I was a little annoyed when we got there at 5:45 expecting to be there for opening and found everything running already, but at least the lines weren't very long. Awesome pictures -
My boyfriend [307] and I went to Season Pass Holder's night at PCW yesterday. We were suprised by the kid's area being much more crowded than the rest of the park. Usually, from what I've seen, it's the other way around. We took a bunch of pictures of the park, but not really any of us doing things. I figured I would post them anyway. EDIT: I posted a not so awesome POV of Vortex in the videographer forum. http://www.themeparkreview.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=24828 Wild Beast felt different, like it had all it's wheels replaced or something. It sounded a lot louder. Still a lot of fun though. The area around Vortex is very nice. It looks so much brighter with the new paint job. Vortex got a new paint job. It looks awesome. Shockwave, my favorite flat ride at PCW. They were dispatching trains really fast on Dragon Fire, not so fast on everything else we went on. Dragon Fire also didn't hurt at all, which is a first for me. I think the new-ish signs, and in some cases names, for the rides in this area of the park look weird with all the castle themeing. Cliffhanger is a fun ride when the water is off I always liked the castle themeing. It was cloudy at first, but thankfully it didn't rain like it was supposed to. There are skid mark rings all over the parking lot from where the motorcycles were practicing. The 'new for this year' stunt show is located in the parking lot.

I've been to PCW many times. I'm going there this Friday for Season Pass Holder's Night. I've driven by La Ronde twice, but haven't actually been. Hopefully I'll be making a trip there this summer.

Trip back east in June Advice
shesaidboom replied to Bush985's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Looks like a good plan. I'm doing a trip around those same dates and am going to some of the same parks you are. I'm actually going to Holiday World on one of the dates you had originally planned to, June 6th. -
Last August at Hershey Park. The first day my boyfriend and I were there it was raining, but was still pretty crowded. Half the rides were closed, which was understandable because of the rain. The park operations on the rides that were open were terrible. Most of the coasters that were open were only running one train even though the lines were over an hour long, and it took at least five minutes to dispatch once they were in the station. A rideop who was checking lap bars on Lightning Racer got a phone call during a lap bar check and instead of finishing the train, she answered the call and finished checking lap bars when she was done! I didn't know they could take phone calls while they were in the station. We asked a rideop on Great Bear [which we waited nearly two hours for] why they were only running one train and she told us that they didn't want to transfer another train onto the tracks in the rain. After riding everything that was open, except Comet since the line poured out into the midway and it was also running only one train, we decided to get our Roller Soaker credit since we were already soaking wet. Bad idea! Obviously you get wet on Roller Soaker, but we had no idea that it was as bad as it was. My fault since I suggested going on it. We came off the ride freezing cold and decided to buy towels since we're lame and can't handle being cold. To make matters worse the hotel we were supposed to be staying in that night turned out to be disgusting and we decided to find another one. We got turned away from several hotels based on the fact that we looked young and they assumed we wouldn't be able to afford their prices. I know you're thinking "well they might've been full", but I actually called a couple hotels and on the phone they said they had rooms available and when we walked in they said they were booked. Right. We finally found a nice hotel after nearly two hours of searching. Luckily we decided on two days at Hershey and our next day was much better, besides the fact that it was completely packed.

Parks that got nothing this year...
shesaidboom replied to jarmor's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Paramount Canada's Wonderland. Well, we got a stunt show and we did get The Italian Job last year so I have no reason to complain. I don't really expect them to get something big every year. I'm hoping next year they'll take out Tomb Raider and put something good in its place but yeah, that's not going to happen. -
Transatlantic airline food for the picky eater
shesaidboom replied to USRoadTripper's topic in Ask Alvey
Everytime I've flown somewhere it has always been a choice of pasta or chicken, and the one time I was upgraded to first class it was a choice between seafood pasta and beef. I never eat airplane food, I'm a very picky eater too, so I'll always bring a few small snacks with me incase I get hungry during the flight. Even if you end up eating the in-flight meal, it doesn't hurt to be prepared with a few snacks anyway. -
I will second the Movieland (Best Western) Hotel on International Drive. It was $50 a night, very clean, and is actually pretty nice. I stayed there for 4 nights last August and was impressed. I wouldn't stay at Rodeway Inn if I were you. I've had horrible experiences with Rodeway Inns.

So.... when is too young to get your kiddo on a coaster!?!
shesaidboom replied to OzErik's topic in Ask Alvey
My mom forced me to go on Big Thunder Mountain at Disney World when I was 6 and was terrified of coasters. I cried and cried, but she dragged me into the line anyway. She thought I'd go on and like it, but I hated it and wouldn't go near another coaster for two or three years..which is when I started loving them. She still feels bad about it. I agree with everyone who has said not to force your kids to go on rides if they don't want to. You can ask them to go with you or suggest a ride to them, but if they say no I'd leave that ride alone for a while. I also agree with Elissa in that just because a child is tall enough to ride doesn't mean they're ready. You know your kids better than anyone else so only you really know if they're ready or not. I'd also suggest explaining what a new ride does before you ride...when I visited Knoebel's last year I saw a 4 year old boy taking his first ride on a 'big coaster' and before he went on his dad explained what the ride did and asked if he was sure he wanted to ride a few times. -
Worst Coaster Ever?

Second this. Horrible coaster. -
Tree Topper at Upper Clements Park
shesaidboom replied to shesaidboom's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
My mom said the same thing about there being a lot of room and not many rides, but she didn't remember much else and didn't ride the coaster since she hates them. 17 hours? Wow! Thanks for the info -
I know this is a long shot because of the location, but has anyone been on Tree Topper at Upper Clements Park [Nova Scotia, Canada]? If you have and you have pictures or can tell me what this coaster was like when you were there, I'd really appreciate if you posted. I rode it while on vacation when I was 12, but can't for the life of me remember anything about it. I'd visit again myself, but it's a little far to go for just one coaster. There are 3 pictures up on rcdb.com, but was hoping someone would have more. Here's the link incase anyone is interested... http://www.rcdb.com/id195.htm

Coasters that haven't aged well...
shesaidboom replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I forgot about Mighty Canadian Minebuster...it used to be one of my favorite coasters also and was pretty smooth when I was a lot younger and before Splash Works was even around. Now I wont even bother riding it. -
Coasters that haven't aged well...
shesaidboom replied to Movieguy's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Agreed on both points. I usually come off Magnum with bruises on my upper thighs, but I still love it and have a lot of fun on it whenever I ride...and maybe I bruise easily? I found Vortex to be very painful and didn't like it much at all. I've only been on these coasters recently though, so I can't make any comments on how they've aged. -
First Coaster of the Season

Vortex or Wild Beast at PCW, but season pass holder's night isn't until May 5th -
Silliest coaster ever ?
shesaidboom replied to nemesis-storm's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I've been on that thing. I didn't really consider it a coaster until I saw it on rcdb, even though I guess you 'coast' through it..you have to climb up a flight of stairs, get in the sled, and some guy at the top throws you down the hill. There's a lift hill, but it's for the empty sleds. The go carts were much more fun
