B&M Flyer Seating
palmerleeberry replied to haiderodes's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Okay, park fans, here's my take on B&M Flying Coasters and their restraints: I never had any problems fitting into those seats even though I'm 250 pounds (and still trying to lose more) and six feet tall. My gripe is the kiddie coasters: I cannot get on them because I will either need some kiddie with me and/or they won't let such a large size adult ride on (so I don't collect kiddie credits!!! )! Okay, I'm getting off the subject. Where was I? Oh Yeah . . . The way these restraints are designed, there's no way anyone could fly out of them short of having the darn things come undone . . . "I like that idea. I should have a coaster that does that in my realm and call it 'Bat Out Of Hell'"! and I'm pretty sure those restraints can fit most anyone that doesn't need a wheelbarrow to haul their big fat gut around. But don't take my word on it being that I've never seen anyone get barred from ridding a flying coaster due to being too large to fit in the restraints. "Hey, devil, you just gave us a great idea for a future coaster for Hard Rock Park - a flying coaster themed to 'Bat Out Of Hell'" Thanks a lot! "Oh, you liked that idea? Well, I got several more ideas that should make you all happy and . . . WHAT? I'm not suppose to make people happy with my ideas! And if Hard Rock Park steals that idea from me, there will be H,E, (double hockey sticks) to pay!" "And we will be there to bless this coaster, if it's ever made, so there will be no payout. Isn't that wonderful?" " Aww, kiss my !!! -
Old Disneyland Maps
palmerleeberry replied to sfmmfreak101's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Very interesting map you have there from an earlier time. Yes, the attraction "Pirates of the Carribean began operating in 1967, so that map was probably from that season. I was at Disneyland in the year 2000 and I can honestly say that park has undergo massive changes and additions over the year. Walt Disney once said that his park would never be completely builded, and was he ever right. "Mickey Mouse for President!!!" -
Okay, you started this topic on what parks we're planning to visit on this season of 2008.NO WISHFUL THINKING, JUST ACTUAL GOING THERE! Okay, here there are (in no particular order) First, I'll be getting a seaon pass from Cedar Fair so I visit my nearest and dearest park KINGS DOMINION. With that pass, I can also visit CAROWINDS, KINGS ISLAND,, CEDAR POINT, and DORNEY PARK! I'm also planning to attend HERSHEYPARK. Then there are smaller parks I'm inching to visit including LAKEMONT PARK (in Altoona, PA) AND ADVENTURELAND PARK (near Fredrick, MD). And finally, I'll be heading to Myrtle Beach in South Carolina to enjoy the beach, enjoy watching the bikini - clad babes, and attend the first ever season ofHARD ROCK PARK! Is it any wonder why I'm getting back into shape? To ride all those rides, of course.

Carowinds New Ride Names
palmerleeberry replied to Milkchan's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
In the beginning, Carowinds came out with a kick coaster. They called it TOP GUN and everybody !!! Then Cedar Fair came along and changed the name to FLIGHT DECK and everybody or or . Cedar Point, seeing the error of their ways, rename it AFTERBURNER and everybody was again!!! "Hey, I loved the name Flight Deck." "So you admit that you like anything that's lame? "Aww. . . kiss my !!!" -
Do NOT try this at your local waterpark!
palmerleeberry replied to Skramp's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I saw the video and I was impressed by the stunts these riders were doing. I'm sure that these riders were professional stuntmen and probably trained long and hard to do stunts like that. Stuntmen like these dedicated their lives to understanding the risks involved, and no way should anyone else try them. So I will enjoy the show, but don't ask me to duplicate those stunts. I'm a rider, not a stuntman. But I got to admit, I love the hill flip! -
Let's face it: going to parks today is expensive!!! But I'm sure there are many ways you can save money and still have a great day. So this is why I'm opening this topic of discussion up - for your tips on saving money. But before I continue, please no lying, cheating, and stealing allow. These tips should all be legal!!! So here's my tip to beat thirst and dehydration and save $$$. 1) Go to any food stand that sells sodas and buy a large soda. Tell them you want plenty of ice in your drink. 2)Now quickly consume the soda until you have nothing but ice left. 3)Go to the bathroom and refill cup in the sink. Now you have ice water. If you finished your cup before all the ice melted, then refill cup again. That way, you will always have cold, ice water without needing to use the water fountains (which are always lukewarm). I did that trick at Cedar Point and Ghost Town in the Sky. That's my one way to save money. What's yours?

I may or may not be correct, but the very first coaster to be launch forward and backwards (and have a single loop in it) was the Schwartzkopf's creation King Kobra in Kings Dominion. In other parks, they used the name "Greezed Lightin'", but it's the same ride. When King Kobra debuted in 1978, this coaster was the first of its kind. No other coaster launched the riders through a loop and then sends you backwards.

Silverwood Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to Damien666's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Hey, hey, hey!!! If Silverwood can get this coaster up and running (not to mention if I can find out where Silverwood is and see if I can make a trip up there), then I may finally fulfill a cause I thought was lost forever: TO RIDE THE DEJA VU!!! But I may have to wait it out because I dont want to go to that park on the day that Deja Vu wasn't running and have myself cussing, causing a park attendant to give one of those goofy smiles despite my grief, causing me to be ticked off, causing me to punch her in the nose and earn a free ride to jail. Trust me, folks, THAT ALMOST HAPPENED AT SIX FLAGS OVER GEORGIA! Well, here's hoping that Silverwood keeps that coaster going. -
Kings Dominion (KD) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm sure sorry to see this coaster go, but I guess the coaster had two problems that Cedar Fair decided to deal with and eliminate: too much downtime and only could seat up to eight riders per train. Still, it was and will remain one of my favorite coasters. Hopefully, there will be another park that will buy this coaster and set it up (maybe a small park). As for the rumored coaster that is planning to take Hypersonic's place, all I can say is "BRING IT ON!!! -
I am six feet tall and I weigh close to 250 pounds and I never had any problems fitting into the roller coaster restraints (Yep, even the toture restraints of SFA's Superman : Ride of Steel). But I'm not going to laugh at this topic because I once read on a lovelorn page about an overweight person who was planning to commit sucide because he couldn't fit into the restraints of the roller coaster and got so embarrassed he wanted to die. Please, folk, no need to kill yourself just because you cannot fit on a ride. All you need to do is just get yourself back into shape and lose a few of those pounds. Then when the new lighter you can fit into those restraints, then you can hold your hands up in the air and yell out "YEAH!!!"

Those were sure sexy pictures of South Korea's roller coasters. Too bad they are in South Korea instead of the good ole USA. But at least at my homepark of Kings Dominion they have coasters such as Volcano - The Blast Coaster and the upcoming Dominator while the classic Rebel Yell is always a must ride for me. "Those coasters in South Korea: I'm in love!

The best thing about this news story is that There were no reports of any injuries nor death! Nobody got hurt, just had to wait patiently to be rescued. In time, they will find out what caused the unusual noise, get that problem fixed, and have the riders screaming on that ride once again. "Nobody was hurt. Blessed Day!" "What! No injuries? That sucks! I want some roller coaster deaths!" "Okay, how about we put them on the Deja Vu?" "But that coaster never runs. How can I get any. . . (he finally gets the joke) Aww, kiss my !!!

Kings Island Renames Rides
palmerleeberry replied to coolhandluke's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
A few weeks ago, I posted my opinions on the name "Flight Deck" to replace "Top Gun" at Carowinds. And I even added this. to the person who thought up "Flight Deck" Now as to Kings Island, I'm not to sure to complain of the name change because the station does look like you're on a battleship. Still, I was hoping for "The Bat" to return although the changes require would be downright expensive and time consuming for that rehab. Oh well, bad name, but excellent ride. -
Great Photos of the this park. I got This may be a park worth my visit despite the name that is often related to kids. That coaster looks amazing. One last thing, the Mighty Axe: I wouldn't mind to ride that since Six Flags America got rid of theirs (and didn't bother to replace it with something else)

Homer wrote: You said it, it was "'Bout tootin' time" that Darien Lake finally got a new coaster. Last time I was at that park, it was Six Flags Darien Lake and they only had five coasters, but plenty of flat rides (some I couldn't ride anyplace else). This new and exclusive attraction can be the first step in the right direction to get this park into every rider's "must visit or die" list.

Ole' South USA
palmerleeberry replied to BlackHole2005's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
I'm all for this new park for Nashville, Tennessee (heck, I'm for any new park that's being built - it means a "I must visit it" for me), especially since I never got to visit Opryland (I met people who had and they told me wonderful stories about that park). "I wish I had more to say, but I can't think of anything else to add." -
I am outraged by the attitudes of these guest who ignore safety rules and practices and do these sort of crazy things with no regards to their own health nor to the benefits of other riders that follows the rules. I go to many parks every year and I ride a ton of rides, but I always follow the rules and the instructions of the ride operators. Safety comes first whenever I visit a park and that should be anyone's #1 rule. I want to leave the park in the exact same shape when I entered. One last thing on the Tornado ride clip: those dumb kids were suppose to hang on tight to the handles and not let go. If you can't hang on tight, then you shouldn't ride.

Don't you wish you could do this...

Wet N' Wild Orlando
palmerleeberry replied to ETapley0687's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
"NOOOOO! Say it ain't so, Joe!!!" I've been to this park only a few times and I have always thought it was the greatest waterpark in Florida. Seeing this park closed would be a tragedy, not to mention a great loss for Orlando for the many fun attractions this park has. I'm hoping that this report is only a rumor that won't come true, but I have been to some fun spots in Orlando in the past that are defunct today. "Please stay open." -
Indiana Beach (IB) Discussion Thread
palmerleeberry replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
Well, those look like sweet seats to me. I hoping that whenever I get to ride such a coaster with those restraints as depicted, it should be a bit smoother than the old horsecollars from coaster past. (Me ridding Drachen Fire in 1992) -
Worst New Addition for 2007
palmerleeberry replied to coastermaniac's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
At Six Flags America, it was the addition of a game that took the place of a Tilt-a-Whirl ride that was the worst addition. SFA needs more rides, not less. -
Well. it could have been worst: he could have threw up his cookies on the ride, causing a shutdown as the ride ops clean up the mess. At least the peeing in his pants kept the mess contained. "Heh, heh, heh, I bet that ride was a real 'piss-ripper'!" Although I never seen anyone wet their pants, I did see a little kid wet his pants while waiting in line for the Scooby-Doo at Kings Dominion. At least this kid was wearing dark pants and it was a little raining at that time, so I guess no one else noticed it, except me - that is. "It's not my fault; the line was so long and I had that big drink and . . . THEY SHOULD HAVE PORT-A-POTTIES AT THE STATIONS!!!

As I was looking at this post and the pictures and the web site link, one thing was lingering in my mind: I'VE GOTTA RIDE THIS ONE!!! I'm sure this looks like a fun ride and should be on top of my "must ride in 2008" list. But I do have two questions about the Mountain Coaster: 1) Last year, I was at Ober Gatlinburg and I rode their alpine slide. Is this ride the same or different from alphine slide and is it much better? 2) How long is this Mountain Coaster?
