The RCT III games/challenge thread
QueerRudie replied to QueerRudie's topic in Games Forum Moderators
Greetings Professor Falken. It has been a long time since you logged on. "Chess" "Checkers" "Backgammon" "Tic Tac Toe" "Eastern European Theater" "Western European Theater" "Southeast Asian Offensive" "Southeast Asian Defensive" "Pacifc Theater Offensive" "Pacific Theater Devensive" "African Peninsual" "Central American Theater" "Global Thermonuclear War" (And guess what I'm going to be making next....) -
The RCT III games/challenge thread

that sort of goes along with something I was thinking about... A 'Moderators challenge' amongs the Games Forum mods- and the rest of the ASSistants... something done for fun, but as a way of showing the rest of the forum that we're real people too. In some cases. Certain restrictions may apply. -

Awesome! Good luck on your band gig- that's amazing... I'll start to put together a 'draft' of the scenario- and let's see how she flies- -

The RCT III games/challenge thread

^ Actually- that's a great idea- and with some 'modifications' to the orginal scenarios (Theming, etc.) we could REALLY get some interesting entries! (And I understand about the busy part- I've been on the road now for 33 days straight... with no end in sight!) Lemme take a look-see over a few of the older scenarios and see what could be done to them; a few 'minor' tweaks to them would make for a HUGE carload of fun. -
So I've been thinking... We've yet to do a 'full scale' RCT III challenge- and I'll admit, my RCT III skills are, to be polite, shitty. I think we need to start considering doing the next TPR Challenge as a RCT III game- something simple, yet playable. As I'm pretty underdeveloped when it comes to RCT III (I've played it for the past three years- but I'm still not the best person at it), does anybody have a basic scenario to work with- something that could be modified or changed without too much difficulty, and is easily marketable? I was thinking of keeping the CrazyParkManager theme going, but make it something different- perhaps chasing after the long-sought after Vekoma looping coaster of doom, or to make it into a 'Vekoma-Challenge' with only Vekoma rides available to play with. I've got a few 'stashed' rides (Stock-coasters of the Vekoma/TOGO planform) as starter rides, but would like to see some input before going forward with the next challenge in two weeks time or so. Some other thoughts: I've been finding that we have a real gem available in the use of TPR's stock characters beyond Prince Desmond and CPM. I was thinking of getting some of the more prominent personalites (Big Mike, Hanno, etc) to let us use their images/personalites as part of future challenges- kind of a through-thought process to keep marketing the exchange as part of TPR's overall personality. A few examples: - Big Mikes' Bodacious Beauties challenge: Make voluptious coasters that Big Mike and his Minterns would be proud to call Big Mike Worthy - Hanno's Photogenic challenge: The rides need to be visually appealing when photographed- so scenery should be a key element of the challenge, as would rides that really 'pop' off the picture plane - Matt (MCJaco, yes you.) wants you to build the best enclosed ride possible. - Derek's NCSO scenery challenge: Build a park that the rides are themed as realistically as possible. I've also begun work on the FASTrack system for September roll-out- this is the next step in the Exchange's benefits system. While the details are still in the development stage (I've been working with a few of my employees on this, but we're also balancing work at the same time) it's starting to come together well. At this point, I've been planning in tiers of structure for different member levels- I.E. Picture our 'own' Frequent Gamer system where you earn points for things- but also can 'earn up' to higher and more impressive things as well. I've built into the system a lot of other future-use areas, including a 'Premium' level of membership (You get points bonuses/different benefits, etc.) that can be added after FASTrack is initiated. Just some of the things I've been working on- and hoping to get rolling soon. R.D.

Perhaps we should start to think about putting together a compete 'dossier' of all the clues, names, twitter accts, facebook accts. etc. together- as I sort of have a feeling we're missing a clue along the way- not to mention: It would be easier to spread the 'word' of what's the next step for this puzzle. In addition: For those of us flying into HP for the 'opening', Southwest Airlines is KEEPING MDT (Harrisburg, PA) on the route map- making it a bit cheaper to fly into for the 'longer distance' people out there. -
Having made the pilgrimage to Sahara a few brief weeks ago for my last blasts on S:TR, I was already feeling the 'dread' of the Sahara just before it closed it's doors; there is almost a feeling of 'ghosts' roaming around the hotel to a degree. Seeing these photos sort of puts the same feeling around- that something of doom is in the air. It's sad to see the old girl go like that, but like most of the older Strip hotels, that comes with the territory- whether we like it or not. Someday, this scene will be repeated at Mirage, or Circus Circus- or for that matter any of the hotels on the Strip. As Douglas Trumbull (Strip hotel designer) once said: "We're in the business of building the largest, most extravagant, most over the top temporary structures in the world." R.I.P Sahara- you gave us a lot of great thrills, good times, and funky decor!

Voting is up and running- the poll runs to early Tuesday due to time-zone difficulties- but we'll post it to close of business on Monday (Midnight, PDT) Everyone is open for voting, and I clarified the vote to make it easier for the 'less apt' members of the Forum/Exchange. I'll begin the verification process today (Just to be on the 'safe' side of things). C.P.M. will be announcing the winners on Tuesday morning in a week, as well as his choice for the other prize.

The TPR challenges right now are about ever four to six weeks or so- and we rotate the challenges from RCT II/III to NL. Right now, we're getting ready to start voting for this challenge. The best way to keep up with what's going on is to subscribe to the User Group for TPR's Games Exchange. You can find that HERE! And, of course, be sure to keep an eye out on the Forum for new stuff- including the Track of the Week Contest, as well as future fun and games relating to Roller-Coaster games and simulations! R.D.

For those attending DSB and are flying in: Southwest/AirTran is having a 72 hour sale on all flights in ALL Southwest/AirTran cities- with fares around 60% off their current fares (Example: Flights from Atlanta to Phoenix are now on sale for 120 each way- nornally, they're 229.00 each way; for closer-in cities, the fares can be even lower- as little as 40.00 each way) The sale ends on Thursday evening- and fares are -NEVER- this low. I have to agree with A.J. on this one- completely. I 305 is a great ride- but it is, for now, a one-of-a-kind. HersheyPark would not be investing in something that's a clone (or even a knock-off) of another park's ride. It's not their style- never has been, never will be. At HP there are only two 'production' coasters- a Wild Mouse and a Boomerang- and that's it. Every other coaster in the park is custom, designed to their needs, and wonderfully full of quirks (the 'uphill' block brake on sdL, for example, or the hoop-de-doo on Wildcat). Everything I've read, studied and followed obsessivly from the start of this obsessive-compulsive viral marketing campaign is saying everything BUT a clone of I305. It m ight share a common element in the lift-hill structure... but that's it- and no more. R.D. -
I'm thrilled with 18; i'd set a goal of 25- but 18 is still our best to date. I'm taking down the last of the entries now and will be posting the voting thread tommorow AM early- voting will close on Monday at midnight PST. (BTW: In San Fran right now- so may be more 'offline' than not for the next few days...)

As far as I remember, those are features that never came with RCT II; however, there might be a trainer/hack system that does that. Those features are more associated with RCT III. R.D. Games Forum Moderating Team -
Nope... The Challenge bags are overgrown- so they're more often than not a BOX!

To answer your question: Using the Start Menu, go to "Computer". THEN Go from there to "Program Files" Then from there to "Infogrames Interactive" THEN Look in the file marked "Objdata" for the missing files/utilites. You can also uninstall by inserting the disk into your drive, then using the same 'Computer' function above, click on the disk itself. Explore the disk fro the "Uninstall" Icon- and click it once. -
In a Hypnotic trance voice. Go play the TPR Challenge... Go Play the TPR Challenge... TPR Boxes of Crap to win... TPR Boxes of Crap to win.
