What you see with floodgate isn't everything. It has a large foundation under the surface, as well as all of it's pumping systems being built in a building under ground. Also, it's a bit different than shipwreck because much of it is under cuda falls. So it would have a larger impact on the structural integrity of cuda. It most likely wasn't worth the cost of a tedious removal when cuda was only expected to last a few more seasons.

I strongly suspect that that area will not have new waterpark rides. The large seperation causes a lot of logistical issues. Also, that entire area is a huge prime piece of real estate. If the park is going to a new roller coaster, here's the best chance of that happening. (Thought, maybe they cancelled the predator conversion because of said project.)

Why Does Everybody Hate on Six Flags?

Last summer I went to my first cedar fair park (cp) and I was amazed at their operations style. The fact that they had one persons who was pretty much just dedicated to making announcements was incredible. That coupled with them striving to meet their minimum time between dispatches and having a great attitude just blew me away. I think it's the employees that's a major difference between cedar fair and SF. Ps that Walmart and target comparison was spot on. Six Flags has a similar business strategy to them, just like spirit airlines and carnival cruise lines. Pack people in with little regard to quality, at a "low" price. -

Yeah see, this....I consider this to be the epitome of trashyness. And it just looks like they're catering a lower class group of people. -

Does the park really get that packed during preseason? Or is it just going to be bad because of banshee. -

So I'm planning to go to the park and I've got three options, April 19th, 26 or May 3. Anyone who knows the park have any suggestions on what day will be the best, I know weather would be a big factor, but Is opening weekend going to be packed? -
^the market does reach Toronto, for two reasons. First, they can make a weekend camping trip to Darien Lake, which CW doesn't have. And second, they like how much less crowded DL is than CW. So the parks do share a common pool of people, but they don't compete, they more or less co-exist. I guess you could say its similar to how CP and GL exist before they tried to compete with CP, albeit a much smaller market.

^^or the fact that they blurred that one woman's butt. -
We'll not the highest. The various disney parks still dominate the top 10 in North America. I think people seem to overlook that the Toronto area, and the golden horseshoe are one of the largest metros in the world. In fact the 5th largest in North America, outside of NYC, Mexico City, LA, and Chicago.

It really bothers me how much they advertise in the parks. The train wrapping just looks incredibly trashy to me. -
First, no. -CNL income owns Darien Lake. They are the sole owner. Herschend leases the park and operates it. No one here actually knows how the park handles capital improvements. One thought, CNL pays for capital expenditures, which in turn causes Herschend's lease payments to go up. Again, speculation there. HFE (Herschend family entertainment) signed a 3 year lease contract for the 2011, 12, and 13 seasons. So they could've left the park this of season if they didn't have the intention of buying it. (They did this with Elitch Gardens) Second, they will build. But itheyre clearly doing it methodically. One of the biggest things currently going for them is the campground, and short lines. Canadians are largely driving the park right now because of these two. (Source: Darien lake marketing department) Third, I'm sorry but that's an ignorant comment. The public thinks every ride is unsafe. Fourth, enthusiast really can't do anything to influence their descision. They clearly know significantly more about how to operate a park, and the economics associated with the park. Telling them to build the crazy 30 million dollar roller coaster is pretty much the same as yelling at the quarterback on tv to throw the ball to the receiver that you think is open.

^it would all come down to the architecture. RCT2 came out when ARM was barely being used. So a port may be significantly more difficult. Side note, I've put RCT2 on a windows tablet (asus t100)' with a pretty lame atom processor and it still ran great though. Except for the error trapper you'd get if you tried to alter the resolution.

People need to understand that not everything is designed to suit every body type. Amusement restraints are designed with specific body physics, and when you change that problems happen. There are specific reasons for every safety rule that exists regarding a ride, this rule was enhanced by the Darien Lake incident. Also the public doesn't seem to understand that the rules are generally made by recommendations by the manufacturers, government authorities, and insurance companies.
