  1. Now my 705 rides on Raptor seem like nothing. Naw. Compared to this guy, I have a life. Hahaha.
  2. Because no other wooden coaster does? That was the main gimmick the park advertised when it opened.
  3. I worked as a sweep at Cedar Point for three summers. We'd pick up change and hand it in to our crew leader at the end of our shift. I counted all the change I found every day, and I added it up at the end of the season. I found about $56 in coins in just under three months. I gave it all to my supervisors, who had a few tubs they collected all the crews' change in.
  4. Finally, a park for nerds! Edit: I can't even imagine how insane the fanboys for this park will be. If you thought the SFGAdv or Carowinds fanboys were bad, these kids will completely show them up.
  5. I just did my fairly short list too. I've got to ride more woodies. What's sad is I last rode my two favorite woodies in 2002. But what's good about having so few coasters is that doing the poll is much easier. I can actually rank all these from best to worst. I can't do that with my steel list, which is at 98, I think. Maybe I'll do the 1 for good, 5 for bad thing for the steel list. Last year I was able to do the ranking all method, but I think I rode about 20 new steel coasters since then.
  6. The article says the ride inspector told them that. Maybe the reporter interpreted "jumps" as "launches" or whatever you want to call what these things do. The article doesn't talk about bungee jumping. One paragraph mentions "jumps." Blah. From whatever snapped, it seems to me like it'd be the rubber cords, not the cable ride. The cable ones use springs to move around, so if anything, the springs would be the things breaking, not the cords. Anyone think there will be a follow-up article after the investigation goes through? It's on a TV news site, so I kind of doubt it.
  7. Are you worried about getting thousands of reports once one of them shows up? I'm sure you'd rather get tons of reports than have someone reply to the spam. But, do you think you can find a way to control it? Maybe after so many views, you could tell people not to report it because it's more than likely already been reported. Or am I just blowing smoke?
  8. I think he thought it would be an easier problem to fix than it really was. Things started off geared toward exactly how he wanted it. There were parades and more costumed characters. But reality hit. The company's still in debt, and it simply doesn't have the budget to do everything he said during his first tenure. I think we may see all this stuff get fixed as the years go on. He hasn't given up. He's just facing reality.
  9. I visit parks for fun. I don't care that this ride's a B&M and this one's a Vekoma. I ride because they're fun. I guess I'm a member of the general public, except I know too much about big steel things that make you go up and down and through loops. Hurr. Coasters. If there's a know-it-all in line, I laugh to myself. If it's an ACEr, I laugh to his face. Just go and have fun. Don't think about being an enthusiast. If you want to stand out, ride a ride 35 times in a day and wear a shirt from a park 300 miles away. Nerd.
  10. I think it's a good thing. Taking some time off is good. Don't become like me. I'm an old man who can't get enough of any park that's within close distance of me. I visited Six Flags Elitch Gardens maybe nine or 10 times this season, and that park isn't good! But I did it because I'm completely insane! I haven't gone through that phase yet, but I don't know what it's like to interact with humans. You're in good shape.
  11. Haha. "Out-of-town roller coaster weirdos." Oh, it's true.
  12. Quoted for truth. In second, Millennium Force in the back seat.
  13. You might want to edit your video description. The ride was radar-clocked at 117 mph when the video was filmed. I've heard a lot of different speeds. I'll just say 100-plus mph.
  14. This so-called announcement doesn't say anything about this being the steepest drop. So what is the "most of" this ride has? I'm not seeing it in the announcement, unless my previous guess of the most theming on a Cedar Fair ride is it.
  15. Why is this on Experience the Point and not CP's website? If this is the actual press release, this has been the worst way of keeping a ride under wraps before the official announcement I've ever seen. Edit: What the heck is going on? Robb posted in this thread doubting the user's because of the address registered to the name, and then the massive thread was closed with me having the last post. Haha.
  16. That's the default. Technically, the secret is out on that day, and they're nog going to have someone updating the site by the minute just to change an automatic Snoopy flying by. Also, sheesh. This thread's ridiculous but fun. And I'm only really posting to keep up. It's hard to go through eight pages after you last post, so I just go to my most recent post. What's new since I last posted? Nothin'! Ahhhh!
  17. Sheesh. I hope they find the person who leaked that and fire him or her. They just couldn't wait a day. That said, wheee! This looks really cool. From the video, this looks like the "most of" will be theming. There is no Cedar Fair park with theming like this. Two water fountains too. That's great. I liked the LIM scream in the tunnel. I hope CP has an on-ride animation when it's announced tomorrow. EDIT: Are those brakes after the launch on that incline? That's lame!
  18. That's probably because there are no track or supports showing up. Cedar Point's in full-fledged construction. This thread should pick up once we see it go vertical. That said, this coaster looks really exciting!
  19. Yeah, but it's not for rehabs. It's just open on weekends now. Rehab isn't done until the offseason, though I'm sure they do inspections and work on some things during weekdays.
  20. You're going to have to be way more specific than just "the dude." Do you mean the man getting stapled? That's Sandor Kernacs, the president of Intamin, which is the company that built Xcelerator.
  21. Edit: I found it, and I'm uploading it to YouTube. Expect a link here in a few. Edit2: Enjoy!
  22. Ah, jeez. I read the article twice and somehow missed that both times. Odd. OK. Cool. Now what's it going to be? Speed? If it goes 130 mph, they're going to have to throw brakes all over the place because of the size of the elements. Length? It doesn't appear to be able to have more than 8,000 feet of track. Most of ... hmm. Inversions? I guess I'll have to go with that now. That's great. I've said it once, and I'll say it again. Cedar Point has gone far too long without building a coaster with inversions. This is a much-needed ride.
  23. That article said nothing about any records being broken.
  24. All right, it's September. Let's go with Elissa-friendly food month. (Is this going to be all McDonald's?)
  25. That's what I was wondering, but as Bryan pointed out, apparently this type of attraction doesn't use magnetic brakes. Too bad the company has to learn the hard way.
