Roller Coaster of the 'Future'
Aceattack52 replied to Sharkyjon's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, with what has been done in the past, I can say that there are probably going to be many more steel innovations than wooden ones. Even though we have these wooden coasters with inversions popping up all over the place, I really think that breaking the 500 foot barrier is going to be the next greatest thing. -
Google Glass/Recording Videos
Aceattack52 replied to Koasterking48's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Oh yeah. Instances of a ride op stopping a train on the lift hill to get someone to put their electronics away is on YouTube. I'll try to find a video later and post it here. -
Google Glass/Recording Videos
Aceattack52 replied to Koasterking48's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Of course they're going to be used to record coasters! People will probably be wearing these things all around and that includes on the rides. If you have them on and they have the ability to record, why not? Has anyone ever heard of a ride op make someone take off their glasses for a ride? I have not. I'm sure there probably has been some over the years but I couldn't recall any instances. Most people's glasses are usaully pretty secure by my udnerstanding. -
Your information on the offsite parking is correct. The Wingate has is for $10 for all day and if you go just to the next hotel past the Wingate, the Howard Johnson has parking for $5 for the whole day as well and it is basically the same distance from the park as the Wingate. (hlaf the price for almost literally the same lot) It's only a 5 minute walk, max. That's what we do whenever we go because $30 or whatever they charge for parking is insane. If you park at the hotel, I would say it is actually about the same walking distance as if you parked your car in the regular Six Flags lot, that's just how close it is. As for the park opening early, I haven't heard anything, ever, of the park opening early to better control the crowds. If you heard somewhere else, I would actually be interested in seeing that source because that's something I might want to do sometime. Or I would at least want to know to get there 30 minutes early.

The Wildest Wild Mouse
Aceattack52 replied to SteveC's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The wild mouse at Hershey Park is probably the best one I have been on. I remember seeing this one on YouTube a while back and looked pretty intense. I believe it's Road Runner at Kentucky Kingdom but I'm not entirely sure. I have not actually been on it, so I couldn't tell you if it was better or worse than the Wild Mouse at Hershey. Maybe someone else could help out with that. -
Huge Club TPR Update!
Aceattack52 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Wow yeah thanks for everything Robb. I am interested in a membership although Carowinds isn't on there yet for the discounts. The list is already pretty impressive-I don't know how you do it! I'll wait another month and if Carowinds isn't on there by then I'll just go ahead and get one anyways. I'm not all about the discounts and free stuff though, I really do want to support the site, which is very important. Once again, then to so much I really do appreciate all that you guys do. -
I have never actually gotten sick to my stomach on any ride, even on days when the lines are less than a minute and I can do multiple rerides. If I did get sick, I would go back as the problem is probably a lack of food that I ate. If you don't eat anything, that's just as bad as eating way too much.

I do this all the time, but I ask all around if anyone is going to sit there. especially if there is someone else in the row. There could be another member of their party that just went to drop something off in one of the storage bins. I have seen people sneak in and take seats from people. It's not good.

What is an item or a few items you use every day that costs about $25-$75 (can be more or less). I am looking for something I can purchase wholesale and resell, but you do not need to worry about that when thinking of something. Just think of all kinds of things! Even if it's crazy, it might inspire someone else to think of something more feasible. Ex-You say car, which is way more $75, but someone else my think of the car charger they got for their cell phone which they use everyday.

Fastest Lift Hill?
Aceattack52 replied to bonsaiisuperstar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
It's probably because using a smaller lift motor uaes less power, which is in the interest of the park, but will also make the lift much slower. I guess it's a matter of "if it doesn't have to go that fast, then why should we run it that fast?" -
Fastest Lift Hill?
Aceattack52 replied to bonsaiisuperstar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Maverick's (Cedar Point) lift is pretty fast but it is probably beaten by Millenium Force or I305 or some other coaster with the cable lift like that. -
What is the best floorless?
Aceattack52 replied to ddaver177's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Yeah the jojo roll. I would say Hydra is my favorite as well. -
None so far... as long as I'm careful about how many times I ride any Vekoma coasters in one day I think I should be OK for a while.

Best and Lamest Coaster "Ending"
Aceattack52 replied to Teddymonster's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Superman at SFOG has a good ending with that helix into a barrel roll. It's too bad that the pretzel loop and the barrel roll are really the only good parts of the ride, though. The worst ending to any of the coasters I have been on is probably Steel Force at Dorney Park. You finish going through the camel humps towards the end and then it seems like they didn't know what they should do next to connect the end of the break run with the end of the row of camel humps so they just stuck some track in there. Although I do give them credit, being probably the only thing they could have done to connect the two with the space given. If they had more space a nice helix would be kind of nice(er). -
Funniest Ride Experiences
Aceattack52 replied to Coasters 4 ever's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I have two things to say and both regard Intimidator at Carowinds. 1) Every time I ride, there is a least a few things people lose at the top of the hill after the first drop. I have seen the usual cell phones, wallets, car keys, ect. But I have also seen a shoe and a shirt before. It's actually quite a bit of stuff. 2) There was one time when an Indian man and his daughter and his daughter's friend got on the ride and I was sitting in the same car as them. The two younger girls were sitting in the two seats that are right next to each other in front and the man was sitting in the back seat on the other side of the car as me. So they sit down and the dad is pushing on the two girl's restraint pretty hard, it looked fairly uncomfortable. That's understandable, it is possible that that was their first time to a theme park or the guy was just looking out for them. As we leave the station, the guy says his daughter's name then "keep your head back". Now, I usually don't put my head against the headrest because sometimes I get a headache doing that and it's just uncomfortable to try to hold your head there for the whole ride. But anyways, when we were cresting the lift hill, he says it again, "(girl's name) keep your head back." After the first drop and we are cresting that first hill, he says it once more. So I started counting. At various points during the ride he said it, resulting in a total count of eight times. I'm not exaggerating. But that's not the best part! While we're sitting there on the break run, the guys says "wow, that was fun." The girls agree with him, then he says "you just have to remember to keep your head back." That' would be a grand total of nine times. This is the first hill-where everybody loses stuff. -
Carowinds Discussion Thread
Aceattack52 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The only advice I would have is to hit NightHawk first, the line for that is horrendous even just before closing. Right when the park opens and the line is 5 minutes long is about the only time it's going to be worth it. -

I think they were just painted the same, both are blue as of right now.
