FL Busch Parks or Bust
bert425 replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
the restaurant at the top level across from Cheetah Hunt (overlooking the Serengetti) was a buffet (above the quick serve on level 2). . worth EVERY penny for fantastic fried chicken, and wonderful deserts. (they also have regular menu, if you don't want buffet. .but the buffet was worth it). Sit down restaurant in the air conditioning overlooking the animals and cobra's curse https://buschgardens.com/tampa/dining/serengeti-overlook-restaurant/ -
FL Busch Parks or Bust
bert425 replied to boldikus's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
join Club TPR.. we did Busch/Seaworld tix, that included free parking for both parks (they were good for 7 days, and we did 3 days at BGT, and a day trip to SWO). I know you said you didn't want to rent a car. .but if you end up checking prices and find them cheap (and they WERE cheap in Tampa). . I'd recommend what we did: we actually flew into Tampa, and stayed there (very reasonable hotel not too far - maybe 10 minutes -- from BGT), and then day tripped to Orlando for SWO. also drawing us to Tampa is the Hard Rock Seminole. . . gambling, drinking, and Music Memorabilia . . we were in heaven (the food was good too). lemme know if you want me to dig up my trip report from last year (it also included a trip to Weeki Wachee to see the mermaids). we're animal lovers too, and if you care at all about the animals, then 1 day won't be enough at BGT. . . .we went back on day 3 specfically to watch the cheetah run that they only do 1 time a day. (the rides are great there too, but we spent just as much time doing the animal stuff). hope my 2cents helps! -

DO NOT SKIP CEDAR DOWNS. it's awesome. (sheesh . . I'm with "Cedar Downs" at CP, like some are w/ the Pierogis at Knoebel's . . or others are with skyrides/flumes. ) -
wow. . that looks amazing. the texture in those cups is making my brain think "frozen". . but it's soft, like from the bowl. . so is it like eating frosting out of a tin, but just a bit firmer? what is the sweetness levels? (or does that depend totally on the flavor one is getting)? thanks for the report. . now I wanna try it. Eventually most of the places y'all go end up showing up in Austin, so hopefully some day that will be here too -- or the next time we're in NY or Orlando

I saw it onsite at the complex, but never actually had set foot inside disneyQuest. it was very interesting to read thru and see this report! thanks for sharing. -
Tower of Terror...the Japan one. I was very scared of Shiriki but on my next visit I loved him so much and now I have merchandise with him that I even sleep with. that's awesome! Thanks for the answer

I would like to know if there's something she was scared of, but went back and rode on a later trip and absolutely loved!

Don't let those who hate it discourage you. I LOVED Hydra when we went to Dorney (the 1 time). That slow jojo roll out of the station is wonderful. Talon, and Possessed are quite good too, and I enjoyed Steel Force, even tho it doesn't do all that much. If I'm recalling, the flume was fun too, even if there were no photos running when we were there, and we enjoyed quite a few of the flats (including the *only* operating Spider/Monster on the trip we were on that time). I also recall really liking the train that went out past the waterpark section. Did Dorney come in at the bottom of our list of parks this trip? yeah, but that's only because it was competing with: Knoebel's, Hersheypark, Kennywood, and all the History stuff (including the Franklin Institute) in Philly. but if we had ONLY gone to Dorney? would have still had a great time.

for anyone who was wondering, MRI found something, and so Primary Care sent me to Specialist today. Orthopedic Doctor confirmed tear (along with some arthritis), but did NOT want to go to surgery 1st. (he actually said - "I would never recommend surgery for the tear of the type you have). so instead, got a couple of Cortisone shots into my shoulder blade -- *hurt like hell* even with the topical numbing, and the supposed anesthetic included in the shots. he says I should see less pain in 36-48 hours. oh, and his diagnosis is "Frozen Shoulder". . which can take 1-3 years to resolve itself. most typical in adults between 40-60 years old. yay, age.

Oh darn. What a tragedy. This looks much more superior than Six Flags. It's crazy to see the difference a little theming can do to a coaster! um. . up against the quarry wall (and next to SKK in SFFT). . Wonder Woman is going to look and ride amazing (just as I expect the CGA version will too). and don't care it's a "clone". . it's gonna be great.

well then. this looks absolutely amaze-balls. I had mentioned to TBpony that I didn't think I'd be able to swing Coastermania! next year, as I'm using the vacation time for Dollywood. but with this announced now? . . yeah, gonna maybe work thru Thanksgiving to see if that will give me enough that i can make the trip to CP again! damn. . this thing is stunning. -

love the theming on the Enterprise. something as simple as a spiral in the center is just beautiful. -
Rammallah Swing Accident

I'm glad that it appears no one was seriously injured. all it took was looking at 1 comment, and I stopped. (just like I haven't been watching the news today. . . . and avoiding talking to my Jewish Dad, who voted for the folks that said NOTHING while this "new normal" was ramping up during the campaign. I really don't need to hear his justification for why he still doesn't regret his choices). I wish folks weren't such a-holes, but as has been said. . this is unfortunately the new normal. -
Celtic Fyre, yes. Britmania?. . .well. . . it was like listening to a bar cover band. . the musicianship is good, the staging is ok, but really not all that interesting. just our take on it. (we enjoyed the show performed in the Festhaus, tho it is very much a "theme park show". . but you can drink beer while watching

"Tiny Planet" - Like them or not?
bert425 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
no option for "one or two in each report would be kind of cool". . . so I chose "I'm indifferent" -
on an anti-inflammatory/pain med as of last night. the MRI today (2 hours, just got back from it). .is to take a look, but Dr. thinks it's serious. When he was examining me yesterday, there was no pain at all as he was prodding. So I said, "that's good, right?" his response was: "no, that's bad. . it means whatever is going on is deep in the tissue" and it's kind of confirmed that it might be something bad, as quickly as the insurance approved the MRI (from appointment made yesterday afternoon, to this morning, approval given). so *if* it's a torn rotator cuff, and it's a severe one? my Dr. will send me to a specialist, and likely will require surgery to fix. but dunno yet what treatment plan is going to be. . have to hear from Dr. based on MRI results in the next few days. I head to Atlanta in 3 weeks for Dragon*con. . so if need surgery, it will either be very quickly decided, or held until I get back from con.

.. so remember on TTD when I stupidly put my arms up for the picture (including my very sore left arm), and my arms whipped back and I saw stars? yesterday had to go to an emergency Dr visit due to extreme pain in my left arm/shoulder, and what felt like a "tear" on the inside of my upper arm with the warmth spreading down from shoulder to elbow. so today I went for an MRI. . . Dr. thinks it a deep Rotator Cuff Tear. . likely caused when my arm whipped back on TTD. still think it was worth it, if that's what started this mess. . . but getting old SUCKS.

I actually did sorta tell it, but it seems it got deleted. so apologies to Robb & Elissa, and the Mods, if it was over the line, didn't mean to cause any offense .. I just thought it was funny (if that is why the comment got deleted).
