  1. They stacked rather regularly. Holiday World spends a lot of time making sure the seat belts are really tight, causing it to take longer to check the trains. Unfortunately, it would have made more sense to have two PTCs, knowing they would stack, and three Timberliners, since load times should be greatly improved without seatbelts.
  2. I think that eventually the PTCs will go go to Darien Lake, they just needed them for the Voyage right now because the Timberliner's aren't ready yet. And I think it was mentioned that there will only be 2 Timberliner trains, someone correct me if i'm wrong. You are correct in saying that there will only be two Timberliners. Holiday World already sold two of the PTCs from Voyage to Darien Lake. They are running one-train operation until the Timberliners are ready.
  3. So according to your logic, since SFOG is your home park, Goliath should be much lower on a hyper coaster rating list. Nope. That isn't my logic. I'm saying that when a new ride comes out, people who have followed it for so long and live close by, tend to over react in the beginning. The same exact thing happened with Diamondback last year. People went crazy early on with numerous saying #1 steel, it then slowed down as the season went on. It happens all of the time. That's why I'm saying if you wait a little while, a better picture will be given as to what the enthusiast group thinks of a coaster.
  4. It is common to have some bias towards your home park. Many people get very excited over a new ride coming to their park and over react early on. I have ridden rides on good days and bad days...but it would have to be much better than when I rode it for the airtime to be strong. I won't deny that there were times that I was floating out of my seat. It happened on most of the hills...but it was very, very weak. There was no force to it at all. The first drop was decent but still nowhere near as good as Diamondback. If I had to rate hypers, it would probably be like this. 1) Behemoth 2) Goliath (SFoG) 3) Diamondback 4) Nitro 5) Apollo's Chariot 6) Intimidator 7) Raging Bull
  5. If you want to know the exact date, I rode on it on April 9th...Ahh, that must be it. I rode it on the bad day, along with the others. Like I said, more negative reviews will come out when people farther from the park get their chance to ride it.
  6. Yeah. SFoG is my home park. I have ridden Goliath many times. It doesn't give such inconsistent rides. The factors that affect every ride can change it slightly...but nothing as drastic as you are making it sound with Intimidator. The day I went it was hot and busy...so temperature and weight of the train couldn't have been better.
  7. I won't deny that it has airtime...it is just extremely weak. It takes "B&M floater" to another level. The trains travel over the hills very slowly and I can't believe the trims still grab you. Knowing that most B&M hypers are very similar, while I didn't expect it to be unique, I expected to have a great time on it. I was rather bored on it and I rode it first thing in the morning, in the middle of the day, and just before closing. Diamondback is significantly better so the length of the train certainly isn't the problem. While I will agree the first drop is the best part of the ride, even Diamondback's first drop dominates Intimidator's....but I probably will never get anywhere with Carolinians who are defensive of their new ride.
  8. I also found Intimidator to be extremely boring. I can't believe they even trim it. The airtime is extremely weak. I have been on Goliath (SFoG), Behemoth, Diamondback, Raging Bull, Nitro, and Apollo's Chariot. I have Intimidator at the bottom. I rode in the very front row and middle. My friends got to ride in the back and said it was nothing special. I think I'm pretty lucky that I have Goliath in my backyard and was expecting Intimidator to be an improvement over Diamondback and Behemoth. Unfortunately, I couldn't have been more wrong. I think that more negative reviews will come out once more people that don't live relatively close to the park get to ride it.
  9. Completely agree! It was my #1 steel but has definitely fallen since becoming Bizarro. Everything is great EXCEPT the restraints...but they take away a lot. They are very bulky and pin you farther up on your leg, making the airtime painful.
  10. This photo was apparently taken in the fall, not recently. We placed a car on the track to install a new trim brake. Did I mention we have a new water ride this year? It's pretty sweet. Can you fill me in on exactly where that is on the ride? The angle the picture was taken from is throwing me off. It looks to be in the same spot where there are already trims. Is it a new trim brake for the old location or a new trim on a different spot in the ride? Thanks Tony.
  11. If you look at the seat directly behind the one I circled in the I305 picture, it does not appear to have the thick bar part. If you look at the train in the concept art, it still has the thick bars for both seats in between the seats, like on Fahrenheit.
  12. It isn't possible due to the concrete support underneath the ground being unable to support a drop ride.
  13. Huh? I305 is the same price as MF and 1500' shorter.
  14. I work at Cedar Point and while there is nothing for people with ADHD, guests with autism are able to get right on. After getting a special access book from Park Operations, guests with autism go up the exit, show a ride host their book, and are boarded on the very next ride. They can only use the pass once per ride. If they would like to ride again, they can get a boarding time. If our line is an hour long at 1PM, they get a boarding time of 2pm. It is basically like a flash pass. They are able to enjoy the park while they are waiting for that time.
  15. 1) For the record, I started having fun maybe right around Steak 'n Shake in Michigan, but surely as soon as we both stepped out of our cars and greeted each other with Tim Tams. 2) I forgot about that one! Was that at American Eagle? ^Perhaps I was a little too harsh on CP. I have seen Raptor and TTD open up after being down for the first 7 hours or so before (not to mention EXTREMELY enthusiastic night crews on Raptor, MF and Gemini), but the many other times I've went (compared to this one visit to SFGAm) it just came off that the ops or maintenance crews didn't care all that much if the ride opened later on if they were already 6 or 7 hours after opening. Again, probably unfair, but it's just from personal experience. Plus the company's over-strict rain policy still irks me. I've not really gotten the same positive "vibe" from CP employees in the past couple years as I had in the years before that, but when I visited Six Flags -- the chain which everyone seemed to bash for poor management -- it just floored me that everyone was so nice, helpful and loving their job. I'm a pretty friendly person, so if someone makes eye contact with me I say hello; at CP in the past couple visits I've frequently gotten sort of shrugs or odd looks back. At SFGAm, not only did everyone say hi to me when they made eye contact, but I had six custodians at the end of the night alone, from the back of the park to the entrance, wish me a great night with no prompting. As I work in a service job, that kind of attention just really made my day and kept up a positive atmosphere throughout. Dan "It's not that I hate CP, it's that I was REALLY impressed with SFGAm!" Smith Understood. I actually work Raptor. If you ever come by, look for me (Doug). I normally do everything I can to make sure everybody is enjoying their day at the park. Also, as for employees, I can agree with you about SFGAm. They definitely have the best Six Flags employees I have encountered...BUT after now knowing what we have to go through at Cedar Point, I can't put them ahead of us. I still haven't seen more cell phones from employees than at a Six Flags park. They aren't strict with that at all, but each morning we actually get "pocket checked" to make sure we don't have ours with us. Also, I find that the efficiency of our operations can't be topped. On Raptor, we always push each other to get as many people through the turnstiles as possible. Most of us actually love our job for more than the 7.30/hr. If you ride Raptor this year, especially since about two weeks ago when we really started to figure out how to move efficiently, our full queue wait time is now under 1hr 15min.
  16. It appears like there used to be catwalks in that area while at Geauga Lake.
  17. I just wanted to state that your remark on Cedar Point not opening rides up in the evening that were down all day is way off. At my home park of SFoG, that is definitely the case. After working at Cedar Point this summer, I can definitely say that when a ride doesn't look like it will open, the crew still stays for that off chance. Cedar Point is very good at getting their rides opened, if possible.
  18. I work on Raptor at Cedar Point. I don't have any pictures from my ride either. If any of you ever come to the park, feel free to say hey and tell me you are on Theme Park Review. If I ever get the chance, I would love to chat with some of you.
  19. Yes, well, Misty and I seemed to be the only ones. Everyone around us loved it. *shrugs* I guess that's why they make chocolate and vanilla. That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. A reminder to yourself...that you're doing what you're doing? I really wonder about Cedar Fair sometimes. My theory was that it was to draw that guest's attention to the fact that you had checked their restraint--which is also stupid, but I like it better. Yes, though, I did enjoy my visit. It's not, ultimately, my kind of park--but it's still better than sitting on the couch...or working. On a side note: It's funny to me how many enthusiasts seem to think that Millennium Force is "overrated," yet it placed #2 in the US in Mitch's most recent Steel Coaster Poll. Kind of makes me wonder what "overrated" even means.... We were actually told that the "check" procedure was something that the Paramount parks did. Cedar Fair liked the idea and added it to their parks. Also, if you had a couple of weeks to play with, you should have checked to see that it was Math and Science week. I am working a split today and when I left at 1:30 the park was dead for Cedar Point standards.
  20. Holiday World is pretty good about things being ready on opening day, so I doubt that. I do know that a June date is being tossed around for the holliwatch program which still isn't even anywhere on the grounds in public view. According to their website, that project will not happen this year. The company went out of business.
  21. Oh god. I was there and don't know about this amusing story haha. I am very scared. It really was a surprise to see all of you guys at the park...and then AGAIN the following day at Holiday World. Unfortunately I was with a group of non-TPRers because I would have definitely hung out with you guys for the rest of the day.
  22. Yeah. I'm not saying it wasn't supposed to skid across the water. For 4 person boats....just make a bigger elevator. It isn't someething they can change now...I just think that has a lot to do with the splash. Intamin made these style boats for the first time.
  23. I just returned from a mini weekend trip. I went to Kings Island on Saturday and Holiday World on Sunday. I must say...my opinion on Pilgrim's Plunge was even worse after riding it. The elevator lift is tons of fun...but it ends there. After going down the drop, you skid across the water before you make a 10ft splash. Not only do some log flumes have bigger splashes, the water simply pours over the side of the boats, flooding your shoes. While the area is nowhere near being complete (The station has unfinished stairways and walls and the landscaping is still dirt.), something needs to be done to make the ride better. While a tunnel seems to be ruled out for the beginning of the ride, I actually don't mind. When you exit the station, it is cool to look at the elevator and you move rather quickly. After the drop, you move painfully slow to the station. I actually think a tunnel would be better at that location. Also, for the drop, it just feels like a longer, standard drop. If that is to make the ride family friendly, the elevator lift contradicts that. The elevator would scare many more kids away. Hopefully, in the off season, they can figure out a way to make those boats create the splash they were expecting. This ride seems like it would have been much more successful as the typical 4-across boat.
  24. VERY disappointing! I will be there on Sunday. I definitely wasn't going for this ride, but it sucks that it doesn't look to be good. As I said earlier, a ride like this relies on a splash. The only excitement it has now is the elevator lift. No tunnel. No theming (JtA). No splash. No good.
  25. If you bungee jump, aren't you still connected to the top? haha. Parachuting is more like it.
