  1. This may be a weird question, (but then again, what on this forum isn't?) but what's the best layout on any coaster you've ever ridden/seen? Steel, wood, aqua, whatever. Not looking for best rides altogether, just the layout itself. Whether it's twisty, lofty, straight, compact, or makes good use of the terrain, post it. My vote will have to go to Thunderhead at Dollywood. Runners up are Silver Bullet and Vild-Svinet.
  2. ^Speaking of which, how much airtime do you think The Wave (that 90 degree airtime hill, not to be confused with wave turn) will have?
  3. If Intamin could drop the price to somewhere around 11 million dollars, I'd love to see a park like SFDK or Kennywood to get one. I have heard no good things about Exterminator and the demolition of it could lead to some great things.
  4. It's about time testing started. Looks beautifully brutal and I can't wait for a chance to ride this beast. Why does the main drop remind me so much of X2s? Hopefully the drop has loads of airtime in the back half of the train.
  5. Straying a bit off topic to ask a question: Do you guys think that Jaguar is any good? I haven't ridden it in ages and (for some reason) it was still in my Top 30 Steel Coasters list.
  6. I shouldn't be one to talk because I've never ridden a Wingrider before, but the keyholes on the Zero G roll look to be the highlight of the ride so far. It's gonna feel like your legs are about to be chopped off, and I love it when coasters do that.
  7. I made my way down to Valleyfair and Sea World San Diego for the first time last year and was shocked by how amazing Renegade and Manta were. Both are now on my top ten, but I still have fonder memories of Renegade's first drop on our first ride because of my sister flipping out over it. I'd call that a "highlight worthy" moment.
  8. ^Is that the official new train design? If so, I'm dying to ride this new one. That outward bank and way-beyond-vertical drop will be amazing with that loose of a restraint system. Do you know how much Circus Circus is dropping on this thing? Flamingoland droped about 4 million pounds on theirs, but I feel as though this one might cost a bit more. (Original trains for those of you who don't remember: http://rcdb.com/4308.htm?p=22797 ) Edit: I meant to say 4 million Euros, which in todays money is about 5.4 million USD.
  9. AWESOME! I finally have a chance to ride one of these things! And that means that Las Vegas is actually getting a good coaster! I think the world is coming to an end or something.
  10. Sorry for phrasing my question the wrong way the first time. So that means that there's not a testing video, correct? If so, when is the soonest we can see one?
  11. Granted, but all the characters will be replaced with Nick Jr. characters. I wish this thread wouldn't die.
  12. Wow, this coaster is almost halfway finished! Yolocoaster better step up his game.
  13. ^I was meaning in terms of videos. Live action ones, not the "Through the Barrel Roll" stuff two pages back.
  14. I haven't been keeping up on this as well as I should: Has any testing happened yet?
  15. You are now the most respectable person on this thread. Congratulations. And in all honesty, what's with the complaining about KBF's capacity problems? I haven't been there in a while, but it couldn't have gotten that bad... Could it have?
  16. ^How good is that ride? Also, Pocky at SFMM. One ride in the backseat at night alone made this coaster rocket up to my Top Ten. This ride is that good, and was a great finale to a day at SFMM. Do you realize how amazing this first drop is?
  17. Oh come on. Why did my thread move to this? I was asking a completely different question.
  18. Oh great and powerful Title Fairy; I ask you with the best of intentions towards your good will: Would you be so kind as to change my title to "IT BEGINS"? T'would be much appreciated.
  19. For some reason, I really like the CoasterMania picture. Maybe it's because they actually posted pictures of their real rides, after me being so used to the crap I let Six Flags get away with.
  20. X-Flight looks really nice in the snow, but then again, which B&Ms don't? When does this park open up again?
  21. I just now found out about Google Patents today and now know where all of my free time in the forseeable future will go. Thought you'd be interested in this one, made by Bolliger & Mabillard in 2008: Correct me if I'm wrong, but this looks as though it could be a spinning flying/laydown coaster. Original search: http://www.google.com/patents/EP1201280B1?cl=en&dq=inassignee:%22Bolliger+%26+Mabillard%22&hl=en&sa=X&ei=TmsSUdSWM4z-2QXymICQDg&ved=0CEUQ6AEwBg
  22. Just something interesting you may want to know is that these trains will have 16 people to a train rather than the usual 8 or 6, so it's not all that likely that Gertslauer will develop the lap bars with it. I personally am hoping for the OTSRs, which means a smaller envelope, which means (hopefully) more close calls and headchoppers.
  23. ^^^I know it's a bit improbable, but it looks awesome! I mean, Daemonen at Tivoli Gardens was sweet, why wouldn't this be? About the Starflyer: I think it's going to look a bit wierd against the Grona Skyline, but I guess I'm okay with it. Now that I think about it, it's kind of like if Cedar Point built Top Thrill Dragster in the 80s.
  24. The Riddler having only one train isn't all that big of a deal. I went there on a Saturday during Fright Fest when there was only one train, and we still only had to wait about 8 minutes for a front seat ride. It's lost a lot of popularity in the last few years ever since the demolishing of Freefall.
  25. Fixed. And no, I'm not joking. If you score a front or back car ride, this is probably the most fun coaster at Valleyfair. (I know that Renegade and Steel Venom are better rides, but there's a nice sense of joy when you ride this one.) I love this thing, no pun intended. And about Renegade having trims, I rode it last summer and there were none when both trains were running. Unless they added them since last July, it doesn't have any.
