La Ronde Discussion Thread

Have there been any indications as to whether Titan will have the same fantastic lighting package as the one at SFOT? -
Six Flags will eventually start building major, large scale coasters again. . . I mean, sooner or later they are going to run out of flat rides to install. You guys need to start understanding how the park's budget works. If they built a large multi million dollar rollercoaster that flipped you a million times over again and went a 1000 miles per hour, after the newness wore off you'd be complaining that the park "still looks old and outdated. This ride needs to be repainted, and the trash can over in the area of the park needs to be replaced." Six Flags has come up with a business plan to add something new to every park every year. Now whether you a agree with it it or not, doesn't matter, it's not your company. Whether it will pay off, time will tell. Parks are looking into cheaper, smaller footprint rollercoasters and attractions. Six Flags is one of the companies that is definitely investing money into these types of rides. Big sprawling roller coasters, may initial bring in big crowds, but eventually the hype dies down and it the cost to maintain the ride start to level out with the profit the ride is making the park. Six Flags has invested a lot of money into their seasonal events like FF and HITP. So rather than spending a whole lot of money on a huge ride, they've spread out their budgeted money for "smaller" new rides, park maintenance, and additions to the seasonal events. If you've followed IAAPA at all this past year, there have been several ride manufacturers that have developed rides that I could see Six Flags bringing into their park in the near future. As far an over coaster community, I think 2018 looks VERY promising. Cedar Faire is spending a good amount of money on a couple new coasters as well as Herschend Family Entertainment. What does Six Flags have in store for 2018? We'll see in September. *Fingers Crossed* You're right, of course. But an RMC T-Rex Giga would totally rule!!!

It does look odd, though. It seems to be sitting in rather close proximity to your Tornado water park ride. Here at SFOT, ours is nestled in neatly next to Riddler Revenge and Catwoman Whip in our Gotham City section. Hurricane Harbor is actually across the highway from SFOT, so we never have water park rides and theme park rides sitting adjacent to one another.

I wouldn't be too sure about that. SFOT hasn't received a Larson Looper even though they seem to be cropping up at a lot of other parks. My understanding is that they aren't going to be getting one since Traders Village just put one in down the road aways. It's possible and even probable that SFSTL will get an S&S 4D, but nothing is certain at this point.

You should be excited! Those Diskos are one of Zamperla's best rides. The only thing better than a Disko is a Disko Coaster, because it's the same thing but also a coaster. The only reason I'm not more excited myself is that we have one at Silver Dollar City, ehich is 3x closer to me and about 100x better park. If I lived in St. Louis, though, I'd be stoked for Spinsanity. I have ridden Hurricane Force 5 (Zamperla Disk'o) at SFFT. And, while it's a fun ride, it doesn't compare to Riddler (Zamperla Giant Discovery) at SFOT. The Zamperla Giant Discovery's and Huss Giant Frisbee's are easily the best flat rides out there.

A Zamperla Disk'o could literally be put up in a day if the park wanted. There would still be construction on the queue and operator's booth and such, but that shouldn't take long either. Soon you'll have a great new flat ride to enjoy at SFSTL. BTW, is this going to be anywhere close to Fireball? I ask this because I have always felt that having a collection of flats in close proximity to one another was more appealing than having them spread over the park. This lends itself to a more carnival like atmosphere. Here at SFOT we have Harley Quinn, Catwoman, Riddler and now Joker all within a few feet from each other. Close by are Batman, Mr. Freeze and Batwing. These are accompanied by restaurants and gift shops along with gaming booths. We now have one the best Gotham City sections in any SF park. When you enter it you feel as if your in an entirely different theme park from the rest of SFOT. It's that good!
