Worker at SF Great America Dies
haux replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ You're right. I'll stop derailing. It does suck that he fell. It says a he was using a harness, but they're not sure what happened. I wonder what happens now? I'm sure they'll investigate to see if it was improperly secured or if it broke. -
Worker at SF Great America Dies
haux replied to mcjaco's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There are a number of reasons that might not have been the headline. Maybe it didn't fit in the space alloted in the actual newspaper, and it wasn't changed online. I didn't read it as Great America worker dying, though I see how that can be confused. Bah. I just get this way because I am a part of the American media, so when people get all worked up over little things like this, I get worked up too. -

It says, "Worker at Great America," you clod! Jeez. You pasted the article, and you don't even get that part right. Then you try to blame it on "typical American journalism." Give me a break. And it's not inaccurate. He was a worker, he was at Great America. What's the deal? You're wrong. Simple as that. Also, you used the wrong "its" in saying it is "journalism at it's finest." Journalism at it is finest? That doesn't make sense. -
which theme park best accommodates foreigners?

Universal Studios in California has maps in seven or eight different languages. And the guy who plays Groucho knows a few phrases in a few languages. That help? -
[NL] The Raven (v1.3 released!)

Better. Though you still have tires in the station. Also, that last part of track entering the brakes is banked with the brake there. No biggie since the brake fins don't collide with the brake clamp, but keep an eye out on stuff like that in the future. -
Gold Reef City - Tower of Terror

The loop was also a circle, not teardrop shaped, so that helped add to the discomfort. -

haux replied to Noxegon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Actually, I don't think that was ever proven. She could have had the aneurysm burst on the lift hill. Wasn't one of the modifications to Tower of Terror adding OTSRs because it originally had lap bars? -

Tunnels colliding isn't a problem unless two trains are in that area at the same time. -

I'm running the most recent NoLimits. Try running it in 25 percent speed. If you don't get them, maybe my computer hates me. That wouldn't be the first time. -

You still have red G spikes. Watch it in 25 percent speed. I only looked in the front row. And just making the tires disappear in the station doesn't make it right. Angle the station downward. Gravity needs to get that train out of the station, not tires. The same goes for those brakes in the brake run. Gravity. Not invisible tires. The color's a bit better. Be sure to use those custom colors more often. They're great. Look at these screenshots, and pay attention to the G-forces. You've got to work on those. More banking, wider turns, etc. Eight. EIGHT G's entering the brake run. We're dead. Or at least going to the hospital with broken necks. 3.4 lateral G's? My body! Look at the negative vertical G's. Ouch! -

Wow. Viper looks impressive with that paint job. -

Build the coaster higher. Instead of making the station 10 feet off the ground, make it 30 feet. Build the terrain around that. To get the right color, you'll have to customize the colors. When choosing the color, click on "Define Custom Colors," and choose there. -

It's decent. There are some red G spikes. Ride in the front seat and the back seat. There's a red negative G-force in the second hill, and there are some red lateral G's in the turns after the fifth drop. The turn over the lake is too banked. The last big turn to the right is a little too banked, and it's shaped funny. The read turn swoops downhill a bit. There are tires in the station and brake run when there shouldn't be. It should all be gravity. The final brake run is a little short. The color is still off a little. It should be lighter. This looks like the wood was stained. The terrain was only barely tinkered with too. The ravine the first drop is in is deeper. Work on it a bit more. Watch the G-force spikes in the red. -

I haven't downloaded it yet, but from the picture I can see two things that are wrong. The color is too dark and red, and you should be using the stair step supports. -

I've never even heard of Eagle Fortress. Wow. I need to find more pictures of it if it's really that good. Maverick is No. 10. I'm pretty impressed. And Blue Flash would have been No. 180, but it had fewer than six riders. Thanks in part to me! Haha. -
2 KingDa Ka Questions
haux replied to IwantRevenge's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
There are a lot of minor things that were changed between the two. The supports below the pull-in to the hill are V-shaped on Kingda Ka. They're just vertical on Dragster, and the track sways a lot when a train launches. The launch track is longer on KK, I believe. The motor room is farther back on KK than TTD. Lots of little improvements were made. As for lap bars, aren't T-bars illegal in New Jersey, thanks to Ed Markey? That's why El Toro has the different lap bar. -
What are the G Force readings of...
haux replied to Tanks4me05's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The entire premise of this thread makes me laugh. It's all opinion. Who's to say that 3.8 G's isn't forceful? It's nearly four times the force of what you're feeling sitting in your seat right now. I'm amused that you want "evidence" that Hydra and the Batman rides "aren't crap" by measuring their G-forces. Who's to say they are or aren't? Wow. -

Is that a model of Great American Scream Machine? Or is it a model of an early design of Viper? -

Yeah, but Florida is bigger than the bottom part of the Hudson Bay, so America wins for having a bigger penis than Canada. -
Sea World Abu Dhabi back on the docket for 2022
haux replied to ginzo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Jeez, people. Use freaking Google instead of looking like idiots. Also, Dubai gets about 6 percent of its revenue from oil, so it's not trying to build up when the oil reserves run out. It's something else. I blame a rich sultan mad with power. And maybe a tiny penis since he wants the tallest buildings in the world. -

Hopefully Dubai can actually sustain this park. It's growing faster than people are coming in.
