  1. I really enjoyed both days at WCB. SFMM is all about the rides (coasters specifically), but Knott's really pulled the stops with Calico Mine Ride tour, backstage Log Ride tour, lunch, Q & A at Charles Schultz Theatre, and backstage tour of one of the haunted mazes. While I like most of the thrill rides at SFMM over the ones at Knott's, I now get why everyone says the Knott's Bash day is better. Knott's plans more things for TPR while SFMM is specifically a ERT event with a lunch (and a pretty horrible one). The friendliness and the sense of humor of the Knott's staff also made all the difference. Knott's didn't really have a corporate feel for being a corporate park, and while I've only been to one other Cedar Fair park, Knott's felt like it is run its own way differently from other Cedar Fair parks. The Timber Mountain Log Ride redo was amazing and I wish I would have ridden it more than twice. I'm glad I did both days of the West Coast Bash as it was nice getting the contrast of both parks, from an adrenaline filled day to a relaxing day filled with backstage tours and such.
  2. YOLO with a raccoon YES! This needs to happen!
  3. I brought an older souvenir bottle for filling up with water and ice and never had a problem finding a drink stand to fill it up, though I didn't fill it up in the morning. The employees are a mixed bag at SFMM, as some of the ones I encountered are really nice and others are standoffish and rude. Some rides had passionate and efficient ride ops, like YOLO in the morning, Goliath, and the Sky Tower, while others were unfriendly (Lex Luther in the morning) or not efficient (Green Lantern). I do agree that Knott's employees are a lot more friendly and enthusiastic and Knott's feels less like a corporate park. I agree with you two guys, I don't get all the complaints about Apocalypse being so rough -I didn't ride it until night ERT, but I really enjoyed my three night time rides on it, especially in the front row. I didn't feel it was THAT rough, and the cushioned seats were nice. I really liked the layout and surprises of Apocalypse and while I enjoyed Colossus, I think I liked Apocalypse better. I picked up five new credits on Saturday, including Full Throttle, Green Lantern, Apocalypse, and those two kiddie coasters I also had never bothered with before. The only credit I didn't get was Magic Flyer since it was under 54" only, but f@&% that piece of crap. And to change the mood of this thread, I bring you ERT... Seeing this in the Superman queue during night ERT might have been my favorite part of WCB at SFMM.
  4. Thanks for showing me that Raccoon in the Superman que, it really made my day. It was nice meeting you and hitting up three of the B&Ms in a row. Night ERT on Superman was awesome, that's where it was at. The raccoon, finally trying Superman backwards, and riding Superman 8 times in a row trying all four rows and both sides were icing on the cake to the first Bash day. Full Throttle really impressed me. I had a feeling it was going to be great, but it exceeded my expectations and is now my second favorite ride at the park after X2. During morning ERT I first rode the front row, then the middle section, then the back row, then the back row again because no one was waiting for that row. I thought the front was great until I rode the back, which blew the front away. I only got one nighttime ERT ride as I spent too much time at Superman (it was worth it though), I had to hit up Apocalypse once it was back up running (3 times) and Tatsu (twice), and the loading times on Tatsu were ridiculously slow. Full Throttle was even better at night. I think I might even like it better that Xcelerator. It was great meeting you too by the way.
  5. Food Etc (I think that's what its called) by Goliath has Butt Light and Michelob Amber Bock on tap and Shock Top, Corona, and Stella Artois (which is actually beer) in bottles. Only $8 for the draft, and $8.25 for the bottles if I recall correctly. They don't let you take it outside the Food Etc. though so you have to drink it there.
  6. Samuel Adams Honey Queen while I'm packing my bag for WCB. No one else has posted here since my last post? You guys are making me look like a freakin' alcoholic.
  7. I wonder why they are not doing Fright Fest on Halloween day/night. Even though Halloween is during the week (a Thursday) they are enough people in the LA area that would want to go on Halloween day/night.
  8. I am more familiar with the left side (Tomorrowland side) as the right side (Fantasyland side) is closed more often when I visit, but the right side has a bonus tunnel after the splashdown which I think is cooler. I need to try to ride both sides next time I'm in Disneyland to decide which side I like better. I've always wondered why Disney didn't build a Matterhorn in any of their other parks. It's one of Disneyland's signature rides, it's a nice landmark, and it's a high capacity ride. The new trains hold 3 people per car, while the old ones held up to 4 people per car, but often held 2 people per car if they were both adults; so whether the capacity increases or decreases is a mixed bag, but it will probably increase due to the single rider line filling all the empty seats.
  9. I was in Barcelona last Summer and got onto Shambhala at Port Aventura in its opening season. That's one coaster I beat Robb and Ellisa to riding. Also in the past I rode Goliath at SFMM in the Spring of 2000, Superman the Escape in the Winter of 1997, Rocket Rods at Disneyland in 1996, Indiana Jones Adventure in the Summer of 1995, and I think Splash Mountain in 1989.
  10. ^I didn't know the Golden Ticket Awards were this weekend. Interesting its the same weekend as WCB.
  11. Not quite, but a friend and I were the only ones on Invertigo at PGA at the end of the day in the Spring of 2004.
  12. ^ Wow, that sounds awesome on a hot day. I wish places here did that.
  13. I met up with TPR member JJLehto in Downtown SLO last night, and we both had a pint of Firestone DBA (Paso Robles, CA) at McCarthy's Irish Pub and then went over to Frog & Peach English Pub where I had a pint of Figueroa Mountain Danish Red Lager (Buellton, CA) and a pint of New Belgium Pumpkick (Fort Collins, CO) and he had a pint of Newcastle Brown Ale. Sorry no pictures.
  14. Frozen Kirin??? Tell me more!
  15. The Mini-New Hotness Tour sounds cool. I've always wanted to go to Holiday World but its really out of the way from everywhere, and King's Island and SF Great America are on my list also, and Indiana Beach sounds like a fun, quirky park from the TRs I've of seen of it. I'm not very familiar with the Kentucky parks, but hopefully they will be a nice surprise. If the West Coast trip is done in the Spring, hopefully they will be another mini US tour. As someone mentioned, I would love see a trip that included both Dollywood and Silver Dollar City. As for the West Coast trip, I think its a very good idea as our parks have added a lot of things in the past few years, but I will not go on a West Coast trip as I've been to these parks numerous times and have easy access to them, and would rather spend my money going to parks I have never been to before. I would love to go to a Bash day or two though if its offered on the West Coast trip (Gold Striker Bash or Backwards Bash at SFMM would sound cool).
  16. Kings of Leon - Super Soaker It's so hot right now I could use a Super Soaker.
  17. For those still looking for a hotel, the Knott's one is still $62 a night before taxes/fees on Kayak for a single queen bed. That's only $5 more a night then what I paid. EDIT: Never mind, disregard what I just said. I would, but it Hurricane Harbor is a separate admission park from SFMM. I would like to go a SoCal water park on Monday after Knott's, but it looks like they will all be closed due to school being back in session. I might hit the beach instead in Santa Monica or Malibu before heading home.
  18. That sucks that you and some others got the flu (or cold) on the trip, but it looks you made the best of it and were still able to have fun. Is this the first time multiple people have gotten sick on a TPR trip? I hope it isn't a very common occurrence, as this is the first I've heard of it.
  19. I know it's not Spring time, but I had a Hangar 24 California Spring Beer today, which is like a hoppy wheat beer. My local Trader Joes still had some a couple of weeks ago.
  20. Korn - Another Brick In The Wall (Parts 1, 2, and 3)
  21. Huh? I HATE when idiots write LOL after their comments. As if the comment is so hilarious they laughed at it. Dumbass. Origins? Hmmm.... What if you learned how to spell and speak proper English? Literally, look at the title of the video and do a 2-3 second search on Google. Time to thin out the gene pool with that comment. And the battle of the idiots continues: All those GP comments just made me laugh
  22. All you guys and your three day weeks I am in the middle of working 11 days in a row through this Friday, but I'll have four days off in a row come this Saturday and it will all be worth it. I just booked my room at Knott's hotel this morning on Kayak for Saturday and Sunday nights for $129 total. Last night my bids of $50, $55, $60, and $65 per night on Priceline were all rejected, I compared with Hotwire, and got to Kayak somehow and they had the best deal on a 3 star hotel near Knott's (Travelocity was only $1 more). Anyone who is going WCB who hasn't booked their room yet, I recommend using Kayak for the best deal on the Knott's Hotel. Maybe we could have the TPR WCB after party there.
