  1. ^Count me in as one who agrees with you on the beauty and location of the park. The park as a whole won me over and is one of my favorites. Plus I find the skyline impressive as you exit I-44, especially with Screamin' Eagle's lift towering in the background.
  2. Worlds of Fun needs a sit down looper to replace Orient Express.
  3. Millennium Force coming out of the overbanked turn after the first drop. Coming out of the second loop on Laser at Dorney Park I only experienced a very slight grey out on 305 The helix on Goliath at SFMM
  4. The painting of the original slides really gave Soak City a whole new look a couple year's ago though I would agree that it is lacking a bit compared to other water parks. Kings Island's Soak City seems much more complete and well-rounded.
  5. ^^IIRC there's one at Beto Carrero World in Brazil. ^There are times I still find it strange that Demon Drop is missing from CP's skyline.
  6. Doesn't Darien have a relatively cheap season pass compared to some of the other corporate parks?
  7. ^^I was referring to the water park that used to be part of Geauga Lake, not Dorney Park.
  8. Cedar Point - 1 hr Waldameer - 1.5 hr Kennywood - 2 hr Runner up - Kings Island - 3.5 to 4 hr
  9. Maybe they should just shut down Wildwater Kingdom and move Liquid Lightning (Proslide Tornado) and Thunder Falls (Whitewater tube/body slide complex) to CP. It seems they don't have any desire to add anything there.
  10. I really am liking the look of this park and I especially love that Cyclone/Vortex coaster. It seems like such a big expenditure for a smaller park.
  11. Wow, that's quite an impressive looking tower. Love the colors. I wonder how far outside the park can you see it.
  12. As stated Mean Streak from any angle and Son of Beast, especially from Flight Deck's station are/were awe inspiring. I also have to add SFGAm's American Eagle as you drive under Washington Street on I-94 and see the massive helix near the road and SFMM's Colossus from the parking lot. As for steel I'd say Phantom's Revenge from the parking lot and Intimidator at Carowinds as you exit I-77.
  13. I absolutely LOVE that aerial shot of Screamin' Eagle. It was my favorite ride when I visited in 2010 and running great. When and why did they remove the double up after the far turn?
  14. Batman is a good ride but it's also a bit on the intense side. If you're not ready for something like that then Bizarro would be the best choice. Plus Bizarro has seven inversions and once you've conquered them you can ride any looping coaster.
  15. Surprised no one mentioned Predator at Darien Lake even though it's rumored to become Lake Monster. At this point who knows if and when that's going to happen.
  16. The bottom of the first drop and the left turn to the second hill used to have misters at one time.
  17. Waldameer. Even if it's an off-the-shelf model a Gerstlauer Euro-fighter wuold be a fine complement to RFII and pretty much complete their coaster lineup.
  18. Only new to me coaster was Gatekeeper, which is better in the dark. My favorites: 1. Maverick 2. (tied) Beast and Diamondback at night back in October 3. Music Express at Waldameer
  19. That is the one thing I hate on Beast. I wish they'd get rid of those speakers and the annoying music as I feel it takes away from the ride (I know it's just on the lift but I'd rather hear the classic sound of the anti-rollbacks over the music). Too bad B&M lifts are loud as I'd think the banshee scream would be cool right as the train disengages from the lift, making it sound like the banshee has taken control of the train.
  20. Adventure Express is my favorite followed by River King Mine Train and Carolina Goldrusher. Worst - Dahlonega Mine Train due to the restraints being a bit too tight.
  21. Stand-ups were pretty much created during the 80's when gimmicky rides were what parks needed to draw attention. It was the age of the mega multi-looper, suspended coaster, Ultra Twister and Space Diver. If we didn't have the stand up coaster now it would have eventually been created. I'm not a huge fan of the stand-up but I would take a stand up coaster over a flyer anyday. My favorite is Georgia Scorcher and I'd like to see more rides like it if more are built.
  22. Cedar Point - looks like something already cooking based on what people have seen in the video (I have not seen it yet). I have a feeling something may be removed to make way for whatever it is. Waldameer - the pushed back plans for the wave pool seem pretty much a go for 2015 but that project has been pushed back a couple of times already. If it does get pushed back again I 'd like to see a Zamperla Air Race put in since the park doesn't have anything that inverts (plus the park seems to have a good relationship with Zamperla already). Kennywood - 2015 will be three years since Black Widow and if Waldameer doesn't get the Zamperla Air Race first, I think Kennywood would be a great park to put one in (maybe in Volcano's spot or the former King Kahuna location). What if BGW were to turn that into a brand new country, like for instance, Greece? You already have Apollo's Chariot in that area. Roman Rapids would have to be renamed.
  23. ^LOL. You never disappoint, Chuck.
  24. Had a dream last night I was at Kennywood and the wood coaster in the dream (it wasn't a coaster that already exists there) had a two car train that appeared to be going much faster than it should have. The train went around the trun around and as it was to begin the drop off the turn the upstop wheels borke through the wood track and the train fell off the track. It seems a lot of coaster related dreams I have involve trains derailing.
