The "Preview" Thread

Just change the transitions. If there are only a couple of marginal hits, surely you can change the banking and transition so they don't hit. -
I just ordered a Canon XSi DSLR with an 18-55 lens, an extra battery and a memory card. Just shy of $700.

One of our reporters talked to someone who said it costs around $40 million to fly it from California back to Florida.

Yeah. I think the water setting is pretty cool. Half the ride's over water. Hopefully it'll never stall on the lift. -

Last night, I got word that the space shuttle Discovery was going to fly from Edwards Air Force Base in California and stop in to Amarillo, Texas, where I live. I got up and went with a group of friends to the airport to catch a glimpse of the space shuttle piggybacking atop a modified 747. We were not disappointed. It's incredible. Because we work at the newspaper, we tagged along with a photographer and were given a little closer access to the plane/shuttle. No, we didn't get anywhere near it while it was refueling, but it did taxi by us maybe 50 feet away. That was amazing. I brought my Fujifilm FinePix F650 and an old Pentax Spotmatic II film SLR. I'm going to get the film developed tomorrow. If those shots turned out, I'll scan them and add them to this thread. Both my batteries on my digi died, and I only had two rolls of film, so I didn't get it taking off. But I have all these! And yours truly, a crazy guy. We were practically next to the taxiway as the 747 passed us to get to the end of the runway and take off. The lead plane takes off for Fort Worth, Texas. As the 747 gets ready to leave, the emergency vehicles leave. A bad picture of the film camera I was using. Staircase pulls up. Hundreds of people showed up to see it. The last time the shuttle was here was two years ago. It waited on a dog leg on the end of the runway. After this, we hopped in a car and drove along the road to get a closer view. NASA folks, though not the people who just returned from space. It nears the end of the runway. Ahhh! There it is! A fuel truck. A bunch of people came out of it. The tail of the lead plane. This is the lead plane. It landed about 15 minutes before the piggyback.

My most difficult class was a media law class I took in college. I had to take it twice, but I did much better the second time. I first took it my sophomore year, so I was sort of still learning the ropes, and it was the first class in my major, and it just beat the heck out of me. By junior year, it was better. How dare they hold the class to the same standard as other classes, especially English classes.

I bought a photo from The New York Times for $230, and I'm having it framed for $130. I'll show it off when I get it back. It's impressive.

Help with NL Coaster
haux replied to ced's topic in Roller Coaster Games, Models, and Other Randomness
I might be able to help. But I will say that looking at your pictures, I think you need to look closer at real coasters. Look at B&M inverted coasters and try to imitate their style of supports. Yours are all over the place. And get rid of that awful brake in that turn. That'll never work. -
Don't bother with any of it. You're 14.

I've been working on this coaster for a while. Trackwork's done, I guess, so I'm working on supports. Not sure if I'll release it. The finale has four ejector-airtime hills in a row. The second tunnel gives a great headchopper in the back seat. Second drop. Supports are obviously not finished. Custom supports on the lift hill. Not finished with those. -

You should make that final brake run more realistic. They should be the stationary brakes, not the kind that can move out of the way. -

Are those supports 3-D or hand-built? Because if they're the NoLimits supports, WHOA! Impressive. I bet that took a lot of time. -
Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said

Sounds like someone who either works for Amusement Today or votes in the Golden Ticket Awards. Or he's just jazzing things up. The ride hosts there get really proud of their rides, and if MF takes first in the Golden Tickets, they're going to spout that. But he was probably just joking around. Why shouldn't they have fun on their ride and play off like working on the best ride ever is great? -

The supports! My eyes! -
When you go to your feed, hover your cursor over that particular entry. On the right, a little menu thing will come up. You can choose to hide that person or hide that application. When they ask you to join, there's some small text on the bottom left that says "Block this application" or something like that.

Lakeside Cyclone has reopened...
haux replied to Flyingcoasterfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I rode Cyclone in 2006, and I didn't find it rough. It's got some odd transitions and banking, but the padding is so comfortable, you don't get jarred around. It's an awesome classic coaster. -
You can block the application. I've done that and hidden all those stupid updates, and I don't see them anymore.

Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread

I've probably missed this conversation because this thread exploded, but I'm really wondering about Intamin's switch from years of one style of track and tubular supports to this crazy double spine and square supports. I wonder what prompted the change. The cost of steel? -

YouTube comments shouldn't count as the dumbest things the GP say. Because the comments on YouTube are stupid no matter what the topic. -

Game Day Grille opened in 2005, I believe. Maybe 2004, but I think that's when Famous Dave's opened. -
