Six Flags and B&M Inverters
dougstanton replied to Milkchan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^ I would have to disagree with you. Montu is longer than DD and also has a lot more elements. It is a much better coaster, IMO. DD isn't very intense at all unless you sit in the last row. -

Regarding DD's paint job, I think that it is supposed to look like that. I had never seen the different shades of gray on the supports until this past March when I was there. They also tried to do some shading on the track itself, I think. I think they are going for an aged look, and this is the way they want it to look. -

I have ridden Montu and think that it is alot better than Batman. Batman is short, but it is a great ride for Six Flags to have, as it takes up very little space, and is rather intense, never letting up until the end. -
April 7-SFOG TR

GOLIATH has some of the most airtime I have ever gotten on a ride, so I don't know what your cousin is talking about. It is not true at all that the GASP could have stayed. GOLIATH's station is exactly where it used to be. -

I am 100% positive they are the same trains. I talked to some people high up in the park and they said that the final days of painting ended yesterday. They are now working to make it a smoother ride by replacing the wheel assemblies. It will open 4/15. -

After you think of how much money the park makes...a couple of parachutes means nothing. There is too much work for it to be completed by the weekend. Although they are the same old trains, there are a lot of rumors of new wheel assemblies. If so, there is a lot of testing that will need to be done before opening. I definitely believe the May 1st date. I wouldn't want to get anybody's hopes up because I am 95% sure it will not open this weekend. -

No. The date I have heard is May 1st. That was straight from the operations manager. -
Well, supposedly it was a lot busier today than on the weekend. I didn't go today, but I went Saturday and Sunday and it wasn't busy at all. I called a number telling me how many people were in the park today and it said 12,000. If you don't really have a good feel for how busy that is, that is the average amount of people that go on a weekday during the summer. If you went sometime last year, you would have a good idea.

Yeah. They weren't fully done in the picture. I went on Sunday and they still have 2 or 3 left. -
I have been on Nitro and S:ROS at NE. Goliath suprisingly beats Nitro. They basically have the same layout, but the only thing I can think of is possibly the height to speed ratio being better on Goliath. The airtime is a lot better than on Nitro, and the bunny hills are the best I have ever been on in any ride. Comparing it to S:ROS is hard because they are two different companies. It all depends on what you prefer. I love the B&M hyper trains more than any other train. I love the floater air and then ejector air on the bunnies like Goliath. I currently give Goliath the edge, but am reriding S:ROS in the summer just to make sure. Either way, Goliath is amazing!

I rode it over 50 times on Thursday, but I wanted to be there again for opening day. We got there and all of the que houses were full, yet the line was at most, an hour long. This ride has the best capacity I have ever seen on any ride I have ridden, and that is a lot. If you think the line looks big, try it out, you will be suprised how fast it moves. It doesn't hurt whatsoever, it is smooth and the airtime is amazing. A great ride that no one will be disappointed with!

April 1 SFOG trip
dougstanton replied to kingdanny's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
That 4-5 hour thing I got straight from management. As that is true that TTD had a line that long, a coaster like this is something new to most people. The south hasn't seen anything like this. Superman had over a 3 hour line on opening day and that was nothing great. I won't be waiting in that line since I will go to Media Day and possibly the 9AM thing, but I definitely see the line getting to be about 4 hours. Hell, even Thunder River has gotten a 4 hour line in the middle of the summer on a Saturday with poor capacity. -
April 1 SFOG trip

I think that any overweight person is completely ruled out of Mindbender. Also Mine Train and Canyon Blaster. I saw someone that wasn't even big at all unable to ride Canyon Blaster. They wouldn't be able to ride Mine Train because their isn't much room in the first place, but since the lap bar is the same for the entire car, it would affect the guests behind them, probably making it unsafe for small kids. It seems like Goliath will be the only hope for any large guest. Dejavu is supposed to open after Ninja. I have heard they have been having a lot of problems with it. If you want to know who I consider my friend in high places, it is the operations manager haha....who obviously has a huge impact on anything ride related. -

Ninja wont be open until May 1st. I have friends in high places I don't think that any of them would be able to ride superman. The lighter heavy members may be able to ride Goliath though lol. -

It will be easier to ride Goliath than Superman. Keep in mind the expected wait on opening day is 4-5 hours though. Superman's seats are definitely smaller and I don't think there is a maximum weight. As long as you sit in the seat with the lap bar securely holding you in, you would be allowed on. Mindbender is very hard for large guests to ride but keep in mind, I don't know how big, "big" is. Ninja will not be open on April 1st. -

^^Yeah I know. I also see S:ROS on the top of more polls than Millennium Force. -
I have talked to different park management that state they expect a 4-5 hour line easily. Keep in mind, the south hasn't really seen many rides of this size. It is a big deal. I have traveled around the US, so it isn't BIG to me, but I am definitely extremely excited about it. I will be there on Media Day, so the only thing I will be doing on opening day is filming for my documentary.

The Hottest Photo EVER!!!
dougstanton replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^^That is why it is photoshopped....they didn't act lesbo for the camera haha. -
They are no longer in the ampitheatre but they were at one time. They were taken off so that the track could be painted obviously but people notice that something looked different about them. I would most likely assume and agree with everybody that things were done to the undercarriage to make the ride smoother if the new train thing is completely ruled out. The ride looks great. Everybody is asking if it is open even though there are still white spots on it and a sign at the entrance. People from out of town are very interested in it and want to ride it badly. It truly does look like a great ride. The GP can't tell that it is a Vekoma and automatically assume that it is rough. The people that live here are probably so dumb that they even think it is a completely new ride haha.
