  1. I'm not sure how many of you are familiar with Cheerwine or have tried it, but I'm a top ten finalist in their Cheerwine Passion Project contest. If everyone that reads this post could click the link below and vote for IDEA # 7 by Andrew from California it would be greatly appreciated. You can vote every day through October 14 I believe. Hopefully a TPR member can win this contest. Thanks! http://cheerwinepassionproject.com/vote/ Vote for Idea #7 please!
  2. I've only been to three Six Flags parks so I'll rank them as follows: 1. Six Flags Great Adventure: Great variety of rides including something for everyone, nice scenic location along a lake/river with lots of green trees, three world class coasters: El Toro, Nitro, and Kingda Ka, an included one hour Safari ride, a working skyride (even though I didn't get a chance to ride it), and an enthusiastic staff and great operations the day I visited with TPR. 2. Six Flags Magic Mountain Despite the issues this park has and crap rap it get, I still manage to have a great time almost every time I go there. X2 and Tatsu are both world class coasters and Full Throttle is a lot of fun. The park is great for thrill seekers with its massive coaster collection and excellent drop ride, has an interesting layout with a nice front half and mountain, and has the major coasters spread out around the park. The operations are hit or miss, but are better this year compared to years past. 3. Six Flags Discovery Kingdom I haven't visited this park since it was SF Marine World, but I didn't like that all the major coasters were clustered by the front of park while all the animals were clustered in the back corner. I also didn't like that I could see almost half the park before I entered the main gate (which felt cheap to me). I still liked the park overall as it had three decent coasters (four now), some good flat rides, and some interesting animals to look at; I just felt like it wasn't as good as most other theme parks I've been to. This park is better for families with younger children than Magic Mountain, but Magic Mountain is better for thrill seekers or families with tweens/teens. Other Six Flags parks I would like to visit are Great America, Over Texas, Fiesta Texas, Over Georgia, and New England (mainly for Bizarro). It sounds like Six Flags America is the worst SF park from what I hear and I have no desire to visit that park unless I'm with a TPR group.
  3. Thunderhawk was my least favorite wooden coaster of the East Coast Trip and one of my least favorite overall coasters of the trip. I only rode it once and was done. It's a shame a coaster that historic is so bad. The other 1920s coasters I've ridden were at least good.
  4. Nice TR so far Thad. You seemed a lot more mellow on the East Coast Trip than on the Scandinavia Trip according to this trip report. I still don't get the MBF reference. My Best Friends?
  5. I don't know what you're talking about. There a big airtime moment right before you hit the brakes at the end. Exactly!
  6. Maybe the boats wil become reclaimed wood for park benches.
  7. Cool TR. I'm glad you made an experience of your Summer working at Cedar Point. You are very enthusiastic and that's what the theme park industry needs employee wise. Thanks for also sharing little seen photos of the resort like the beach. Does anyone swim at that beach? Also I agree that the sling shot rides are nothing special. I rode a sling shot ride at Magic Mountain 10 years ago with the highest thrill setting and it wasn't nearly as thrilling as I thought it was going to be. The sky coaster I rode right afterward was way better. Anyways have fun working Haunt and I look forward to those photos as well. I need to get to Cedar Point someday.
  8. It sounds like Malestrom was a better ride the Mexico one (don't even know what it's called) but a Frozen ride would be very out of place in the Mexico pavilion so Disney made the right call. 26 years is a pretty good run. Now Disney needs a hit movie to take place in Mexico / the Aztec period / Yucatan peninsula so they can replace that ride as well. I agree, I think Norway is my favorite even without the ride based on its looks, Food, and of course the Norwegian girls. Also back to the waterfall thing, that is the most impressive thing about the ride. From the outside the ride looks cooler than in really is (was). Also I never understood how at the best part of the ride, you are actually facing the wrong way! If you're not paying much attention or not sitting in the back of the boat you would not even notice the huge hole in the wall. It would would have been way cooler if you were facing forwards at that part. I was wondering which was the part of the ride where you could see the outside. I figured it was when the boat was backwards right before the final drop. Looks like I assumed correctly.
  9. Glad I got to experience the Malestrom ride virtually through TPR video. Compared to the Mexico ride next door which would you say is/was the better ride?
  10. Trainwreck 1979 "Death From Above 1979" Really liking this new rock song.
  11. I've been to both that 85C and Din Tai Fung. I used to stop at that 85C on the way to visit one of my sisters that lives by Corona until they opened one closer to her in Chino Hills. The strip mall with that 85C in West Covina also has a really good Japanese restaurant called Oto Oto Izakaya Japonaise. I've also been to Din Tai Fung a few times before heading home from the Inland Empire.
  12. I remember my dad telling me about this place as he visited it once in the 70s. I think he said it only had one train ride when he visited. I always felt that if Busch Gardens ever opened a third park they should go with an Asian theme. Next to Sea World in San Diego would have been nice, or if Busch had bought SFMM when it was briefly put up for sale they could have re themed it as Busch Gardens Asia.
  13. The new U2 album that got downloaded on my phone. It's pretty good. Thanks for the free album Apple!
  14. Skyrush and X2 are the other two examples I was thinking of that are non stop "Oh Sh!t" moments from start to finish.
  15. There are some Oh Sh!t rides that aren't one trick ponies and don't let up from start to finish. El Toro is a perfect example of this.
  16. Of the ones that I've ridden probably Gold Striker. I think I counted 12 or 13 moments of airtime during the ride, compared to 6 or 7 for Apocalypse. I don't remember how many moments of airtime Lightning Racer had and if it was more than Gold Striker, but I really like the racing/dueling aspect of the ride.
  17. I'm glad I got to virtually experience the Backlot Tour via TPR video. Outside of Catastrophe Canyon and a few props, there isn't anything noteworthy on the tour. Disney knew they were never going to beat Universal at the Backlot Tour, so they might as well allocate that space for far superior future attractions. Personally, I'm hoping for a Star Wars Land/World/Universe. I noticed the trams were advertising a Disney Channel Music Awards for April. Was this video from back then or did they not bother to change the advertisement (probably due to low ridership)?
  18. Funny video and even funnier shirts. #OneLastRide #LetItGo I never got to ride Malestrom as I haven't made it to WDW but it doesn't look like I missed much. I look forward to riding a superior attraction when I finally do make it out there to WDW.
  19. Pepsi Vanilla with Real Sugar yesterday. I wish they would keep it permanent and not limited time only.
  20. I have to agree! GLOW ERT was the best ERT eva! and my single favorite moment of the East Coast Trip.
  21. Great TR so far. Kings Island looks like nice landscaped park with the rides spread through out instead of clustered in one location. I'm glad to see that B&M built a kickass invert again and I've always been curious about The Beast. Kings Island and Cedar Point are definitely on my park bucket lists but they'll have to wait a bit longer as I want to try to go to the Land of the Rising Sun in the Far East next year. I've would have definitely joined you at Cedar Point had I chosen the New Hotness trip over the East Coast trip but that's decision I had to make and I do not regret it one bit. I'll try to post my own TR of my East Coast Trip in the coming weeks.
  22. Cool TR, just noticed it now. That Café park looks very green and well landscaped. I haven't been to Colombia, but looks very green like Brazil, which I've been too. I like how the relocated Schwarzkopf coaster is intergrated into the terrain and I always love a scenic sky ride. I'm glad this park is getting some love with a new Gerstlauer Eurofighter. Thanks for sharing.
  23. 11th and final beer at BeerCamp (a roommate drink my 12th beer [emoji35]) Electric Ray India Pale Lager by Ballast Point Brewing in San Diego, CA.
  24. I gotta give props to Arrow for pushing the envelop over the years. First tubular steel, first mine train, first corkscrew, first multi looper, first hyper coaster, first 7 looper, and first 4D coaster. They went bankrupt building one of my favorite rides (and my favorite Arrow): X2.
  25. 10th beer at Beer Camp Alt Route Altbier by Victory Brewing Company of Downingtown, PA
