Tatsu really needs a fourth train for more frequent three train ops. I think Goliath needs to run three trains more often, but they can do that because one rehab cycle is four weeks on that ride. Apocalypse needs three trains, not just the two they currently own. Doesn't Batman only have two trains too?

When DC Universe reopens (including Batman, Green Lantern, two flats, and a shop and restaurant) crowds will definitely not be as bad for the entire park. I think X2 will just have the one to two hour line basically all summer, with the exception of a three hour line on Saturdays. I'm always surprised to see Goliath's line significantly over an hour, because it is easily the most efficient ride in the park. I hope they get train 3 running on Tatsu this summer. The one train operation per each station side is good until you move from the switchbacks to the station, from then it takes forever because its basically just like experiencing one train ops. I think I'll head out to the mountain next Sunday (seriously) and take a lap around to see how everything's going-- TR: 6/26/11 I predict I'll probably complain about how Apocalypse still has one train ops, Superman and Tatsu had terrible crews, and tell everyone I went on Riddler's 100 times via the single rider line. I'll probably be too lazy to take pictures and tell myself that I'll do it next trip. Maybe we'll mix it up and say Deja Vu was having an off GIB day, and was broken down until noon. DC Universe will probably look "good."

Why so many ride-attendants?

Longest dispatch time: Deja vu, first time opening for the 2011 season. They had two ops in the station. One per side then they switched off for who would have to go in the control area. Nightmare!! At least one more would have made the dispatches not eight minutes... -
DisneyParks Price Hikes

An interesting thing that a family member of mine shared with me as he was checking me into DCA for a park hopper ticket-- They have always had a rule where you can only sign in your family for free park tickets. The rule has never been strictly enforced. Supposedly now, park staff are on the lookout for employees checking in their friends. You can get fired if they catch you. If you do want to get your friends in, you have to be with them the entire time they are in the park. Family members are still free to go in without their family employee who checked them in present at all times. -
Visited DCA yesterday to ride the new Ariel ride-- All I have to say is that it's a very cool ride! The effects were very neat. It is absolutely another one of those rides that little kids and families would eat up and love. I haven't seen the movie for years, and was stunned when I couldn't remember if the movie ended as her being a human or mermaid. I was pleasantly surprised that we weren't dumped out into a gift shop on our way out. On top of everything, I didn't realize Ursula was so friggin fat. Got a bunch of rides for being their for a very short evening: -CA Screamin -Tower of Terror (x2) -Grizzly Rapids -Ariel -Soarin over CA Went over to Disneyland after and only got on Space Mountain, Buzz Lightyear, Indiana Jones (x2 -- it broke down and they let us ride twice), and the Jungle Cruise. I was tired, watched the fireworks, and decided to leave. Everything seemed to be running super smoothly (as it usually does for Disney parks). Didn't feel like waiting 120 minutes for the new Star Tours.

Don't try to overdo yourself with the rides you want to fit in. At Six Flags Magic Mountain a few years ago, there was a group of young adults who were planning the rest of their day (we were at lunch) at the table next to us. They had obviously been trying to cover every single ride in the park on a busy summer 100 degree day. As soon as I know it, one of the girls keeled over and fainted from the heat. The point: Don't try to fit in all the rides there. You can always come back later! Its certainly better planning another trip then suffering from heat strokes. (Or at least that's what I think )

Colossus, Revolution, and Log Jammer need new station buildings. I haven't checked on Roaring Rapids lately but I'm sure the station is looking a little tired. The Riddler's Revenge's facade looks like turds. There are sections torn off of the front of the building and the fake building by the entrance. Ninja's station looks like its going to splinter and fall apart (but the track and transfers sure look pretty). Sandblaster's building and Scrambler's line shade need new paint jobs. The Ben & Jerry's by Colossus looks old. Tatsu, Riddler's, Scream, and Colossus need new paint, but that's been established a while ago. Cyclone Bay's buildings look a little shabby. I think they recently refurbished Gold Rusher's station building, and it looks fine. Jet Stream also got a new tent for its loading dock and new paint on the entrance. The improvements in DC Universe cover Grinder Gearworks and Atom Smasher. All of the old Gotham area seems to be turning out great. Cyber Cafe, Food Etc, and the Johnny Rockets all are looking nice. The Orient Express stations got new paint. All of the newer coasters have good looking stations that have held up better then the old ones. Deja Vu, Superman, X, Goliath, Batman, and Tatsu's stations are all pleasant. At this point I think the only things that need an appearance uplift is everything mentioned. That and some serious gardening along most of the overgrown trees and bushes along paths. I think everything's theme is alright for now. I'd rather see them invest in the basic appearance rather then theming, but that's just my opinion. Not that I don't agree with people that say the place needs a better theme. I think with changes in themes comes better appearance, as shown by the new DC Universe.

TPR's Front Page - What do you like/dislike?
JJ728 replied to robbalvey's topic in Theme Parks, Roller Coasters, & Donkeys!
^That just seems a little too cluttered for me. I like it just the way it is, maybe a style change like fonts, colors, borders, or whatever. I really agree with what Sirclinksalot wrote, which was the front page is familiar and inviting. -
What Was The Last Coaster You Rode?

Revolution @ SFMM three days ago. Crappy ride. -
BMW... I want to at least save a couple bucks on gas. Run on the track or run on the street?

Riddler's was down to one train because one was under maintenance and the other was sent to New Jersey for Great Adventure's opening of Green Lantern. So they were left with one. Tatsu's one train lasted a couple weeks (maybe three? It wasn't long). But one of those weeks was over spring break. Whoops! Apocalypse's maintenance has dragged serious ass. Over President's weekend I remember not wanting to wait thirty minutes for it because it was down to one train. I think we may be approaching the 4 month mark on one train for that ride. I think Riddler's was one train from November to February as well. I was at the park yesterday (I don't even know why I went). It was crowded (of course). Got there at opening and hit Goliath, Colossus, Scream x2, Riddler's x2, Ninja, Tatsu, and Deja Vu before bailing. Deja Vu was closed all day until it reopened right as I walked past. It was definitely just a "GIB day problem." According to the op on the speakers, something was "sticking"? They had the entire Deja Vu plaza gated off the whole day until it opened. Superman's left side didn't open until after noon, and even then, both sides had sketchy operations. Line was out to Laughing Dragon's Pizza when I checked. Tatsu was running double stations, but with only two trains. Line was wrapping around the mountain, fluctuating between 2 and 2.5 hours. I don't the double station like that works very well because once the line splits, its one train operation from there on out. What was happening is the trains were loading at the same time, but one would dispatch and the other would have to wait for the block brakes to clear. So even though the train was loaded and ready for dispatch, it would sit in the station for a good 2-3 minutes before it went. The sitting trains caused the crew to be more slow then usual ( ). I think the double stations should only be used if there are three trains running, or if there are alternating dispatches WITHOUT a slow crew (heh-heh). It might have been more efficient to run two trains with one station, having 4 restraint checking ops and a lead.

Yeah, it's strange that they didn't change the color scheme after they changed the name and theme of the ride. But if they were going to change that, I'm assuming that they would have done it in a much earlier stage. According to the picture on SFMM's home page, they have changed the colors of the train and the supports to tan. (On the left it's the second bullet down). www.sixflags.com/magicMountain/index.aspx

I couldn't believe it either. I'm relatively sure it stands for "For The Win," but seriously... I was at the park on Sunday. Didn't take any pictures (not that I usually do either, which I should start doing more often). Pretty much everything that was to report has been reported. Green Lantern looks great, went on Tidal Wave just to take a closer look. Lots and lots of repainting done everywhere in the old backlot area. It's good to see all that effort going into a "tired" area of the park. Grinder Gearworks (aka Wonder Women) is gleaming with shiny blue paint that looks AWESOME! One train on Apocalypse, two on every other coaster (except Deja Vu of course). The left track of Superman opened at around noon. Went to the right towards Goliath at opening and got on everything on that half of the park with a walk on. Superman and Tatsu were about thirty minute waits each. Apocalypse and Deja Vu hovered between 40 minutes and an hour all day. Miserable operations on Deja Vu and Superman (I didn't see a car go up once when I was sitting on a bench waiting for someone in the restroom for 5 minutes). Clocked one Deja Vu run at about a seven minute dispatch... X2 was consistently around an hour wait, the switchback sections where the TVs are was full all day, but I'd say dispatches were decent with little stacking. Tatsu's switchbacks were about 2/3 full, but two trains kept the line moving surprisingly fast by Tatsu's usual standards.

The cliche that answers this question is: Mooseburger lodge is the only sit down restaurant in the park, and has a lot of options, many of which are on the healthier side. You can find some "lighter" food scattered through the park, but there isn't much. I think at Food Etc. by Goliath there might be some healthy choices. Cyber Cafe near the fountains at the front has "healthier" snacks. Otherwise the park has pizza, fried chicken, hamburgers, BBQ, or Chinese food.

Same, I can't wait to see what they do. Superman's return was predictable, but necessary. An overall good step forward for the park. Green Lantern was a "neato" move by SFMM, and a really creative addition to the collection of coasters. But I'm hoping for something on the scale of Tatsu. Who knows what will happen.
