-lays!! we just thought it was funny how annoyed you were that someone took it (since I was sure it was an employee who thought they were just picking up trash) hehehe. . . I LOVED hanging out with y'all. . . we need to meet up for another park trip to spend day together at some point in the future!

Nice pics -- brings back some great memories from a week ago for me Glad Thurs had such light crowds for you. Surprised you didn't stick around for Coastermania! on Friday, as that also had pretty light crowds -- and we got evening ERT on Wilderness Run. . the hardest credit to get at CP for an adult (and no, I don't care if they count it as a coaster - even on the Coastermania! shirts (really), Pipe Scream is *not* a coaster, and I did not ride it). -

it was! and Gatekeeper being totally unable to see the track?. . . one of the best experiences i've ever had. TTD & MF never opened until the fog cleared (operator on MF told me it was due needing to be able to use the cameras on the lift hill. . I guess to make sure morons didn't pull out phones or undo seat belts). . . .but the other stuff in the fog? Amazeballs. -

we were there too, but didn't go to the park on Sunday (we were desperately needing a break after 17 hours on Friday (Coastermania!) and full day on Sat. we considered it tho, because we saw from our room at Breakers (once the rain cleared out after 10am) how empty the coasters were, but stuck to our plan to skip Sunday and go Monday. interesting you had a good Sat, as we thought it was PACKED (and were super glad we had done FL+ as the lines for Maverick/Valravn were huge all day, and if we hadn't been using FL+ we would have maybe gotten one ride in, rather than multiple). most of the rides were managable, but the lines on the "big" coasters were decent on Sat - we saw sign nothing 1:45 for Maverick and 1:15 for Valravn.. tho interestingly, MF stayed a steady ~15 wait all day (the FL+ line put you into the queue right where the main line was ending anyways). here's what the weather on Sunday morning when we got up looked like, so not surprised the park never got crowded. (too bad you didn't stay thru Monday. . there was such heavy fog until about 11am, that riding things in the total fog was amazing!). -

you nailed it. . I actually forgot Dorney Park was Cedar Fair. . . that's exactly what it reminded me of! (but WoF seems to have way more trees/shade than DP) -
Liz reminded me of something funny that I forgot to put into the Coastermania! day. . . so mentioning it, since it had us all laughing. after riding Skyhawk, we stopped for a potty break in what Liz calls the "sketchy bathrooms". . that are over in the building that a long time ago used to be the skyride station for the back of the park. they really are pretty sketchy. . they feel kind of like a "rest stop" on a highway that hadn't been maintained in many years.. . or a bathhouse on a beach that never gets a lot of love. - and I say that because the weirdly open entrance to the restrooms has about a 1/2 dozen "changing" rooms, before you turn the corner into the "real" toilets -- I dunno. . maybe this is over by where the entrance to the old Shoot the Rapids ride was? (the Shoot the Chutes ride is still over there. . so maybe this option was for folks to change into swimsuits before getting wet???). anyways, I go in, and there's this youngish guy who comes in after me, and he's got a swaggar and he's trying to be real cool. . and I notice him since he steps up to the urinal two down on my right -- but I'm ignoring him, since after all, this is a toilet (one comes in here for a reason). and I see him, out of the corner of my eye, lean forward, and spit into the urinal while he's peeing. followed almost immediately by "damn. . . . " yep, he spit "on himself". . .it was so funny, and I was trying so hard not to laugh. . . .but I finished up as quickly as I could, washed my hands, and rushed out to tell Bill, Liz, and Dianne. And like I said, we all laughed, and laughed and laughed. now that I shared that little tidbit. . here are some pics that Liz also sent me from her and her Mom's visit, these are from the day before we met up, and she got a great sunrise that I was told that I could share in my report. all pics from Liz (TBpony. . which stands for Thoroughbred Pony, not Tuberculosis Pony, as she explained to me )

I'm really surprised China has so many small amusement parks. it really does seem that every city you visit has at least one, and sometimes more. how do they all stay in business? are they Government run to provide entertainment to the masses, so they don't need to worry about having a paying customer base? thanks for sharing all your park pics. . . I always find your posts very interesting!

nice little park, but seems to be pretty . . . "generic" ? reminds me, of Cedar Point, Kings Dominion, KBF. . . basically the other Cedar Fair parks I've been to, but just not as . . um. . . unique? if I was in the area, I might stop by, but don't think I'd plan a trip just for Mamba. thanks for sharing tho, great pictures. -
I liked Skyhawk. .but once was enough. There were several things that were 1 and done, (mainly the spinning stuff like Monster, Matterhorn, Tiki Twirl, Witches Wheel. ..guess I'm getting too old for that kind of thing), but I actually meant to re-ride Skyhawk on Monday and just never got back around to it.

check in was from 6:30 I think until 8?. . (maybe 9). once you got in, you went to the two tents and they just gave you the next available Cruise & Lunch slots. We probably COULD have requested different times, but we were fine with the first cruise and first lunch,so it worked out. there were two deserts: Pecan Tart, and Banana pudding (I think that's what it was). we tried both (we had SO many tickets left. . so we just used them for deserts and Bill even kept one for souvenir. . . when we checked in for Brews and BBQ, we had just gotten off the queue for Maverick, where it broke down again 3 rides away from us getting on and Bill had gotten upset and didn't want to wait, and just wanted to get to B&BBQ. . . so I mentioned to the lady at the booth that it was the 3rd time it had happened to us where Maverick breaks down right when were in the station. . .and she gave us each a coupon for full cup of beer (basically 6 extra tickets). . so yeah, we had a lot of tickets between the two of us). anyways, the Pecan Tart was super, super sweet. . went well with the chocolate ale, but was a bit too sweet on it's own. the banana pudding was great tho. . a vanilla pudding in a graham crust, with banana slices at the bottom. That one went well with the pink fizzy cider.

I would guess CCMR is not going anywhere..and they don't need the space. there is that large area just next to it from the Shoot the Rapids ride. . . . which IS going to get used. (heh. . a tease to keep you reading my Trip Report. . LOL. . . since this area is one of the things i talked about with the Town Hall Museum Curator when I was there on Monday) -
it really was! and the crowds being so light, the 17 hours in the park just FLEW by.. but was really exhausted, and we turned right around for full day on Sat! but since we knew we were taking Sunday as an 'off' day, at least we hit the bar Sat night after we got back to Breakers that not. not on Friday tho. . we were out cold moments after hitting the room.

Photo TR: From Dollywood to Holiwood
bert425 replied to ytterbiumanalyst's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Dollywood is beautiful, and remains on my (now shorter) bucket list. it's going to be a struggle to get Nick to go, as he's not a Dolly fan, or a Country Music fan, so that would really cut down on the number of shows we'd even consider going to (tho to be fair, at Cedar Point a week ago, I only watched one show, and that was because they were allowing us to watch the preview, so we sat and watched). but what a beautiful park.. it's like a giant version of Frontierland (or Western Junction). . with that odd "hollywood streets - Six Flags Themed" section near Lightning Rod. but wow it looks great. not a lot of standard flats tho? -

the Memphis zoo is beautiful. and it looks like you had a great day to go. . you said it was a Saturday? and the crowds were that light? sheesh... adding Memphis Zoo to my list of places we need to visit. (not sure I understand why the lego exhibits. . .(seems not permanent?), or the music playgrounds, but i love that kind of stuff, and we would have easily spent the whole day there). do you remember admission cost?
