Cedar point winter tour 2016
TBpony414 replied to thrillrider's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Thanks for posting your really thorough and interesting WCO pics! I never thought about what parks do with their rides during the off season - take off all the cars, wrap up certain rides, that sort of thing. Neat to see. Good catch on the potential Christmas clues! Hmmm..... -
Chiming in to say that I as well pause at each of your shots. The angles and lighting you highlight are remarkable. Thanks for sharing!! Wish I could take pics half as good as you! Part of the problem is my lenses always get scratched, guess I'm just absent-minded like that. Do you do much photo editing once home?

Garet - that log flume video you posted looks really fun! My fav ride at SFA was the log flume that had a turntable so you'd go backwards for part of it. The name escapes me... Skull somethingorother. Anyway it's long gone now but that was always a hit with our crowd. Gotta love a good flume. coasterbill - thanks for bearing your soul to us and explaining about the sky ride The line for it was outrageous when we were there last year so I didn't get on it but this year I plan to. Kings Dominion had a super long sky ride back in the day. Shame they're a dying breed. -
Photo TR: Jeremy Rides all the RMC's
TBpony414 replied to chickenbowl's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Following your TR! I haven't been on any RMC coasters either and have been wondering how they all stack up against each other. Excited to read about the rest of your experiences. -

Which is the one with the covered bridge for those of you wondering Delayed reply on my end - thanks guys for the info and clarification! I enjoyed the covered bridge cars so this is good news. -
The old pics of Drachen Fire posted a few pages back are classic! I remember riding it when I was younger and yes, even then it was awful and rough. My brother and I rode it at least twice each visit just so we could say we rode it... somehow maybe we knew way back when that it'd be closed/torn down haha. I'm REALLY excited for these teaser videos and clues going out!! Extra thanks to the person who posted the recent skyline of the park - really great. Can someone give me the gist (or transcript, even better) of the new video? I'm in BFE, WV skiing and we're on backwoods DSL. I can barely get TPR to load much less play videos. Thanks in advance!

The coaster is looking great! I love the webcams and those of you who post screen shots for people like me who sporadically check in on TPR. I have no doubt that this will be a fun ride. Griffon is a ton of fun. Yes it's short. Doesn't matter - it's one more ride in the park and for that I'm happy with it! I will enjoy taking a few laps in between Maverick, Skyhawk and MF I've only been to CP once in the last 15 years and there used to be a fun antique car ride with a covered bridge in that area... Was that taken out for Valravn? Looks like it but maybe I'm getting my ride placement mixed up. -
Antarctica Expedition Photo Trip Report
TBpony414 replied to JimmyBo's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Now THAT was a really cool TR to read!!! Awesome pics, awesome captions and details, awesome trip. The only non-awesome thing seems to be the food which reminds me of something from a wedding reception I went to at a Holiday Inn. Did they give you a menu at all or they served what they served and if you didn't like it you could order ice cream? Did you get cabin fever at all being on a small ship for a week with only small parts of certain days off the boat? That iceberg gash is absolutely enormous. Thanks for posting!! -
Isle of Wight Donkey Sanctury
TBpony414 replied to Henry M's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I had no idea there was such a place! Real life donkeys are awesome and a sanctuary that houses them deserves a round of applause. They all look in good condition with appropriate stalls/turnout/sacrifice areas. WTG and if I'm ever in that area of the world I am absolutely going to see the donks! -

Super late to this party - hooray it's topped off and WOW is it a towering beast! Looking forward to riding it this spring and I have my fingers crossed for a 2020 inverted aquatrax. Tony and CP did a great job with their All I Want For Christmas video. A+ to everyone involved in that. Your hard work is appreciated! -
LOL at Skyrush's creek, there is at least one phone from my household in there. Boyfriend had it in a buttoned cargo pocket and lost it during the element right after the first drop. It whipped out and flew right past my head but I couldn't grab it in time. He now puts stuff in my zippered fanny pack!

^ Agreed, the new paint looks awesome. The best way to experience a cobra roll is to see it freshly painted and thru Valravn. -
Video and Question about 4K HDTVs!
TBpony414 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
1. Do you have a 4K HDTV? Yes/No (If no, jump to question #6) No. I have a 40" flat screen tube tv on the main floor and a 46" Samsung plasma in my bedroom. I do have an HDMI cable upstairs which takes it up to 11 on the bad ass scale. 6. If you don't have a 4K HDTV, how important is it to you to get one? Not at all. Let me put it this way - when I was shopping for a new computer the only criteria I had was that I wanted to open the laptop up and every single day think, "Damn that's a great screen!" Every night when I get in bed I turn on my plasma and am amazed how absofreakinglutely perfect my tv is. The colors are great - blacks are true blacks - and the clarity is unbeatable. There's never any reflections on it, they clearly fixed the heating problem from way back when dinos roamed because it doesn't get hot at all. I went to MicroCenter and lined up 6 of the best quality laptops there are, syncing them to youtube videos of what else??? TPR coaster POVs! It came down to a Toshiba 4K vs. a Macbook Pro. Hands down there wasn't even a chance that the 4K could beat the Retina screen in terms of smoothness, colors, clarity. I walked out with the MBP and a month later my boyfriend got the Toshiba 4k. On its own 4k is good but at home he asks to use my Mac to watch things since the clarity and colors are so much better! TL;DR - Mac or plasma > 4k 7. If you were to buy a new HDTV, what feature would be more important to you? 3-D or 4K? Or both or neither? Between the two, 4K is more interesting as we had a 3D tv and hardly ever used the glasses. HTH! -

I love how it's coming together and the colors are growing on me! Tony's latest tweet pic with the turn out of the station is great. Thanks to everyone who is posting pics of the construction and especially the different footers before they're filled in. I never really thought about the footers under the ground being absolutely massive! It's neat to see the different shapes and then they pile ground back on top to show a tiny percentage of the footer. What has always surprised me is the bolts for the footers and track. It's funny to see huge footers with a couple dozen "small" looking (comparatively) bolts holding everything together. Enjoying the constant updates, thanks Tony and everyone else! -
I do! Mondays are usually slammed with catching up from the weekend and things left undone on Friday. Having a fun email from TPR that always seems to have links and summaries (very helpful) of things I've somehow missed on the boards is awesome. I flag the email and catch up on the reports or reviews I've missed. I check the forum several days a week but there can be so much new content, and perhaps I have a tendency to click on local park threads, that it's hard to keep up everything. Without the email I would comment significantly less and be out of the loop pretty much all the time. Thanks for doing the Monday Fun! I look forward to receiving it each week.

I have a fever and the only cure is... more RMC!!! The animation is unbelievable.
