  1. ^KI's is probably the best of the former Scooby Doo shooters, but I prefer the Scooby Doo ride at Six Flags St. Louis (the one with the boats).
  2. ^That's a good way to look at it. BGW started out "small" with their Christmas Town, and have been expanding it each year since. I hope it goes well for Tampa, too.
  3. I live in Williamsburg, and I wouldn't even consider going to Busch Gardens here on a Saturday night for either Howl-o-Scream or Christmas Town. (And if I was forced to go on a Saturday, I'd get there early and expect crowds--BGW has hit capacity for the last few Saturday nights.) So, while it's unfortunate that you had so many problems, you might want to consider the night you were attending.
  4. ^My god! It's Bizarro Disneyland!
  5. ^He does get around, doesn't he?
  6. ^Having to know assume some special sort of "riding position" outside of buckling your seat belt and making sure your lap bar is down spoils the fun for me. I'll go along with the "magic seat" idea in some cases (the second-to-the-last seat on Georgia Cyclone comes to mind).
  7. The irony would be complete if the building sprinkler system failed to work.
  8. This is the first Buddha I've ever seen with a pencil-thin mustache. So, why did they use the name "Black Hole Coaster" for the looper? Is the loop painted black, or something?
  9. I'll go along with the ever-so-trippy Nights in White Satin. It was definitely the best thing at Hard Rock Park, and the weirdest idea for a dark ride since Superstar Limo.
  10. Rather bizarre. Anyone have any idea who exactly picked up the rights to the song when the park went Bankrupt? Interesting. I'd assumed they'd used an edited version of the original song (not a new version of it).
  11. ^^I recall Chimelong Paradise being described as a good version of Six Flags park during the TPR trip, but I don't remember who said it. Golden Horse does a pretty fair version of Vekoma Mine Train coaster (a little "clunkier," but pretty much the same). Operations in most Chinese parks leave a lot to be desired, since some of their policies (such as staggered opening times for rides) actually seem to encourage long lines. You might find some interesting information in my ongoing China Trip Report (in-between my usual nonsense).
  12. ^He didn't factor in the ambulance ride following his last turn on Ghostrider, so he ran out of time.
  13. Are you posting this while in traction? I do applaud you for your endurance.
  14. The fridges got cut from the budget. They just stuff everyone in giant Glad bags painted to look like Kelvinators.
  15. ^I'm not a big fan of the Stealth/Kingda Ka type of Intamin launched coasters, either. Xcelarator, Storm Runner, Rita, Speed Monster, and Superman Escape are all much better.
  16. This is the time of the year for Kings Dominion to hand out oversized checks. Kudos to the park for their generosity to good causes! Kings Dominion Vice President and General Manager Pat Jones ® presents the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF) Capitol Chapter Executive Director Piper Dankworth © with an $18,982 donation to help save lives and find a cure for type 1 diabetes, Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012. Thanks to the support from Kings Dominion guests and JDRF sponsors, $2.00 from all tickets sold under the JDRF program was donated to the foundation. Also pictured is Kings Dominion Director of Finance Owen Matthews (l).
  17. ^He looks seriously annoyed by the snow. Looks like a job for Heat Miser!
  18. This brings up one of my pet peeves with some coaster enthusiasts: "So-and-so is OK if you KNOW HOW to ride it." Show we a ride where specialized knowledge or techniques are required for survival, and I'll show you one lousy, wretched ride. Larry speaks the truth.
  19. Temporary or not, you won't catch me riding the damn thing.
  20. Every ride needs a Lava Monster! It's hard to top how Journey quickly winds its way back to the surface, too--no to mention that nice pop of air when you emerge from the cave.
  21. This, by itself, is a major improvement, but the whole refurb looks excellent. Definitely looking forward to riding Test Track again.
  22. ^You'd most likely get the same answer--no. Robb has already posted in this thread that BGW won't permit wrist- or chest-mounted GoPro cameras.
