  1. AJR - Burn the house down https://youtu.be/ozbnTScWups Peking Duck - Fire Hmm... lol
  2. Late to the party again and a month or two behind on some TPR threads, but thoroughly enjoyed the reports, especially the lantern and sunrise photos! Sounds like an awesome ride on DaKa (why do I giggle every time I see King Daka?). One day I'll get to the piers.... one day.... I always forget they exist before we hit up Great Adventure and the only time we could probably make it work is a long weekend... I'm guessing labor day weekend is a bad idea, though.
  3. Wow! That sounds absolutely amazing. Happy for all of you lucky SOB's
  4. Higher prices at Fantasy Island? After taxes and fees for a single season pass it was **$40.82** and that includes parking, friend passes, etc. I think last season is was ~$34. I don't know how they stay in business with such cheap passes. They used to charge a WHOLE lot more before Apex came in (even more than Darien Lake's season pass!) I agree that the one day full price ticket isn't worth it, but even if you buy *one* pass for $40 and use the bring a friend anytime ticket you are paying less than $20 for a single day ticket if you go with someone. If you only go ONCE it's still cheaper to buy a pass and use the unrestricted friend ticket. lol. I have no clue how they are surviving to be honest. I just bought a 2019 pass today as it's good for this year as well as next and all the benefits for this year and next year. And I'm really just curious just how bad the Halloween event is. You get a free ticket for Friday nights Halloween event in addition to the unrestricted ticket. If your post is any indication of crowds I will pick a day to marathon Silver Comet. See if I can beat my previous record of 119 rides in a single day lol. I haven't been to the park since working there back in... 2006? Damn I'm old. I'm curious how much the Six Flags Darien Lake pass will go for in September. I'm guessing $55 + taxes and fees. Excited for that, too. Unless they only go the discounted membership route this year. I guess we'll see. EDIT: found an official source. A 2016 pass to Martin's Fantasy Island was $69.99 plus tax/fees for a single person. I don't know how anyone can complain about their prices when they went to an all time low with Apex. Decreased *perceived* value due to the parking charge, maybe, but in actuality it's a hell of a deal and is way less to go than the Martin's day. Hell, looking at their discounts page it seems to me they aren't even charging absorbent $$$ for food and drink.
  5. So the second half of the tower spiral thing is just for decoration... right? It looks like the actual ride is about half way up where the stairs are. Or am I completely missing something. Just seems weird to me? (shrug)
  6. Speaking of teasers... If you pause the video at the exact moment it flashes on screen, right before the 8/15, you will get your first glance of the coaster... I use that term loosely, lol. Sneaky sneaky. SOURCE: Canada's Wonderland Facebook Also: Dinos Alive was officially announced to be ending this year EDIT: wow, I'm dumb. DOM497 beat me to it a long time ago.
  7. Glad you had a good time. You're right, the vegetarian options are very limited. I do like that the website outlines everything for vegetarian, vegan, egg free, etc. For vegetarians you get: Soft Pretzels - Cart locations around the park Auntie Anne's Pretzels & Nuggets Strawberries with Whipped Cream- Festhaus, LaRosa's International St., LaRosa's Rivertown, Skyline Chili International St., Coke Market Place Coleslaw - Reds Hall of Fame Grille Fresh cut Fries - Rivertown Potato Works Mac-n-Cheese - Festhaus, Snoopy Grill, Reds Hall of Fame Grille Burrito Bowl - Hank's Burrito Shack Side Salad- Festhaus, International St. LaRosa's & Rivertown LaRosa's Hope you like pretzels!
  8. ^ When I used to work at (Martin's) Fantasy Island, I always thought it was crazy how many days they closed for rain or just rain in the forecast and always would say to myself that NO other park would ever operate this way... and now 16 years later I stand corrected, lol. Definitely makes it frustrating for someone who has to travel many many hours to get to a Six Flags park... :-/ I mean, I get it, it's a cost saving measure obviously when they wouldn't be making money, but man does it suck sometimes.
  9. Whhhaaaatttt... the one flat ride I actually like?
  10. Another Discovery Cove lover! -- see, even those that think it will be dumb have an awesome time. It's impossible not to enjoy yourself and with all the inclusions to other parks it's well worth the price.
  11. The only truly "bad' Halloweekend is Columbus day weekend.... once the haunts start that'll bring some of the wait down for the rest of the night. Good luck with that. Columbus Saturday typically hits the record, but Saturdays in October are not a fun time. FP+ is needed if you want to ride any big rides and have any sanity left.
  12. The pass allows the person with the disability along with 3 others. If there are more than 3 others than they need to wait in the regular line and meet up in the station. Funny, I have seen this strictly enforced at Six Flags Great America that a 45 minute altercation went on the Goliath platform because someone refused to leave without riding with their group of 6 or 7. Security was there and she just kept yelling. The person with the disability must be riding for the guests to be able to ride. If they do not ride than the guests cannot ride (the pass shows identifiable information and at some Cedar Fair parks your get a stamp or wristband) Not directed at you, but in general keep in mind people have invisible disabilities. Remember they are still waiting in line, just outside of the queue. While it may be seen as unfair as they can wait in a short queue simultaneously as the virtual queue, I think they do a good job with it given the circumstances. I think Cedar Fair should adopt the doctor's note policy that Six Flags has, though. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt because you really never know why someone may need to virtually queue and are not able to wait in s long line due to health issues.
  13. Worked for my whole group last year; I was the only one with Platinum but my pass worked for everyone. Haven't bought FL+ this season yet, however.
  14. Finally got around to reading everything... great stuff. Really looking forward to getting to Silver Dollar City one day. I didn't know much about it outside of Outlaw Run (and now Time Traveler). Looks like they have a bunch of other great rides too I wasn't aware of. I'd also love to go to Japan, but closed rides always seem to be a theme. Granted I'd enjoy more than just the theme parks, but still. Looking forward to hearing and seeing more about the Japan trip! Tokyo Disneysea is on my bucket list...
  15. First *Sunday*. Keep in mind PointFest falls on Saturday, September 15th. No thank you. I can't legitimately speak for Friday nights as I've never been but early on I'd imagine it wouldn't be too bad. Keep in mind that there are no scare zones on Sundays as well. Also the only other downside to the day after PointFest is you can't park in the CP Shores parking lot since they put the stage out there.
  16. Can't believe I left this thread as neglected as I did. I just spent the last hour catching up, but still have another 50 posts to go >.< -- very informative reports and great photos, too! Looking forward to reading the rest and catching up on the rest of the thread soon. Tons of great info in these, thanks for taking the time to write these up.
  17. You can see on some of the shots that they appear to have more (though I haven't compared 1:1) of the "flippy fins" along the track that force rotations than the other free spins in the US. It also seems like there is a lot less friction on the spins too, so with both of those things combined... damn. Really wish we had one like that here.
  18. Pulling this one out of the archives again... it brings such joy.
  19. When I saw you got fast passes for monsters Inc I was so confused. I was thinking of the laugh factory counterpart in Florida. All in Japanese. What fun would that be for all of you? lol. Then it all made sense. That ride sounds neat (especially since there are no screens!) Anyway, keep up the AMAZING reports. Love it.
  20. Domm: You said you had Platinum passes. If you decide to buy FL+ you will save $25 per person this upcoming Friday with the Platinum discount that is only available at the park. You get FL+ for the price of regular Fast Lane. It's a huge money saver, so definitely wait until the day-of. Cedar Point is the only park in the chain that offers this discount.
  21. ^ Sunday the first weekend of halloweekends ALWAYS has light crowds for the rides (and the lightest you'll ever find for the houses). By 2:00 (and probably sooner) all the rides in the front are always a walk-on. We usually do all the rides and all the houses by 5pm or so. We do it every year. One of the best times to go and you get the bonus of the houses without experiencing the craziness of the Saturdays at the park. A lot of the houses we just went through by ourselves because there was no wait. It's awesome. -- I can't speak for Friday nights as I've never been. Also: Steel Vengeance can always alter crowds in the back at the beginning of the day, so it's hard to say where you should start this year. We always come for early entry so that is a factor in our timing too.
  22. Great photos and report! I misread the sign and realized they missed a great opportunity to sell Bud Light in buzz lightyear souvenir cups... Bud Lightyear!
  23. Great update as always. I'm not the biggest fan of Disney overall but all of this new stuff like Pandora and the things coming down the pipeline are pretty exciting. I'll be back soon.
