It just amazed me
dougstanton replied to calcajun's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I do understand how you are thinking with that. It is kind of like how fat people blame fast food restaurants for them being fat. This I think is a different issue. They have to run a safe park. They are so worried about you bringing things on the rides just in case they come out and hit someone. There is no reason for them to have a roller coaster out in the open where anybody can access it. What if a little kid, who doesn't know what he is doing, runs away from his parents, and as his parents are chasing after him, he runs right into the way of a roller coaster? -
They no longer have fast pass. If you are staying the entire day, it would be great to ride around closing time. Since it is Wednesday, it shouldn't be too busy anyways. I went last Thursday and the longest I waited was 30 minutes.

"Design The Next TPR T-Shirt" Contest!!!
dougstanton replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I agree. I love that first design. That drawing just has too much to focus on, and I am not too sure that it would look good on a T Shirt. The "Its all about the credits" shirt gets to the point and is perfect. One thing though...if that shirt did win, especially with me being OCD haha, using correct grammar it would be "it's". -
^^ Just in case you didn't know this...A gay rule that I found out about Lake Winnie a couple of weeks ago. You have to be 21 to go in by yourself, if not you need to be accompanied by a guardian that is over the age of 21 It is the most pathetic thing I have heard about any theme park....talk about turning away a big part of the business....teenagers.

^^ I heard that it was rough and no one enjoys getting their head banged into shoulder harnesses. -

Well I wouldn't want a clone of Colossus because I heard that sucked. As of now the only record it can beat is...smallest footprint for what is supposed to be a major coaster...I am interested to see where the rest of the footers show up and what possibly may need to be knocked down for it. I say...Knock down Mean Streak so that you have a lot more room for the ride...and then use the wood to build the station . -
Worlds Best Topspin
dougstanton replied to pkd804's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Kings Island is on a cycle that holds your head upside down for what feels like forever, and you actually hear people screaming in pain. My head was actually throbbing. It wasn't anywhere near fun, just plain hell. The only others I have been on are at Six Flags Great Adventure and Geauga Lake. The Geauga Lake one you can normally tell them what cycle you want because people going to that park is nonexistent with daily crowds averaging around 2,000, you have the park to yourself. -

I normally go by wether or not it is on rcdb.com. -
coasterfriendly, This applies to all roller coasters that have 3 rows in each car. Always take the middle row if it is a rough ride. You will get a completely different experience. The wheels bouncing around can make the ride rougher when you are sitting on top of them. In the middle row you have nothing below you....making it a MUCH smoother ride.

Cyclone is so much more rough than GASM. Honestly, for wood, GASM isn't bad at all. If you don't sit on a wheel seat, it makes a hell of a difference also.

Is Boss Good Or Bad?
dougstanton replied to EuroTre's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I can tell you that G-trains are just terrible. I have heard that Voyage is very smooth. Name change, company buyout, whatever it is, it is the same manufacturer as Cheetah at Wild Adventures. Cheetah is very rough and has G-trains. I think the trains cause all of the problems, leading me to assume that The Boss is rough. -
I have never been to any of the Ohio parks and will be leaving early early Tuesday (5/30) morning to go to Holdiay World, PKI, Cedar Point, and Geauga Lake. Although I have never heard of a single person that loves Son of Beast, I really want that credit...just the whole experience of it. Do any of you know what date it is planned to reopen?

dougstanton replied to coasterdave's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
^^ Haha. Although you still think it is good, that kind of pissed on the parade of repetitive number 1s. I will be riding this thing in 13 days. I have never been to Holiday world either, so The Raven and The Legend will also be new to me. This will definitely take over my #1 wood spot considering I haven't been on that many. S:ROS at SFNE is my #1 ride overall, and I have heard by some that this may even knock that off and become my overall favorite ride. -
What next for Magic Mountain?
dougstanton replied to TheMan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^ That is correct, but I am saying that it takes a very long time for them to pay off a coaster. I think I heard that Tatsu was around $22 million. I have read in the newspaper that when parks add a new coaster, it takes them at least 5 years just to pay it off. You have to take away from their profit the cost of the food, their employees, the operation of all of the rides, just all of the things that go into making a park. Also the millions of dollars in debt the company is. I am not saying that the park shouldn't have put Tatsu in. My park just got a $20 million GOLIATH. I am just saying that some of you seem to believe that because the crowds are bigger right now, Tatsu will easily get paid off. -

dougstanton replied to TheMan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Just because the park was full doesn't mean they are paying off Tatsu. They would over a very long time, but you have to consider the people that would have gone to the park anyways. The only money you could consider paying off Tatsu is the people that went there strictly for that. There are also many people with season passes. The park isn't making admission money from them. -
Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
dougstanton replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well considering that y'all/ya'll stands for "you all", wouldn't it make more sense to be y'all considering that splits the two words? Anyways, I can't wait for this new ride. Although a lot of people are going along with the Aquatrax idea, I think that is only because of that one rumor. I just can't imagine Cedar Point getting one. People were wrong when the first pieces of MF track came in. It happened to be the skinny track they use on the brake run. Everybody thought it would be a wild mouse. What MF is, is far from that haha. I am convinced that this is going to be a very long and tall ride....possibly beating the height record but with a lift hill. -

Windows Media Player cannot play the file because the specified protocol is not supported. If you typed a URL in the Open URL dialog box, try using a different transport protocol (for example, "http:" or "rtsp:"). That comes up when I try to watch the video. Does anybody know what I can do to fix it, or do you have it saved onto your computer which you could then upload for me? Thanks. -
This is just my opinion, but I think the only thing that should be considered a parking lot coaster is something that is literally just plopped on the parking lot. Scream was just thrown there and they didn't even paint over the lines. It doesn't really matter if that area used to be a parking lot. They are just expanding, and did things to keep it looking good. They possibly planted grass or put huge rocks. Any of that looks so much better than leaving the parking space lines.
