  1. I hadn't actually thought of it that way until now. I'm surprised they didn't announce it as being the first coaster on the planet to have two high five sections. At first I thought Twisted Colossus was a racer but when I heard it had two lift hills I was like huh? and watched the video again realizing it's twice around the same circuit (tracks changes from blue to green right before the second lift hill) which means the high five element twice (once on each side). I think it will be a four train ride with a dual loading station. This would make it easier to sync the trains' dispatches so they can duel. When one train is in rehab, it could still duel with three train operation and one side of the station. It could possibly be a five train ride with a dual loading station but that is wishful thinking and one train would always be stacked.
  2. High Five element coming to the USA??!! At Magic Mountain???! Wow, this awesome! Hopefully they can sync the trains' dispatches so the trains can actually duel. If so, that's not one, but two high five elements per ride! Oh, and 18 airtime hills??!! This may be the best ride ever...at least at Magic Mountain.
  3. Hopefully I wake up to a cool announcement. Go RMC!
  4. Just bought my ticket for the Magic Mountain day! I'll be seeing you all then. I couldn't do the Knott's day this year as I have work that day, but was off for the SFMM day. Looking forward to X2 as I haven't ridden it in four years (has it been that long?) and riding Full Throttle again and hanging out with a bunch of awesome TPR people with ERT on eight rides! Looking forward to it!
  5. Wow, the Scandinavia Tour looked amazing. Great, detailed TR and pics!
  6. I think Cedar Fair had Johnny Rocket's on lockdown (I could be wrong). It'll be the world's largest Panda Express. Also no Starbucks, they're not classy enough. It'll be a blatant Starbucks ripoff. "SpaceDollars" Six Flags would never get Starbucks. If they get branded coffee it would probably be something like 7-11 Cafe Select stands since they have 7-11 branded Slurpees. Besides Starbucks likes working with family owned parks like Knoebels. Brands that would fit Six Flags are Little Caesars, Arby's, Burger King, or Jack in the Box.
  7. Congrats Caesar! I don't think I'd be able to marathon anything for 36 hours without taking a nap, even if it was the smoothiest coaster in the World.
  8. I love reading all the speculations for Iron Colossus. We shall see in a couple of weeks.
  9. You saying that you don't like the El Toro clown car? Are you talking about the Soul Train? On another note, I was planning on going to CGA tomorrow since I have to be in the Bay Area tomorrow night anyways. But it looks like Gold Striker will be down, so I'm not so sure now. Gold Striker was my main reason for going to CGA as I haven't been on it yet. I have a MCR ticket for CGA I have to use by Labor Day, so if I don't go tomorrow it will be by the end of the month.
  10. EDIT: I won't be going to be at CGA tomorrow, Friday July 25 like I originally said. I will most likely going to CGA on Monday, August 11. If any TPR members in the area is going to be there then and wants to meet up PM me. I'm still looking forward to finally going on Goldstriker, but not nearly as much as the Mini NE Tour.
  11. Wow! I don't what is the bigger news, a launched wing coaster or Holiday World getting a steel coaster. Looks awesome!
  12. Thanks for the link. Very interesting episode and way better than the average episode of Xtreme Waterparks.
  13. Interesting article. The sheriff at the end of the video said that any employer that requires working with kids is going to attract some pedophiles whether it be a theme park or a school and that polygraph tests should be allowed to be used to screen for potential employees, not just in theme parks, but many lines of work such as schools, etc. He said everyone could do a better job, not just Disney. 36 out of over 300,000 is a very minuscule number that the CNN video admits. I don't see this being too negative on Disney for those who actually saw the video in whole, as none of the incidents happened near park property or involved park guests. It just shows that these type of places attract some perverts also, as do schools. This is like when Dateline does "To Catch a Predator", just the Theme Park Employee edition. The sheriff does make a point that the stupid ones get caught, as the case with the cast member posting a bunch of his pictures on his Facebook, and the so-called pastor looking up child porn on a work computer (really?).
  14. Go! I'll be at both these events!
  15. Sleeper Agent "Waves"
  16. Congratulations! They earned it!
  17. Go Argentina! Hopefully Argentina can beat Germany because Germany played their best game against Brazil in the Semi- final. On another note, Brazil really fell apart during the Germany game and there on. I feel bad for Brazil as the year they final host the Cup, they have the weakest national team in many years.
  18. Last night I had a Tioga-Sequoia Brewing Company Half Dome California Wheat from Fresno, CA. Tonight I'm having a Hangar 24 Betty IPA from Redlands, CA.
  19. I'm looking forward to Collossus becoming Iron Collossus via the RMC treatment. With Collossus closing in August it's all but confirmed. I could bet $$ on it. We just have to wait for the official announcement in late August or early September. I have a feeling that this has been in the works for several years. Now the question is will it be a dual track racer or will the ride go around the track twice? I doubt they will preserve one side as is with simply topper track. I can't wait to see what they do with this colossal structure! There's so much potential.
  20. This is the beer I had last night. Brew Free or Die IPA by 21st Amendment Brewery in San Francisco. It was nice IPA, not too bitter for an IPA, but you could still tell it was an IPA.
  21. Okay this isn't the last beer I drank, but it is the last beer I drank at a theme park. Beer selfie! Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing Giant DIPA - which I had on the Boardwalk when I was there on May 30th. It is a Double IPA with 8.9% alc which came in a pint can. It was pretty hoppy and paired nicely with the Deep Fried Artichoke Hearts I had.
  22. Okay, so all my pictures in my previous post are in backwards order. So I will load them on Tapatalk in backwards order. Ok, here the rest of my pictures from our day at Santa Cruz. After riding the Sky Ride I hit up Undertow, my newest coaster credit to date, putting at 77 I think. My friend Adam is kind of a thrill ride wimp and wouldn't go on certain rides. He was unsure about Undertow with the spinning so I rode it the first time (in a backwards facing seat at the start). It was fun with several spins but not nearly as many as a Crazy Mouse or the Sierra Sidewinder at Knott's. I told Adam that he would like it and it spins less than the Crazy Mouse (he's ridden it at the CA Mid State Fair). He agreed to go on (we got forward facing seats at the start) and enjoyed the ride. Undertow had the longest line at the Boardwalk (expected being the new hotness) being about a 20 minute wait both times. The general public seems to like it and it looks like a good addition for the Boardwalk. After Undertow, we went on the bumper cars and someone in line had two extra unused wristband coupons they gave to Adam and Fina. Score! After they got wristbands they were willing to go on more rides. We headed down to the Giant Dipper which everyone rode. I still couldn't get Adam on Fireball or Double Shot - baby steps I guess. After that we grabbed a bite to eat. I got deep fried artichoke hearts (grown in nearby Castroville) with a Santa Cruz Mountain Brewing Giant DIPA (Double India Pale Ale). Score for a park that has local food and local beer. The 16 oz can of Giant DIPA (love that name) was strong and hoppy with 8.9% alcohol and was about $7 (same price as 24 oz can of Bud/Bud Light). Let's just say I didn't do as good on the carousel ring toss when we did it again after lunch. We did some various other rides and re rode the Giant Dipper several times until the rides closed at 7PM. I did the Fright Walk which is like an automated version of a haunted maze at Fright Fest or Knott's Scary Farm (but not as good). We did the indoor mini golf after the rides which was open until 8:30. It was 18 holes and had 3 glow in the dark holes. It was a lot of fun. I highly recommend the Indoor Mini Golf at the Boardwalk if you've never done before. We did some arcade games afterward which were open until 9:30. We wanted some dinner before heading home and looked up restaurants that were open on Yelp. I came upon Pono Hawaiian Grill in downtown SC which was really good and inexpensive. I ordered Poke which is like Hawaiian style sashimi with spices and a spicy sauce and a Loco Moco burrito which has grass fed ground beef, eggs, sweet onion and came with a spicy gravy for dipping (both are pictured). Fina ordered the Kailua Pork sliders which I didn't try but she raved about so that's worth trying. Pono Hawaiian Grill in Santa Cruz is worth checking when you want something besides burgers/fries/hot dogs after a day on the Boardwalk and it's kitchen is open until 11PM (at least when we went). It also has a separate full bar which is open later and music, outdoor patio, etc. Okay, that's all I got for our day at Santa Cruz on May 30th 2014.
  23. Some of pictures got mixed up in my first post (first pic got posted twice and the parking lot pic should have been first). When I tried to edit Tapatalk crashes, so I just going post pics with limited captions. Adam and I on the Sky Ride That's me! Who do I see? That's Anna and Fina, who decided to walk the length of the Sky Ride back. Undertow here we come! This is the building the carousel is housed in. The best seaside amusement park in the world according to Amusement Today. I wonder how it compares to Blackpool Pleasure Beach. More pics coming up soon.
  24. I did a day trip to Santa Cruz with couple of my friends a couple of Fridays ago. We drove up from the San Luis Obispo area and it took us about 2.5 hours to get there. Here are some pictures I took from our day there. The view of the Boardwalk and the new Undertow from where we parked on the street. I bought a unlimited rides plus wristband on my phone about 20 minutes before arriving there for $35 and change. The process was really easy and when I arrived to the will call window all I had to do was tell my name and show the card I paid with, no showing emails or print outs. It was $6 cheaper than at the gate, and there was no $8 service fee like another theme park website (*cough* six *cough* flags). The unlimited plus wristband also includes $3 in arcade play loaded on a card and two extra activities/games (I went with the Fright Walk and Mini Golf) and is only $2 more than the regular wristband. My friends Adam and Fina weren't sure about how many rides they were going to do so they did the 50 ticket bundle for $45. Fina's sister Anna drove down from Milpitas (Bay Area) and met us there. The first ride I did was the carousel (sorry, I forgot to take a picture of it). Now I normally don't do carousels and have never done the Santa Cruz one before but it has a ring toss so I had to try it. For those not familiar with it there are little metal rings that dispense out every time one ring is pulled out and you try to throw the ring into the clown's mouth almost immediately after you pull it out. Fina and I both got a ring in the clown's mouth on our first ride. What a way to make a carousel ride fun by turning it into a game! After the carousel we were getting warm so we walked down the Boardwalk to the Logger's Run. It was about 65F but it was sunny so it felt warmer. I didn't a sign or policy not allowing pictures on this ride so I took some pictures aboard. You get some great views of the south end of the Boardwalk, the beach, and the river on Logger's Run.I rode the front of the log and I got a lot wetter than on most other log flumes and even many rapids rides. Adam was willing to try the Hang Glider ride so we did that after Logger's Run (to help me dry off).
  25. Cool to see this dad build this for his son, and to have it be in the Bay Area.
