Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread

Hulks launch isn't B&M's design, the crew at Universal developed that system. -

^I said they have enough launches, 4 total, 7 if you want to include all three of WT's during its cycle. I put "record" in quotes for just the reason you stated, it'd be a record amongst us nerds -

^I could see something like this happening. Personally I hope it's the 4D concept as CP has enough launches for me, although B&M's first launch could be a nice "record" to have. -
TPR 2012 Tour Flyers, Details & FAQ!
harper83087 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I need to find some money quick!! I really want to do LeviaTHON and Newhotness but I can barely afford Leviathon alone. Second job time? I think so Worst case I'll just end up doing WCB. Speaking of, when can we expect details on WCB 2012? -
I will most likely budget trips for SFMM and Knotts as they are the closest. I will be going to Sea World San Diego to ride Manta as a friend has family down there and can get me into the park. Wish list is SFDK, CGA, LeviaTHON & Newhottness (If I can manage the money), if I can't make those tours I'd at least like to get to Dollywood and Hershey, and if I make a trip home to see family I'm sure a CP trip will be included.

Six Flags and the "Flash Pass"
harper83087 replied to KevinPage's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I used the FP at SFMM back in July and it was well worth every penny both days. It's definietly worth the extra money on busy days but as most people say, judge the crowd once you're there. If it's not too busy then the FP isn't really needed. As for efficiency, we never had an issue. Slight confusion on rides that were retrofitted to the system and you enter through the exit, but the newer rides with designated FP entrances worked smoothly. -
Hersheypark (HP) Discussion Thread

^Ditto! It's good to see the flood didn't cause too much damage to the track and supports. I love it when things start to go vertical and this one looks close. -
Kings Island (KI) Discussion Thread
harper83087 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Personally I've become a supporter of any style of the "Fast Pass" or "Fast Lane" systems because I do not get to parks as often as I'd like. These systems allow me to get as much of my fix as I can before the long drought that lies ahead. I'm not familiar with the new system in place at KI but I'm sure it has a few kinks that need worked out before it's where it needs to be. -

I know a few people that work at CP and they're saying that the new CF guy is shaking things up big time, in a good way. I've heard a few juicy rumors about CP for 2013, so I can only assume that KI will get some love too. -
Favorite Standalone Haunts?
harper83087 replied to Stephen G's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I remember Erebus's first year, the wait was almost 3 hours long and wrapped around the block and down the street. Phoenix's haunted attraction is Fear Farm http://www.fearfarm.com/. I'm not a haunted attraction person, I've done my fair share of houses, walk throughs and mazes and personally don't care for any aspect of them. From what I've heard though Fear Farm is among the top attractions in the country. Their mascots, the two clowns on the websites home page, seem to be everywhere in the valley Sept and Oct. -

Well this is a great way to ruin my good day. Goodbye Ron, your innovations helped create what we know today. -

^the fact that the chains are broken and the casket is open leads me to believe they're planning on re-opening the ride, if in fact the grave yard has any meaning towards the future at all. The height and speed give that thing great potential but making it rideable again is a major project, which I know has been said many many times before. -
Canada's Wonderland Discussion Thread

I don't think it's that people are annoyed, just confused. At least I know I'm a bit confused. They could have easily had another turn or two and been just fine. I know money probably played a huge factor in this design decision but a quick helix couldn't have costed too much. -

Coolest station you've seen
harper83087 replied to Eric_Smith's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
The one I remember the most is Hulk's station then moving into the gama ray. Honorable mentions go to Dueling Dragons and I really like the simplicity of TTD's station -
Just gotta show a little love for my two teams, GO TIGERS!!! GO D-BACKS!!! I'm not too big into following baseball, I'm a hockey guy, but I go to quite a few d-backs games through work. So growing up watching the tigers and now the new support for the d-backs I'm having a good year

What's the worst station you've been in
harper83087 replied to tribar's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Magnums is always a cluster f*** whenever it's station is full. Raptors additional front row Q that wraps behind the rear of the train is confusing when there's nobody limiting the number of people in the station. Riddler's was a mess. Deja Vu is just a flat out mess. -

Weirdest Things The 'GP' Have Said
harper83087 replied to maliboomer's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That's great! I had a similar experience on TTD at CP with a guy sitting behind me. I hope I'm healthy enough in my later years to still be able to enjoy coasters like that. -
It's always interesting have to switch from "geek mode" to talking in "GP Mode." I'm glad you thought it all sounded ok. Had to remind myself that I wasn't talking to someone "in the know" the whole time. Another thing I've noticed is the restraint you have. Whenever somebody gets me on coasters I want to bring up every coaster I think of and go on tangents and they end up looking at me like "When is this nut going to shut up?"

Cedar Point (CP) Discussion Thread
harper83087 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^Nice Rant . Personally I've never had a bad ride on Raptor except for one front row ride on a cold rainy evening when it felt like I was being pelted with ice chips, and even then it flew through the course for a great ride. It's not my favorite invert but it ranks highly on my list. Everyone is entilted to their opinons on rides, for example; I love Mean Streak, many do not
