  1. The whooshing noise you hear is the joke flying over your head. I can't tell if you seriously thought that joke went over his head. There's a solid zero percent chance that happened, as that joke is made at least once a week here. Valravn continues the tradition of amazing looking coasters at Cedar Point.
  2. Suddenly, with the potential removal of STR and the challenge park, there's a lot of room to work with!
  3. There are some very impressive lists. Mine ________ Valleyfair Cedar Point Kings Island Carowinds Kings Dominion Worlds of Fun Six Flags Magic Mountain Elitch Gardens Wild Adventures Knoebels Park at MoA Random rides/coasters in Vegas.
  4. I like this thread, as there's stuff happening at all times. Always people either arguing about B&M or Magic Mountain, complaining about complainers, posting updated Valravn pictures, talking about a boat (It's gone), or getting excited about their first trip. Every once and a while you'll get Tony to post here... It's diverse. It's usually fun to read.
  5. How tall is the MCBR on Griffon and Sheikra? I know a few pages ago, people were discussing the tallest break runs on a coaster, but nobody mentioned the other dives.
  6. That's the worst news I have ever heard.
  7. I've only been to the park 20 times, I should know better than make a rookie mistake like that.
  8. B&M Invert is not going to happen.. Just kidding. Water park expansion seems just as likely though, I'm not about to write it off. If they did get a coaster, I'd prefer the first RMC in the chain. Give us some more airtime
  9. Raptor drop - 137 ft Valravn second drop - 131 ft.
  10. It doesn't need to invert, it just needs that RMC airtime goodness.
  11. ^ Aptly named the Titanic, because it will spend most of the year in ice.
  12. That picture of the two big B&M's bookending the park is fantastic. I love this park, not even some stupid nets will change that.
  13. Did they add any track pieces today?
  14. Wouldn't surprise me. Yesterday, somebody mentioned that they couldn't get the next track piece fitted correctly.
  15. That is my favorite angle. Wow. Between the much sharper exit to the immelman this dive coaster has, and the less gradual pullout from the drop, the forces on Valravn should be much more intense than Shiekra or Griffon.
  16. I couldn't help but think the same thing. Today was 17 degrees, and it felt like T-Shirt weather.
  17. I'm just going to say you're wrong. In 2013, you wouldn't have had to wait outside the station for Mantis, except on the busiest days... let alone a 2 hour wait. When Valravn has an hour wait, that's a ton of people not in line for Maverick, Dragster, Millennium, GateKeeper, or whatever other roller coaster you want to ride. Unless you think the ride has drastically added to the number of people in the park. More options = more dispersed crowd.
  18. It's definitely true. You think lines are bad today with Fast Lane... My first visit in 04' I had to wait 2+ hours for MANTIS...
  19. Probably the Six Flags in Chicago. A park that could be one of my regulars, but I've routinely not gone to for one reason or another.
  20. If you were spending tens of millions of dollars on a new ride, wouldn't you want a ride that's guaranteed to be a hit, guaranteed to be reliable, just about guaranteed to be open on time and offers a cool new experience that non enthusiasts will find completely awesome and will be shared constantly on social media (the holding brake) leading to great word-of-mouth advertising? Of course it's a conservative, smart investment. What's wrong with that? Right. The funniest complaint is that it's over 200 feet tall. Seriously? That's hilarious! I can't think of a different manufacturer I would want Cedar Point to go with. Cedar Point needs high capacity coasters to move people through the line, especially during peak season. Cedar Point needed reliable coasters after Wicked Twister, Dragster, and Maverick. I'd love an RMC coaster, but it's better to get it after many of your competitors, so you can blow them away with your model! Edit - with all the talk about repeating the same comments, I've probably said this 5+ times since the announcement of Valravn.
  21. Mean Streak being open? I tend to avoid that ride, is this a new development? I think you guys are reading too far into things. Tony loves to throw out red herrings b/c the enthusiasts community is very gullible, and will belive anything. He definitely is. I was implying that in my post. Don't lump me in that category.
  22. Mean Streak being open? I tend to avoid that ride, is this a new development?
  23. Never been on a dive coaster. The first drops, I hear, are stupidly awesome. Based on Sheikra/Griffon/any other dive machine you have ridden, where would you rank the 'drop' in comparison to those at Cedar Point (Maverick, Dragster, Millennium, Magnum, etc)
  24. I agree with most of this, except I would go to Absinthe instead of Zumanity if you could only pick one show, that are somewhat similar. Sapphire is what I was talking about at the end of my last post, that place can get expensive... Cheetah's is the "local hotspot" for the reasons you've mentioned, according to some of my Vegas friends.
  25. Honestly, I'm all for staying at the cheapest hotel, as long as it isn't Circus Circus. Excalibur would be my choice. Any show recommendations? If you're not easily offended, Abisnthe is a show you need to go to. Absolutely hilarious. It's a racist, crude, adult circus with incredible acts. Like all other shows in Vegas, it's pricey. I also enjoyed Penn & Teller. The acts are both funny and impressive showings of magic. When I went, they had the winner of their show (Fooled Us) there to perform a trick. The best part of the show actually happens after it's over, you get the opportunity to meet Penn & Teller. They will stop and take pictures for/with every single person. Carrot Top was much better than I expected it to be. His show is "stupid as ____ " according to himself, he throws out jokes at 100 miles per hour, and they are shockingly funny. He also gave me a shot during the show, "you're over 21, right?". Zumanity - It's an adult Cirque De Soleil show. Has some very good parts (one including a tub of water.. can't go into too much detail without being banned) - I wouldn't really recommend it because of the price. If you want to do an adult show, there are cheaper options. If you want to do a Cirque De Soleil show, I'd recommend the Beatles or Michael Jackson one. Concerts - Vegas always has a ton of concerts on any given night. I was able to see Counting Crows at the Cosmopolitan when I went. It was amazing. The venue, atmosphere, pools, and music was all awesome. The Smith Center - This is a venue near Fremont Street that plays Plays. The Book of Mormon was showing when I went to Vegas. Couldn't recommend it enough. _______________ Don't really gamble, but I love Poker. Would recommend playing at the Rio, so you can play where the pros play. ______________ Food - I don't tend to eat a lot of expensive food, and the buffets can be expensive... but one restaurant I did go to was Chef Ramsey BurGR. Expensive burgers, but worth the price. Another place I enjoyed was Trevi Restaurant in the Forum Shops at Caesers. _____ Misc - Obviously the Stratosphere is a place you should visit if you like rides on top of buildings. The MOB MUSEUM IS AWESOME, JUST GO. High Roller has an open bar, it's worth taking a 30 minute spin on. Coyote Ugly / Piano Bar are both in New York, New York. Both are very entertaining. The Piano Bar has two people "dueling" against each other for tips. Dune Buggy Tour - a little more expensive, but you can do an hour ride in the dunes. It's a ton of fun. The smaller groups you'd have in the winter, likely means you have a lot of time at a high speed. Tour of Hoover Dam - a lot of history. Really awesome to go inside one of the biggest and most important places man has built. Plus you can add Arizona to the list of states you've visited with a short walk or drive. Grand Canyon is also a possibility, but a little further out and more of a full day thing. Fremont Street - More entertainment per square foot than anywhere else. There's likely 4 or 5 live bands playing at any given time. Clubs / Other clubs - these places can be expensive. Most clubs have a dresscode, so make sure you pack nice shoes. Written up quickly based almost entirely on my two weeks in Vegas. PRO TIP - Vegas is more expensive than you think it is. Even without gambling, you will go through more money than you want to. Save a little extra so you don't have to worry about pinching pennies half way through.
