Best Theme Park Food805Andrew replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! That's a great question. With all the great food found at Farmers Markets, festivals, fairs, and food trucks here, I have no idea.

The Official TPR Video Thread!805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Leave it to a coaster enthusiast to want to use a vibrator to bring him a new roller coaster instead of pleasuring women! --Robb "Sorry that was just too easy!" Alvey lol I don't need a vi....err, I won't go there.

Best Theme Park Food805Andrew replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Yes, it does. The Artichoke Capital of the World to be exact in Castroville, which I drive through to get to Santa Cruz. And the Garlic Capital of the World is not too far away either.

Photo TR: Parque Atracciones de Madrid & Parque Warner805Andrew replied to rcjp's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive I had no idea the oldest operating steel coaster was in Spain. Being from 1928 (according to RCDB) I'm glad it survived the Spanish Civil War as San Sebastián is in the Basque region which was against the Franco nationalists. It definitely looks like a concrete credit. Crazy it has no restraint of any kind, not even a simple seat belt, but that's Spain for you. I've been to several parts of Spain but not San Sebastián, so that's an area I need to check out in the future and hit up that Montaña Suiza while I'm at it. It was also great seeing pics of Madrid's two parks (which I haven't been to - although I did visit the city in 2001).

I'm going to Beer Camp for the next 12 beers. My first taste of Beer Camp is Yvan the Great Belgian Style Blonde featuring Russian River Brewing Co in Santa Rosa, CA. Sierra Nevada is collaborating with 12 different breweries for this Beer Camp mix pack I picked up at BevMo.

Best Theme Park Food805Andrew replied to ChrisZer0's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! I don't eat too much theme park food, but I really like the Bengal Barbecue skewers at Disneyland and having a Dole Whip Float nearby. The deep fried artichoke hearts from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk are pretty good too.

The Official TPR Video Thread!805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Catching up on the last several videos: Ultra Twister looks amazing! If Togo would have put that at Knott's instead of Windjammer maybe they would still be in business. That Thad coaster in Denmark looks like lots of fun. Thad makes a great shoe-in for Robb in coaster videos. Canyon Blaster looks like a great Arrow looper with great theming. I wonder if being indoors had anything to do with this Arrow staying smooth. That haunted dark ride at Deno's Wonder Wheel Park was a surprise for me. I found it by chance and it was better than I expected for how cheaply it was made. After I rode it, I' m glad I convinced three East Coast Trip goers exiting the Wonder Wheel to ride it whom may have missed it otherwise. That first gunshot in the ride got me the first time I rode it. I wish I had that Hitachi Magic Wand to place an Ultra Twister at a park here in CA.

The Official TPR Video Thread!805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! I rode a drop tower with slightly tilted seats at Port Aventura (Huracan Condor) which was amazing (and kind of terrifying) so I can only imagine how awesome this is. Zumanjaro looks like it has nothing on this!

Photo TR: TPR 2014 SCANDI Tour - Bill's Awesome Revisit!805Andrew replied to Nrthwnd's topic in Photo Trip Report Archive I second liking how you take pictures of the day's itinerary to show how jam packed each day is. Being out of hotels by 5-5:30 AM some days must not be easy. I had it pretty easy being out of hotels by 8 AM on the Mini East Coast Trip. Going back to one of the smoking pics, did they serve Brooklyn Brewery beer there in Sweden, or did they just have that glass? I wouldn't expect to find that beer in Europe. Also congrats on finding Bob's lost Big Boy brother in Finland.

WCB at SFMM on Sunday was great. Unfortunately I couldn't make Saturday at Knott's due to work, but one day of WCB is better than nothing! Anyways, both AM and PM ERT was great. In the AM I got three rides each on Batman, Green Lantern, Lex Luther, Goliath, and Full Throttle (15 morning ERT rides) including one unbalanced Green Lantern ride where we were upside down for half the ride and facing down at the end for 10 minutes before maintenance turned us right side up, lol. For PM ERT I got two rides on Tatsu, three double rides on Superman (six rides) and six rides on X2 for 14 evening ERT rides. The lunch was much improved from last year (which was horrible) as I enjoyed the turkey leg. The ride ops were faster and much more enthusiastic than last year overall (Tatsu being the only slow loading ride I encountered), and the crowds were lighter than last year (being the first Sunday of NFL season probably helped). The temperature was about 6-7 degrees cooler than last year but still hella hot at 95F during the day w/ some humidity. Last year I took a bunch a pictures, so this year I only took three, lol. So here they are. Little did I know that when I snapped this picture of Colossus that the track at the top would be completely gone the next day, lol. Total rides: 47 (beating last year's 45) X2 (8) Superman (6) Apocalypse (6) Full Throttle (4) Tatsu (3) Goliath (3) Batman (3) Lex Luther (3) Green Lantern (3) Viper (2) Riddler's Revenge Revolution Ninja Scream Gold Rusher Tidal Wave 49 rides if I include two inclines on Orient Express

The only ride at Magic Mountain that makes you pay for the fluffy bunny is X2. X2 has an unusual loading station where you enter and exit from the same side of the platform on both sides of the platform so there isn't much room for putting your stuff on the side. The $1 bins are at the entrance of the station and are one time use for up to 2 hours. On Sunday during the day since X2 only had a 10-15 min wait, I left my backpack in my locker while I rode twice. At SF Great Adventure, most of the major rides require you rent a bin. They have rentable bins in front of the major rides. Each use will let you have the bin for two hours, so the best way is to pick a central location, and ride as many rides in that area in 2 hours. I used a Nitro locker to go on Nitro, Batman, and Dark Knight and a Bizarro locker to go on Bizarro, the log flume, and El Toro.

Amusement Today Golden Ticket Awards 2014805Andrew replied to A.J.'s topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Two Hersheypark coasters were snubbed, Storm Runner and Fahrenheit. Especially Storm Runner - the Amusement Today voters don't like launches? Also notice on page 38 of the Golden Ticket Awards issue that Lightning Racer at Hersheypark in the top 50 wood coaster list is referred to as Lightning Run. Oops! http://www.goldenticketawards.com/backissues/at_gt_2014_issue.pdf

Post your milestone coasters805Andrew replied to bgwfreak's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Did she get on X2, Goliath, or Superman yesterday?

This is crazy that we were all at SFMM yesterday (well, a lot of us) and today Colossus caught on fire and the crest of lift hill burned and collapsed. I hope this doesn't strain the plans for Twisted Colossus too much. Also I'm glad that this didn't happen yesterday (although it would been interesting to watch) as construction crews don't work Sundays. I'm also glad the whole structure didn't burn down and I don't have to think about what RMC does then. Still crazy though!

This is what I'm hoping for. Now that they are transforming Colossus I'm hoping 2016 will be a revamp of Revolution in some way for its 40th anniversary. I was talking about this to a couple of people in the park yesterday. New trains with lap bar restraints are a must, get rid of all the unnecessary trims, re paint and smooth out the track, and maybe add some effects to the ride. I rode Revolution once yesterday, and the OTSR is horrible and legroom is even worse if you're in a non front row of a car with an un padded metal bar that can really hurt your knees. I know its a pipe dream for now, but the fact they are redoing Colossus gives me hope for Revolution in the future. The layout through the trees are awesome and the ride really has potential.

Most Coaster Credits in a Calendar Year805Andrew replied to redfoot12's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Definitely this year for me. I gained 42 credits on the Mini East Coast Trip alone. 43 credits this year so far and I may still hit Goldstriker later this month for the first time.

The Official TPR Video Thread!805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! Vertigo: That is one crazy, f@¢%ed up Plane on a Stick. That would be a great fit for smaller parks like Knoebels, Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk, or even Tibidabo (which just has the uber slow snoozefest Plane on a Stick in Taxi mode. Tornado: That Intamin invert looks like a lot of fun. Why weren't more Intamin inverts built? I wish I had a magic wand to turn every SLC into an Intamin invert.

West Coast Bash 2014 - TICKETS ON SALE!805Andrew replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys! How much is it with the half off? Do you have any left?

I told ya man, I'm glad you had a great experience, like I did at SF:MM but trust the yearly goer...park sucks. I really am a bit miffed this is the sorry excuse for a new ride we are getting, but can't even be surprised. Also, I had a horrific thought: What would the waits be like for this?? Unless it just does like 2 or 3 loops..oi I think most people will walk right past it and go straight for El Toro, Kingda Ka, or Zumanjaro. Sorry you aren't getting anything noteworthy next year? 2016 I guess.
-
This addition doesn't really fit Discovery Kingdom. They just got a superior looping coaster not too long ago so an inferior addition seems pointless. They also have a flat ride that loops around. And this isn't really a coaster, its an oversized Ring of Fire. At least Magic Mountain is getting Twisted Colossus.
-
This counts as a coaster??? it looks like an oversized Ring of Fire you see at carnivals and county fairs. And Six Flags is getting four of these? I can understand Six Flags America getting one of these, but SF Great Adventure? One of Six Flags crown jewel parks? I guess Six Flags needs to balance out the awesome rides some parks are getting next year. Great Adventure didn't really need to add anything though - look at all they have!
