  1. That's small time, it's clearly an Ocean. They wouldn't have had to take out Thunder Road for some lake.
  2. Majestic Alluring Valorous Exilirating Resounding Igniting Captivating Kinetic Brilliant! Maverick has no head banging anymore either, so that statement seems pretty outdated, "despite" his opinion of it. Looks like I went to Carowinds on the wrong couple of days. Would have loved to get more rides on Fury 325 and Thunder Road before it closed.
  3. When I went to Dorney, I got front row parking and had no wait on a single ride. I went to Carowinds a couple days later, and the parking lot was almost full. Granted, it was a Saturday, but we actually had to stop back for a couple hours on Sunday to hit up the rest of the rides we missed. It was busiest park during the trip (8 total, including CP and KI). I was shocked, because I always hear about how short the lines are.
  4. ... So much wrong with this post. Cedar Point doesn't put in a new coaster every two years, and won't get a coaster until 2020 after the Dive. The rest is fanboy fueled sadness. There's zero chance Valleyfair will have to wait that long after being deemed a growth park
  5. It definitely wasn't quick. It was down when I went to the park, sadly, and that was a day after the blurb on social media.
  6. I guess you don't read too many of my posts. I pretty much just gush over Phoenix on a daily basis to the point where I'm sure everyone here is probably sick of hearing about it. lol I don't think I enter this thread enough. That coaster is classic, and was easily the shock of my trip (which included 7 Cedar Fair parks). Everyone I was with kept praising Beast, but I thought Phoenix was a much better coaster.
  7. Interesting. I thought both were super comfortable, but I never really had a problem with the old restraints on Maverick either. I agree that the two are very comparable, I went back and forth on my rankings quite a bit before deciding that I305 is simply too good. Having no line might have swayed me more than anything, although I loved the beach ball that Cedar Point allowed people to use while in the queue for Maverick.
  8. Even a Talon clone would be wonderful. It's a layout unique in the Midwest and I see a lot of people on this site ranking Talon pretty high among inverts. I really enjoyed Talon, but after going to almost all of the Cedar Fair parks over the last 2 weeks, it just isn't very unique (at least to Cedar Fair). I'd much prefer something that isn't B&M inverted, despite them all hovering in and around my top 15 coasters. Yeah, well, that's just like.. your opinion, man.
  9. I'm just here to say that Kings Island has the best employees of any park I've ever been to. The early morning Diamondback crew and Kate(?) from Beast (who gave me her top 5 coaster list) in particular. So, uhh, if you're an employee at this park, give yourselves a pat on the back.
  10. I definitely got tunnel vision, but that didn't stop me from riding it three times in a row. I would have done more, but I had to get on every coaster.
  11. I can't tell you for sure, but I remember seeing at least one of the slingshots had a varied price depending on the time of day and business of the park. I believe it was Kings Island where it ranged from 15(maybe even 5...) during early entry, to 25 in the late afternoon.
  12. Why did nobody tell me how amazing Phoenix is?! That ride made Knoebels for me, by far the best wooden coaster I've ever been on, and I have ranked in my top 5 overall behind only I305, Maverick, and Fury.
  13. Kings Dominion is a great park! Just made my first trip there last week. I305 was the best coaster I've ever been on. Maverick and Fury325 are close, but that ride is relentless from start to finish. Really made the park for me.
  14. This is great, I'm hitting all these parks just prior to coaster removals.
  15. Valleyfair has been targeted as a growth park. B&M and Cedar Fair have worked together extensively over the last few years. Nothing has been said specifically, but it's safe to say that Valleyfair will see a pretty large investment, and that usually comes in the form of a roller coaster.
  16. 223 foot DIve Machine. To quote the Sandusky Register article that leaked the proposed Dive Coaster. "The height of the lift in the proposal is about 223 feet above ground level. The length of the track of about 3,625 feet, according to the memo. The proposed Dive Coaster has a maximum speed of about 80 mph with a ride lasting about 195 seconds"
  17. I agree.... after installing MF, TTD, and Maverick, a dive coaster seems so blah. They used to be so cutting edge with their coaster additions now it seems they have no interest in pushing the limits. That being said, I'm sure the GP will eat Valravn 252 up, and I guess that's what CP is aiming to do. Not please us greedy enthusiasts lol 252 now? Wasn't it 223 when it was first announced, and then everyone changed it to 232 for some reason, and now 252. This Dive Coaster keeps getting taller. I would think that the tallest, longest, fastest dive coaster with the most inversions is pushing the limits to an extent, as was GateKeeper. Maybe not as cutting edge as Top Thrill Dragster or Millennium Force, but these are still record breakers in their field.
  18. When, exactly? By all accounts, it seems like Cedar Point, Canada's Wonderland, and Valleyfair are all on the short list for a coaster.
  19. Things happen, and things come up. I'm sure there's a valid reason behind why they took off. Company Convince is a generic response. I read that Maverick hit it's ride time limit without a reset. It had to go offline to reset the system, or they couldn't run it anymore. I know several people that have operated Maverick in the past, and no one has ever mentioned a "ride time limit," nor have I ever heard of it on any other coaster. If there is indeed a 28 hour lockout issue, I can't imagine it's that common a thing to run into. So I can understand your friends never mentioning it.

  21. Nice having discussion that isn't stemmed from absolutely nothing, for a change.
  22. According to the Sandusky Register, the Dive Coaster runs about 15 million. Now, after the retheming of the area, it'll be closer to 20. Still 10 less than GateKeeper. What Cedar Point is doing, isn't going to kill the budget at the rest of the parks, especially one that has been destined as a "growth park" similar to Carowinds.
