I went to SWSD almost 20 years ago and the last time I went to SWO was 15 years ago. Even though it's been so long I was able to spot a lot of differences between them based on reading TRs on TPR! Manta looks like a really fun little coaster. I'll take a fun, launching coaster without crazy transitions any day over an intense ride that I can only tolerate once or twice per visit. Excited to read part 2!

Somehow I missed this TR and just now saw it. I've never been on the flyers and don't quite understand this snapping business. It's intriguing and maybe one day I'll get to experience it! Would you say my ride comparisons below are accurate? I'm trying to figure out how many similar coasters are at Kings Dominion, or even the surrounding parks. Intimidator - way scaled down I305 Afterburn - Non-Volcano suspended, Alpengeist at BGW Thunder Road - Rebel Yell at KD Vortex - Shockwave at KD Goldrusher - nothing at KD, Trailblazer at HP? Carolina Cobra - Sidewinder at HP Nighthawk - Batman at SFA Hurler - Hurler at KD Carolina Cyclone - Anaconda at HP -

Cool road trip TR! My first and only trip to Kings Island was in 2000 back when Son of Beast and Millennium Force opened. We drove from DC to Cedar Point for 2 days and then over to KI for 1 day. It reminded me very much of Kings Dominion and after waiting almost 4 hours to get on SoB the rest of the park didn't impress me one bit. Dollywood looks like a lot of fun and I'd like to get down to try out Carowinds sometime. I can always make friends with people in line too. It's a good trait to have! -

Nice way to spend a Sunday! Raising $500 is a decent chunk of change for C4K and something to be proud of. Too bad about the GP not having a clue what was going on with the trains and getting angry. It happened to us last year at SFGAdv when we went on a whim around Halloween, the place was jammed and we only had a couple hours so got dropped mega bucks on Platinum Flash Passes. We had the time of our lives and got in more rides than I ever thought we would... except nobody had any idea why we were able to stay in our seats. The station attendants would announce overhead that certain rows may have to wait an extra train, but boy did we get nasty looks! It was quite uncomfortable and we did our best to smile or sometimes pretend we didn't exist while in the station haha. -

What was so clutch about the hotel room is that we never took anything into the park except money and sunglasses, since if we needed anything it was just a 5 minute walk from the gate. I did notice a few people on rides with fannypacks, CP didn't seem to be so crazy about loose articles imo. I got harassed about wearing my sunglasses only once on Maverick, I argued with the op that I had already ridden with them (I had) and then she knew it was a lost cause and let me go anyway (my sunglasses don't have a strap but they are tight to my face and have survived many rides on El Toro). Cool. How big would you say CP is compared to SFGAdv in terms of walking distance from front to back? Let's use the walk from Nitro over to El Toro as our meter. I know CP is relatively narrow but it's hard to tell. I always wear straps on my sunglasses but good to know they are less cranky there about that sort of thing and packs aren't a problem. We decided to purchase FP+ for both days seeing as we'll be in the park all day Thurs July 3 and Fri July 5. Not sure if we need to get them way beforehand or would be ok waiting until we get there and check in on Wed 7/2. What if we buy them now and there are downpours and storms? Wasted a few hundred bucks. Hard to swallow that but that's life. I'm thinking we can think about it for another couple weeks or even until we check-in, unless other members here suggest otherwise. -

Excellent TR! I really, really enjoyed reading it! The pictures are great and your experiences detailed during your trip were fun to read. The last time I was at Kennywood was 16 years ago and the first and only time I was at Cedar Point was when Millennium Force opened... Far, far too long ago!!! I live just outside DC so go to SFGAdv, Hersheypark, Kings Dominion and BGW. I mentioned to my coaster-loving boyfriend that we should get to CP sometime in the next year or two. Next thing I know he texts me saying he took some days off in early July, let's book it and go - woohoo! Breakers was booked solid so we'll be at Sandcastle which is at the far end of the park but that's better than nothing. I get very fatigued easily and I liked your idea of heading back to the hotel mid-day to rest for an hour or so. One question - what is their loose article policy? I carry a fanny pack like Robb and it is always secured to me. Is that OK or are their certain rides that I have to pay for a youknowwhat to store it in? -
"Here is a shark... I mean Skip" LOL! Snorkeling out in the open ocean is a gamble and a properly fitted mask and snorkel can make or break it! Most kids tuck their chin almost down to their chests when looking down so you have to adjust the snorkel direction to compensate for that as well. Scuba diving is so much easier!! Glad you got to do it.

What makes one cruise director better than another? I've only been on 2 cruises, neither of them DCL, and don't remember much about either one. When you wrote that Skip thought Andy was so cool I was thoroughly confused and thought you meant Andy from Toy Story because there were TS characters around those pics LOL. I can identify with the panic you and Claire felt when Dumbo disappeared! We've all been there when someone loses a beloved stuffed animal and you have to tear apart a room to find it I may have missed it - what restaurant did Carioca's replace? Is all the food included in the price of the cruise, excluding alcohol, popcorn, and upcharge restaurants? The ceiling lights in the club are really cool and remind me of upside down jellyfish!

A park in America would never be open much less operating rides in those conditions! Wonderful pics, thanks for sharing. I imagine you'd want to be wearing some sort of ski gear to ride coasters that day -

Cool little TR! About 10 years ago my family did the same thing - we had one day to visit 3 Disney parks on a weekend in November. Just like you we somehow made it happen and had a really awesome time. Love the pics of you and your sister in front of R&RC! -

The talking tree/dragon/waterscreen walk-through looks really neat. Is there a storyline going along with it or you just see the different rooms and move on? -

I thought that bubble tram looked familiar but couldn't place it until Bert425 pointed out that it was on The Amazing Race! That's where I saw it. Thanks Bert! The spider walk photo looking up is trippy. I don't quite understand where you walked inside of it because it looked like only latticework. The Canton Tower is so impressive and I really love all the photos of everything with long descriptions, even when you are at the parks and navigating the metro. If I ever head over that way I'll be sure to pull up your TR first for directions Ride op doing laundry is a new one! Too funny. -

Finally all caught up with your updates. Ocean Kingdom is very impressive, well minus the miserable bear exhibits. I hope to be able to visit it one day. Were the beluga and dolphin shows in an indoor arena? It looked like they were from the pics. When you showed the largest aquarium panel I did the conversion math and saw it was 2 feet thick and thought, there is no way that's correct... then scrolled down and the next pic was of the side of the glass and it was indeed that thick! It must be very difficult to maintain it as acrylic scratches so easily. I had no idea there was even a Venetian hotel in Asia so besides enjoying seeing the coasters and parks I'm learning new things! -

I know several younger kids, mostly boys but also one girl, who saw this when it was in VA a few weeks ago and they are still going on about how awesome it was. I'm not into superheroes but saw Frozen On Ice a few weeks ago and am still going on about how awesome it was. To each their own! If you have kids definitely take them to one or both of these shows. -

Really enjoying your TR of your travels and the Japanese parks! I've never been to Asia and even though there are lots of Japanese TRs every one is so different with new pics and reviews. I love reading them all. Is it normal for the hotels over there to have two twin beds instead of two doubles? How often do you get to see your wife since you mentioned she lives over that way? Looking forward to the upcoming installments.
