and wracked by guilt. I know it was the right decision, but the suddenness of it caught me off guard. She was fine on Sunday night, and playing with her squeekie toys. and was fine Monday night too, she enjoyed her walkie in the colder weather, and was bouncing along like a bunny rabbit (and she was a big bunny rabbit). but Tuesday morning, woke up and wouldn't eat, and at 10am she started projectile vomiting, and couldn't even keep water down (she'd drink a ton -- made sense, since her not eating was making her sugars spike, since I couldn't give her insulin shots without food). . that continued all night, with me cleaning up vomit every couple of hours when her yakking woke me/us up (but it was all clear fluid, as she hadn't been eating). Then this morning, she was having trouble standing up, with her whole back end/legs shaking, and she was getting very listless. I was worried about her, and knew taking her to the vet would end up being a 1 way trip . . . . she's severely diabetic (and got 42 units of insulin per day - via morning/evening shot), and also completely blind (from the diabetes), and she also needed several eye drops every day to keep the pressures in her dead eyes down. So she had lots of medical problems anyways we'd been taking care of for almost 3 years. she was also over 12, so getting up there in age, but as long as she has quality of life, I wasn't willing to let her go, despite how expensive the Insulin, and the other meds were (and they were very expensive, about $180 every 3 weeks just for the Insulin). we also knew she had several tumors, but never had them biopsied, since we were not going to treat if they came back malignant, and the vet was on the same page as us. my baby was very expensive. But she was looking so bad, and I was so worried, I went ahead and got her in to see the vet this afternoon. She was acting so odd, even the techs commented on how unusual the behavior was (not excited to be there, not reacting to people coming into the room, not wanting to go to the scale for weigh in, NO reaction from the needle for the glucose test blood draw). She did get a bit excited (a small wag) from the Vet coming in, and she actually ate an animal cracker treat -- 1st interest in food in 36 hours. . . but 20 minutes later threw it up all over the room. the Vet said, we had 2 options: 1) put her in hospital to treat the dehydration (from the vomiting) and ketosis (?) from her Diabetes (her sugars were over 700 this afternoon). that would be up to 3 days, and then they could start running tests to try and figure out why she was not eating, and throwing up, meaning bloodwork, xrays, sonogram, and possibly surgery if they found a blockage in her tummy. But that would cost well over 5K, and there were no guarantees that even if she recovered she would stay healthy (at the end of the day, she's still severely diabetic). or 2) let her go, which is the kinder thing to do, as I had always told the vet my feelings about as long as she had quality of life. . . .and clearly something was going on that was very negatively affecting that. So considering her age, she said if it were here dog? she'd go for the kind option, as she knew how much we loved Roxxi, and kept telling me how she was very lucky to have us as parents, since most wouldn't have taken care of her for so long after the Diabetes. I called Nick at work, and he left early and met me at the Vet. so thru the tears, tho I tried not to cry, we made the hard call to let her go. SO many people that work at the vet came in to say goodbye to her (she did medical boarding when we went on trips, so many there knew her) and most of them cried -- which got me going too and tho I didn't want to, I felt that I NEEDED to stay until the end, so pet her head thru the administering of all the drugs and until she was gone. I didn't ask to get ashes back, or do a "paw print" memory. . i just could not handle having that around. .having her collar is hard enough, and tonight is going to be horrific. I can't stop crying, and it's so strange not to have her in the house. R.I.P. Roxxi. you were a GUD dog. Not feeling well at the vet this afternoon saying goodbye and trying (and not succeeding) not to cry.

I'm right there with y'all in not being a Thor fan. but this film SEEMS to be mainly an adaptation of "Planet Hulk" comic book arc from the "Incredible Hulk" comic - tho the set up to get him out of Asgard and to the war planet is all Thor. but as a Hulk fan? yeah, I wanna see this

VERY rarely, I'll eat at Raising Cain's, or PDQ (not sure if this one is only local or not). . . but for years, since I discovered it while in Atlanta (and they have a location in Little Rock that I've eaten at, and one in downtown Austin that we eat at often). . my favorite is "Gus' World Famous Fried Chicken" http://gusfriedchicken.com/ there's only one way they make it. . spicy as hell. . and it is so, so good. the sides are great too (Potato Salad, corn, beans, slaw, Fried Green Tomatoes, Okra, Fried pickles, etc. . ), and the Chess Pie is among the best version I've ever had. so yeah. . .Gus'

Cruxshadows made a rare non-Atlanta USA appearance in Austin last Friday -- as usually they only tour overeseas (but came in special for the anniversary of our local goth/darkwave dance club, Elysium). so got to see them twice in one year, and the only time ever while not at Dragon*con. still a great show (set was the same they played at Dragon*con). . so odd to see them without a sea of lightsabers bobbing in the crowd in front of them 10/27 at Elysium, in Austin 10/27 at Elysium, in Austin 10/27 at Elysium, in Austin 10/27 at Elysium, in Austin

Robb & Elissa's Oktoberfest 2017 Trip!
bert425 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Nice! and how fun they ran it with the lights on for y'all. I giggled when I saw they "themed" it with pumpkins inside, even tho the outside is a GIANT pumpkin looks like a fun family coaster, and glad you got to get in a last ride while there. Did they happen to say what kind of coaster they are going to be installing? (wondering if it will keep the spiral lift, or if they pull that out, they might go for a launched indoor looper, ala Rock and Rollercoaster. y'all do the best trips! -
just saw them ~7 weeks ago at Dragon*con, but Cruxshadows were in town last night . . so of course I went. great show (even tho the set was the same as the one the other month). and during the final song "Marilyn my Bitterness" I joined them on the stage, and got a great pic of Drummer, Jessica.

^^ HAHAHAHAHA if they wanted it to really be "themed" they should have the cars set up as enclosed glass showers. "fart hole" indeed! (tho other than the unfortunate name, that looks like it was a ton of fun to ride!). -

wow. . TBpony will be upset. . she LOVES that Extreme Sports show. I don't remember even SEEING Sandcastle Suites, and we not only stayed at Breakers for 4 days, and walked the boardwalk a few times, but also rode Magnum multiple times, and from the maps, it looks like it's visible from there. weird. -

that's the kind of ride that I would stand and watch for a while (the lighting package is amazing). I'd ride it, but definitely before any eating or drinking anything -

^ LOL.. I am not familiar with any of the bands posted in the past 4 posts. I apparently am old.

I listened to KMFDM back in middle school (Symbols-era). Bummer to hear they aren't cutting it live these days. since En Esch split (he's actually performing solo on the Lords of Acid/Combichrist tour in town this Wed), they just aren't as good live. Sascha and Luchia are trying (and the CDs are still good -- the newest one, Hell Yeah, is great). . . but honestly, majority of the time they are just standing behind the computer stacks. Not super exciting visually, even with the live drums. and as it was the same night as OhGr (with Ogre really putting on a show), and MLwtTKK (with Groovie all over the damn stage), KMFDM really showed to be lacking in live performance.

oh, adding musical aids for those not familiar with these spectacular bands: ohGr "Water" [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] KMFDM "Light" [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult "Do you fear for your child?" [youtu_be] [/youtu_be] and "Kooler than Jesus" [youtu_be] [/youtu_be]

oh, just me hanging out with guys from ohGr (Nivek Ogre's band he formed after splitting from Skinny Puppy). We saw them play with KMFDM, before heading up the street at midnight to catch My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult, and they came down to that club to catch part of that show. We talked to them inside the club (and complimented on the stellar set they had done earlier), but this set of pics - if you look fast, it's like a movie!. . LOL -- was taken ~2:30am, as we were headed out.

Had a great Friday the 13th, seeing some classic industrial/dance bands that not only ended up playing just a few blocks from each other at different venues, but worked together to stagger the sets, so that many could see all bands! both shows Sold out. Also, since the bands know each other, and the club owners, multiple members were milling around both shows, and we got to talk to them and get pics. over at the Mohawk with show starting at 9, OhGr (band fronted by Nivek Ogre from Skinny Puppy), and KMFDM touring on the latest album "Hell Yeah" then up the street at Elysium, starting at Midnight, My Life With the Thrill Kill Kult, 35th anniversary tour, playing the first 2 Wax Trax! albums live + the b-sides from all the 12" singles from those two albums. a fantastic night out with my friend Wendy with some really, really good music (for the most part). quick takes: OhGr: 9 out of 10: GREAT set list (even if no Puppy getting played, but hey they did play "dog" does that count? ). They not only sounded amazing, but looked like they were having a hell of a great time - and they were: We talked to a couple of they guys at the end of the night at Elysium, such nice, nice guys, who were so appreciative when I told them how much I had enjoyed their set (and how much better they were than KMFDM. . they were). Apparently this is only the 3rd date on the tour? but they were having a blast up there, and it was infectious. . . and, as typical, Ogre was giving off a *very* Peter Gabriel crossed with Peter Murphy vibe from up there on the stage. KMFDM: 5 out of 10 yeah. . . we didn't stay for the whole set, and that should tell you everything. I love KMFDM, and was expecting them to focus on the later albums (which they did a lot), but opening with "Rip the System" and mid-set with "Light" helped keep me moving along as they also hit the more recent singles. But as my Dad said when I took him to see the show "STOMP", after a few songs, I was like: "I get it. What else are you going to do?" They just seemed a bit unexcited to be there, and when a fight with drunk fratboys and sorority girls broke out during "Hell Yeah" it was actually a bit more entertaining than what was on the stage. Bumping into John who mentioned that the TTK show at Elysium had sold out, was more than enough impetus to cut out from Mohawk 20 minutes or so before the set ended, so we wouldn't have to fight the crowd to get into Elysium and get a good spot (which we managed to do up front). folks I talked to that stayed for the whole set said they didn't do an encore, or really end on a good note, just kind of walked off the stage. So yeah. . not awful, but not the greatest thing I ever saw. OhGr really should have been headliner, I suspect. My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult: 10/10 Ab-so-freaking-lutely fantastic. Yeah, Groovie is looking a bit like Geraldo Rivera these days (in particular with his glasses on), but man did he sound fantastic. The 1st two albums live, followed by *every* B-side from the 12" released from those albums. so yeah, got to hear "Devil Bunnies" and "Cuz it's Hot" among other things, played live! The drums onstage just made the whole club pulse, so glad they have the full band and not just a programmed track to play with. if you get a chance to see them on this tour, HIGHLY recommended. sign outside the sold out Mohawk OhGr comes on stage (with Ogre in a mask for the 1st song). the two on the right, Lead Guitar, and Keyboards, are who we got a pic with 5 hours later, at a different club, where they had come to hang out with members of Thrill Kill Kult. OhGr, with Ogre still in mask OhGr, but with Ogre no longer in mask KMFDM Sascha from KMFDM (yeah, we had a great spot) Lucia from KMFDM Hi Lucia ! My Life with the Thrill Kill Kult about to go onstage. . . yeah, we had great spots for them too, and the place was PACKED. it's Thrill Kill Kult! Me hanging out with members of OhGr (withought their stage makeup), post 2am in front of Elysium. Wendy having a good time (she's a HUGE Nivek Ogre fan, and that was the band she wanted to see most, so I insisted she get a pic with these two) Groovie Mann from Thrill Kill Kult just hanging around the club after the set.
