Whats The Weather Like Where You Live?
805Andrew replied to RtherBOnACoaster's topic in Random, Random, Random
It was a high of 45F by me today and now it's currently 27F. Brrr! That's way too cold for California. -
Listening to the new Linkin Park remix album Recharged right now. The Burn It Down Tom Swoon remix is pretty cool, and of course the new LP song with Steve Aoki "The Light That Never Comes".

I had a Sprite Cranberry today. I bet it would be good with vodka....hmmm.

This is a tough call and it highly depends what mood I'm in, but I'm going to have to go with burgers. I don't like cheese and I can see what's in a burger while I can't see what's in a burrito until I've bitten into it. For Mexican food I prefer tacos as I can have several with different meats/toppings on each as opposed to one burrito with the same meat/toppings. If the topic were Burgers vs. Tacos I might go with tacos.

What if Jurassic Park was real?

My only concern would be if something malfunctions or breaks down. If The Pirates of the Caribbean breaks down, the pirates don't eat the tourists. -
Weird/ Out of place coasters
805Andrew replied to nhman93's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeh, I agree with this. It was the one that immediately jumped to my mind. Although it is only bit more than 30 minutes outside of Vegas it is definitely out of place. On my last trip to Vegas, a couple of friends and I were going to ride it on the way to Vegas, but it was just after 8 AM when we got there and there was nothing else that could justify us waiting there until 10AM to ride it. We were going to ride it on the way home, but did the Stratosphere rides instead and weren't "feeling it" on the way home. Scream also does feel out of place being built on a parking lot and being out of the way from the rest of SFMM (except for Colossus). I never thought about Silver Bullet at Knott's being out of place when it first opened, but during WCB I noticed how "in your face" Silver Bullet is by the front entrance and how it does not fit with the Ghost Town theming at all. -
Apocalypse isn't as rough as GhostRider at all. However, I have found Apocalypse to be much rougher than what it used to be, and during my ride a few weeks ago, I chose not to re-ride it even with a 5-minute wait. Kind of strange since Apocalypse was running fine earlier this year. I never rode Apocalypse when it first opened (it was closed on my 2010 visit to the park), but when I rode it during night ERT at WCB I was able to ride it three times in a row without getting off. Apocaypse was very re-rideable. I would have ridden it more times but I also wanted to ride Tatsu. I know! SFMM does has problems and is far from perfect, but they get an usually high amount of crap and criticism. I can't think of a thread on here that has more complaining than this one. The thing is, RSR is a highly complex ride as where X2 is simply a roller coaster. You would think it's the other way around. Yeah, X2 is simply a roller coaster just like Revolution or Gold Rusher. There is nothing special or technically unique about it. Interesting observation. I haven't heard this before but if this is true then they were running the smooth one at WCB. Correct me if I'm wrong, but does this mean that YOLOcoaster is finally getting a permanent station structure? Yes, the park filed for the permit a few weeks ago. Glad to hear that. Better late than never!

Buy a SnowBomb Tahoe Platinum Pass. It gets you a lift ticket to Sierra At Tahoe and Homewood plus two other places south of Tahoe, discounts at a bunch of places in Tahoe, and free equipment rentals. http://www.snowbomb.com/the-snowbomb-platinum-pass/ Also keep an eye out for the Shell Ski Free offers starting in January at participating Shell stations that give you BOGO coupons to certain places with 10 gallon fill ups. Every time I've gone to Tahoe I've used deals or coupons and usually pay around $50 or less for a lift ticket, with the exception of two years ago when I payed $92 for a Heavenly ticket because they were the only place that had good snow. -
At WCB some people were telling me how rough Apocolypse had gotten and when I finally rode it at night, I was pleasantly surprised how fun the ride was. I didn't feel it was very rough at all. It's a wooden coaster, it's not supposed to be as smooth as butter. I swear, some people really over-exaggerate the roughness of a coaster. I haven't ridden Ghostrider in several years, but I know a rough coaster. I rode Stampida at Port Aventura in 2012 and that ride has gotten rough as f@. Now that was a coaster that used to be really fun ( especially since they race both rides) and now isn't re-rideable. I can only imagine how bad Ghostrider has gotten.

A smooth TOGO because all SLCs are very similar but not all TOGOs are. Would you rather marathon a rough Vekoma with your favorite celebrity or marathon your favorite Intamin with a train full of Bronies?

I going to Bear Valley on the 22nd which is in the Sierras north of Yosemite and south of Tahoe. This is a new place for me which is included with the Tahoe Snowbomb Platinum Pass I bought for $50 back in August. It includes one day lift tickets to four places: two in Tahoe and two south of Tahoe. I just can't use it on certain blackout days (after Xmas til Jan 6) and all Saturdays so I'll have to do a trip to Tahoe in February or March and a day trip to China Peak (my home mountain) sometime in January.

I like Brooklyn Nine-Nine. It's kind of like The Office in a Police setting. The Crazy Ones is okay but each episode is hit or miss. I saw one episode of Seth McFarlane's Dads and the Michael J Fox show and thought both those were horrible. I was just catching up on my DVRed shows the last few days and saw the latest Family Guy from a week ago and was shocked they killed off one of the main characters.

It looks like there was another side that wasn't operating. I guess that credit is for a future TPR visit. This looks like a cool way to get up to the Great Wall, although painfully slow. And the guy wearing the Granmen hat did a good job safely navigating you down. -
What do YOU take with you to a park?
805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I usually take my Quiksilver backpack that has many compartments and pockets. There are things like gum, mini bottle of hand sanitizer, sunblock, and lip balm that are always in there and I also bring sunglasses, some snacks like nuts and beef jerky, candy that won't melt, maybe peel-able fruit like oranges, a plastic bag with cold water and drinks, a light jacket if it is going to cool in the evening, a camera, a iPhone charger, and the obvious things like phone, wallet and keys. I try to leave some room in my backpack in case I buy any souvenirs at the park. This is obviously if I'm going to be at a park from open to close. If I'm going to a smaller park for just a few hours or less like the SC Boardwalk, I'll usually just bring what fits in my pockets. Also if I'm going to a park that has a water park then I'll bring a towel and a swimsuit with a couple of plastic bags as well. If I'm going strictly to a water park, I'll bring a backpack with a swimsuit, towel, enough sunblock, mini bottles of soap and shampoo, maybe a camera, a couple of water bottles, my keys, my wallet, my phone, and I'll walk in with sandals on. -

I'm not a musical person at all but I would really like to see Book of Mormon. I'm not a parade person either and I do like the floats but can't stand the dancing and musical numbers in between the floats. And LOL, I didn't know what a Brony was nor such a thing existed until I read this TR and googled it. I really need to visit NYC besides the stupid airport for connecting flights. -

The Jingle Cruise doesn't seem like its different from the Jungle Cruise except for some name changes. But other than that the Magic Kingdom looks great for Christmas time. Many of my trips to Disneyland as a kid were at Christmas time (as my Birthday is right before Christmas) and it was always great to see it decorated for Christmas. Knott's and Universal may have Halloween, but Disney is the King of Christmas. -
The really tall 2x1 Coke machine is pretty cool. That would never be found in the US due to people potentially suing for injuring themselves trying to reach the machine or disabled people saying it's not ADA compliant or it discriminates against disabled people. Surprised I haven't seen a Japanese machine in this threat yet.

At least this coaster cleared the loop and didn't make a scrapping noise like a certain shuttle looper in China.
