The Official East Coast Bash 2011 Thread!
vistaway replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I asked and the response was: "If they are tall enough to ride, and will be doing the meals, then they will need an ECB ticket." I suppose that's fair enough, as it's only $12 more than a junior ticket at the gate, and you get a meal. I don't think I will get one for my 3-year old, as isn't tall enough to ride any of the ERT coasters, nor does he eat $12 in food. But definitely for my 6-year old. -

Sounds doubtful. I would think the park would want something more family-friendly next. -
Theme Park Review in JAPAN! 2011
vistaway replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Aww - wish I was still there. Hey, we didn't get translators when we saw Tiki Room a few weeks ago... The yakitori looked great. We found a fantastic kaiten sushi place in Maihama just a couple of bus stops from TDR. Can't wait to see all the updates! -
We were at Happy Valley on Monday. You can tell it's the off-season - tons of closed attractions (the entire water park, and every coaster other than the SLC), but we still had a great time. Here are a few shots of the new coaster (which was being tested as we were there). The park was pretty quiet - maybe everyone else knew how much was closed The lake is still drained, but they appear to be finishing the final touches It is a beautiful coaster. Great theming on the "underwater" section The station is 100% complete and ready to open They were actively testing the ride while we were there. The train made it 2/3 up the initial hill the one time I saw it in action. Great theming on the station and launch section. One last shot of this beauty

Photo TR : Tokyo Disney - September 2010
vistaway replied to la2lvtom's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive
Thanks for the great TR! I am planning a visit back to Tokyo for next year and still deciding between spring and fall. The parks seemed busier than I would have expected for September. Would you say the Halloween festivities are worth the crowds? I have previously been in December and September, and found the crowds to be manageable, but that was 10 years ago, and without kids in tow. -

We'll see what he thinks when we get there. He loved Tower of Terror, SooperDooperLooper, Big Bad Wolf, Spiderman and lots of others when he was 4 or younger. But then he was scared of DarKastle. So you never know...but he watched the GMTV video and thought it looked "boring" - asking why the drop wasn't bigger... -

Thanks. So that's a hair under 48in, eh? Hopefully my 6-year old will be tall enough when we get there in May (he should be). Strange that the Website doesn't list TH13TEEN under the 'thrill rides' section (or any other), but clearly the page exists on the site. -

Anyone know what the minimum height requirement will be? I heard 1.1m or 1.2m, but can't seem to find the answer on either towerstimes or the park's own site. -

Exactly...I don't think anyone would expect Cedar Fair to theme their kids land to the 'hottest', 'newest', 'trendiest' brand that resonates most with today's kids. They have an existing brand that they own the theme park rights to, so it makes sense to use it. Kids and their parents (both the target audiences) don't care much about which characters the area is themed to...it's more about the balance of rides/shows/shops/restaurants to keep the family entertained. My kids don't know who Snoopy and the Peanuts gang are, expect from Cedar Point. In fact, if you were to show a picture of Snoopy to my 4-year old, he would likely tell you that he is the dog from Cedar Point (and ask when we're going back again...). But it works just fine - they love the kids area at CP, and we enjoy taking them there. We didn't get CW passes this year for a bunch of reasons, but we might next year, if they have some decent new kids attractions in the Snoopy area... -

Ahh, the HB carousel...every time I take my son on, we sit in the shark, and every time I forget the damn shark's name...and it bugs me for the entire ride... ...it's Jabberjaw. -

I would guess the ice show would be in the Wonderland Theatre, since it already has the ice surface. That leaves the old Dora stage without a show, but I suppose that's technically in Kidzville. I wonder if this project will finally get rid of the Bedrock Aquarium... -

Planet Snoopy Moves In To Canada's Wonderland Coming Spring 2010 It's a major investment in fun! Snoopy, Charlie Brown and the rest of the Peanuts gang are moving into their new home and taking over Nickelodeon Central and Hanna-Barbera Land. Three new children's rides and a new live show will complete the landscape at Planet Snoopy, to give our smallest fans and friends even more chances to swing, fly and giggle through a day at the park. === Seems like a smart move for the park, frankly. Sure, it's not a coaster, but given the target demographic Cedar Fair is after (families), it makes sense. Plus, no more Nick licensing issues to worry about. It's going to be a huge area after combining these two lands...I wonder if 'Kidzville' will be left out of this? -
Ahh...I didn't realize ex-Devo members were involved in this...makes more sense now. My 4-year old is a fan, and I have a feeling our 8-month old's first words will be either yo, or gabba! Our TiVo is full of episodes this and the Imagination Movers...not much room left for my Top Chef...

Siam Park - Waterpark in the Canary Islands

I just finished watching that episode of Mega Builders. It was fascinating. Looks like it was filmed between August 2007 and April 2008? I am pretty sure it's a Canadian show, but since it's on Discovery, it should make its way to the US and UK channels in due course. Thanks to this thread (and all the great updates, OP), I knew pretty mcuh what they were showing. But it was cool to see the insider view. taytig, go figure, eh - we Canadians build most of these amazing water parks, but we don't yet have our own showcase park... -

This year they only have the one adult coaster, the Crazy Mouse. There are two kids coasters in the Kiddie Land section. A fair amount of good flats, as usual. But they are all expensive. The ride wristband is $30 on top of admission. Coupons are around $1 each and most rides cost 5-7 coupons. I calculated that it would cost over $10 just for my son and I to ride the dragon wagon! Still, it's well worth it going. This weekend, especially, with the Air Show, the RCMP Musical Ride, and the Rodeo - all included with grounds admission. Andy -

Looks great. I can't imagine how much work this has been. Anyway, a few small things I noticed: Canada's Wonderland - Google satellite image link doesn't work - The park links from the individual ride pages (such as http://www.themeparkreview.com/parks/photo.php?pageid=207&linkid=2089) are not valid links Centreville http://www.centreisland.ca/ is missing Marineland - Google satellite image not working Also, French accented characters don't seem to be displaying properly. I think it's because you have charset=utf-8. It works if you change the encoding to Western though... Andy

Great TR so far. You got a lot of excellent shots of CW. You really liked the buffet at CW? I have only done it once this year, and I was quite underwhelmed, even with my pass discount. Perhaps it was an off day for them...

I was there Sunday and they were only running one train, at least for the first few hours of operation. Amazing coaster, though.
