  1. No it did make a difference. People tend to exaggerate things. Like every other wooden coaster ive been on, sometimes you get a good ride, sometimes a bad one. Since the new trains were added, ive had some very smooth enjoyable rides, and some that were quite rough. Similarly when I went on mean streak, I didn't find it rough at all, just rather boring.
  2. Six Flags Great America. I'm basing this on the fact that CGA is still not stable with their finances yet and removing an asset on their property for future development doesn't seem like a smart move at the moment, especially given that they just purchased Goldstriker a year ago. There was never an issue with the parks finances, it was an issue of the old Cedar Fair management neglecting it because they thought they were going to sell the property and demolish it so the stadium could be built. Financially, they were fine. After researching it a bit I appear to have my facts incorrect. This also reintroduces one of the major questions I have about the park, which the debt issue was a long excuse for: Why does the place so dang crappy and ran down for a major California theme park? Off topic, but I second this, seeing as CGA is right in the middle of one of the wealthiest counties in the country.
  3. Im in the major majority on this, but I loved mantis. I rode it one time, in the front row. I had made it so the crotch restraint was just below nutsmasher position, and I didn't have any head banging.
  4. This is more than likely due to maintenance. One big issue with the park was how poorly the rides were treated from 2000-2010. The lack of maintenance during this time is what's causing lack of trains, frequent breakdowns. In fact PARC caused companies to stop providing parts, etc from lack of payment. It seems as though many don't realize how badly the park was treated, and how they are STILL recovering. Many years of the mentality to spend as little as possible on maintenance is a huge issue. I would expect to see the park to continue to remove rides because of their condition.
  5. You are exactly the park's target audience when it comes to Canadians. People that find CW too overwhelming with size, and less of a family vacation atmosphere.
  6. Seems like the waterpark is lacking a solid large play structure like area. That would make sense for expanding the waterpark, seeing as how popular they are with the entire family, and are a staple of any waterpark.
  7. That would actually make a lot of sense to move the entrance right next to scream. It would eliminate the need for trams, and allow them to expand the waterpark more.
  8. Usually that extra fence denotes a danger zone, from a restricted zone. All of the under LR area is probably a danger zone, but that still isn't stopping an idiot from going in there.
  9. I love the way they run Banshee with the exception of the grouper. Because of the grouper rows were constantly going out empty as they always missed entire rows and I do think it's annoying when you can't wait for the front or back seat if you choose to do so. Sometimes they let you wait, other times they don't and it just depends on who's working. Just let the people who want to wait wait and put the next group in the next empty row (to their credit some people were doing this). What I was impressed with was the fluffy, fluffy bunny filled with medicine and goo policy and flip flop policy. They just tell everyone to take a seat and they'll take the flip flops for them ( It's a great idea as it's the only loose article you do have to be concerned with just because of the nature of inverted coasters.), and if you have any other loose articles when you reach the platform you have to take them with you or not ride. They don't waste time with overweight riders either... they'll give one or two pushes on the restraint and then they have to leave. They're not mean about it, but they don't waste time either. The only thing I take issue with is the souvenir cups. Parks should always allow you to store them for free, otherwise they'll end up losing money because a lot of people will stop buying them. I'm not saying you should store them on the platform, but they should have special storage locations for them somewhere... even Six Flags figured this out. When I was at CP last year we just hid our cups in bushes around MF and TTD. But there should be a better system for that.
  10. It's been a common thing that HFE wanted to remove alcohol from the park. They don't serve alcohol at any of their other parks, however it makes too much money for the park so they kept it,
  11. It doesn't slow loading that much, maybe on Banshee it would because they were dispatching insanely fast. But i just hate that policy, it's such a money grab.
  12. No, Canadians hand down are the driver of the park. They generate the most revenue, due to the accommodations. Favor ability ratings of the park are significantly higher for the Canadian crowd, and they come to darien lake for a getaway (camping) and because the park is more manageable for families, plus it's less crowded. This is straight from the marketing department.
  13. They have a bigger Detroit, Toronto. When you look at the 3 hour drive radius, there is a huge population. You have: Buffalo/Niagara/Cataragus : 1.21 million Rochester/Batavia/Seneca Falls : 1.15 million Syracuse/Auburn : 0.73 million Erie/Meadville : 0.37 million Cleveland/Elviyra/Mentor: 2.06 million Golden Horseshoe (Toronto/Hamilton/Missasauga): 8.79 million So within a 3 hours drive you have 13.31 million people approximately. Which is why there has been a big focus on improving the overnight accommodations, to capture these people in.
  14. ^well everyone here love Tim hortons, and it's cheaper than Starbucks, so it's probably more popular for the park. (Prices are the same as every other TH). Side note, what happened to people having pictures from opening day. A picture of the cuda site from the giant wheel would be cool.
  15. The use of chain link fences in multiple places isn't fantastic, but it doesn't look terrible.
  16. Does it make the ride worse that BlastOff isn't new? No. I'd rather see the park get more used rides than less new rides. It's an economical way to grow the business.
  17. Having ridden Raptor, Montu, Alpengeist, and Banshee. I would put banshee at the top easily. It has this certain intensity, yet insane speed in the massive elements. I think the new restraints are a big thing for me as well, the ride is just that much better with them, and there is zero head banging.
  18. That area is actually a massive area. You're not going to be able to judge its size from looking at. If the hill is leveled you're looking at a flat area that's roughly the size of Maverick (for scale). That area is about 3 acres.
  19. Not having been to six flags park in a while, but a while back it's was 25$ for a papa johns pizza. Talk about taking the worst pizza, and making it absurdly expensive.
