I might would guess a "Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular" or just a bunch of paintjobs (Anaconda, Shockwave, ect). I do think a Windseeker would have been a cool addition to KD if it was in Old VA. It would balance the parks skyline and finally give the drivers on 95 a cool view.

Hahaha exactly! I love it with or without trims. With and without trims both have their advantages and disadvantages. The ride still kicks ass no matter what!

Same. Out of the 12 years its been open... I've never heard one complaint about that at all, not one! Its very smooth IMO and another Intamin success. The random launch after going around the first little turn slowly always gets my adrenaline pumping!

WOOO! Intimidator 305 is my #1 even with the restrictor plates. I actually like the 2nd half of the ride MUCH better now (w/ the restrictor plates) because of the nice ejector air on the 3rd hill and not going through the "twisties" as fast. The new restraints are the best OSTR's ever, IMO!

I'm so jealous of the ERT on 305 and back-stage tour! Great pics though! Glad you all had a good time at KD!

From the top of 305's lift hill you really DO realize how high up you are because there is nothing to look at besides miles of VA farmland/woods. Its kind of like how on top of MF all you mostly see is miles of water.

Hope you guys have a blast! Would have loved to go, but classes start Monday! Please get as much 305 ERT as possible! I'm sooo jealous...

I think I actually like the second half of the ride (after the 2nd hill) much better now because you hit the transitions at the near perfect speed and the airtime on the 3rd hill is fantastic where as before it was interrupted by the trims on that hill. I know it has been said many times... but the ride would be perfect IMO if they could put the trims right after the 2nd hill. That way you could have the freefall, 95+ MPH turn, ejector air, hit some trims trims, and go into the "twisties" & 3rd hill like the ride does now!

If ejector/insane airtime is what you are looking for... you would have loved the ejector air on the 2nd hill pre-trims! But... I'm not sure how much I would enjoy that ejector/insane airtime with these restraints... Hmmm??? I think the air you get on the 3rd hill now is the perfect amount for those restraints IMO!

When I was there last Thursday and Friday I was actually getting some floater air on the 2nd hill (which is decent airtime... but compared to how it used to have MAJOR ejector air there, it makes gradual floater air just seem alright) when sitting in the front and back (the middle sucks compared to the front & back) all day long. The 3rd hill now provides incredible airtime since the trims were put on the drop. Overall, it is still my #1 coaster by far... which explains my username. Every time I ride 305, I ride 2nd row (the higher up seating makes it seem like the front with 1/10 of the wait!) or back-row.

Volcano @ Kings Dominion is a rare coaster credit if you only visit the park once because you have to worry about it being down OR having a 2 hour line. Usually, if someone is doing a one-time trip to the park and they get to ride Volcano they should consider themselves very lucky!

They tend to ALWAYS do this on weekdays for 305. I personally think it is either because of the melting wheels/wheel cost OR the park's marketing standpoint. My guess is that they don't want their new 25 million dollar giga coaster not having a line. I know for us coaster enthusiasts, we love the fact that there is no line and when rides are walk-on, but when you think about it from the parks standpoint, that doesn't look good for first-time clueless riders who do not understand why the newest ride in the park doesn't have a line. Usually (atleast from my experiences), even with one train on a weekday, the wait is only 5-15 minutes WHICH IS TOTALLY WORTH IT. I always ride the ride back-row or 2nd row! 2nd row is just like front row because the seats are up higher and you can totally see over the first row and you still get all the wind in your face, but the line is about 1/10 as long. The backrow almost makes you forget about the trims... I ride 305 5 times each day I visit the park.

I believe I have been on Mystery Mine @ Dollywood the most with Intimidator 305 @ KD being right behind it! I rode Hurricane and Wild Mouse @ the Myrtle Beach Pavilion many times back before they tore the wonderful place down, but never kept count... I never constantly re-rode them like MM or 305 though! Hopefully, before coaster season is over, I will have ridden 305 more than any other coaster I have been on... in just 1 season!

Top 3: 1) Splash Mountain @ WDW's Magic Kingdom 2) Pirates of the Caribbean @ WDW's Magic Kingdom 3) Daredevil Falls @ Dollywood (IDK why I love this particular ride so much, but I think it is because how it fits in with its surroundings/theme. Plus, the drop reminds me of Splash Mountain's!) HM) River Battle @ Dollywood (It may look like a kiddie ride, but it is a blast to squirt people who don't want to get wet, but they get on the ride for some reason? Plus, good theme/feel for the Wilderness Pass section @ DW)

I was there all day Thursday and Friday and they were just slightly pushing around dirt, so its nothing to get excited about. But, I did notice something interesting... On the "gravel road" behind 305, an old Kings Dominion truck was driving on it. It was old because it had the parks FIRST logo on the side of it and looked like the one you see in the movie Rollercoaster. On KDFansite we were discussing about a train going from the 305 area to the Hurler area. A guy can only wish...

I'm glad you e-mailed the reporter, I think I might do the same. I also forgot to mention the Drachen Fire part. Geeezzz... You could find out the answer to both of the major mistakes in less than 2 minutes by just checking it out on Google...

Well according to the clueless media about coasters, my local newspaper (The Roanoke Times) claimed that Griffon "plummets nearly 500 feet into the park's Rhine River". So according to these guys, Griffon is the tallest coaster in the world and first drop goes right above the park's Rhine RIver. Are you kidding me?!?!

Just a minor mistake for Kings Dominion's Haunt attraction line-up. Club Blood is in Huler's Structure and not Grizzly's. KD's Haunt seems like its going to be awesome this year. I can't wait to check it out, the new mazes/former mazes locations all go with the section now mostly (especially the Doll Factory in the former "KidZville Construction Company). I love the new "scare zone"... The Ruins. I was at KD today and while walking through the Congo I was thinking of all of the cool things they could do.

I was going to wait until tomorrow night to do a full trip report of my two-day trip... BUT I had to get on here tonight to talk about this very weird experience with 305. Today around 12:30 I was the next train to ride in the back-row (one train operations just on 305, rest of coasters were 2+ trains ), and the troubles began... The riders all got strapped in and were checked and "All Clear" to go, they were forced to un-buckle their seat belts and raise their restraints, the riders all got strapped in AGAIN and were checked and "All Clear" to go, they were forced to un-buckle their seat belts AGAIN and raise their restraints. Then the ride-operator in the booth made an announcement to SWITCH sides with the passenger beside you!!! The riders all got strapped in and were checked and "All Clear" to go, and they finally started their engines! WTF is with that?! I have never seen OR heard such a thing. They were forced to do strap in 3 times and switch sides with the person beside them. I asked the ride-op who stands by the back-row queue line about what it was about and she said "Have no clue, but it worked!" Hahaha! BTW, 305 with straps is one of the best rides ever and makes you forget about the trims because you are looking forward to the kick-booty "twisties" and ejector air 3rd hill so much and IMO the best coaster in America... Not even being a KD fanboy... for once. Oh, and today the ride seemed to be going faster than normal because it was flying over the second hill compared to how it usually crawls IMO.

Going to Kings Dominion tomorrow and Friday! Hoping lines won't be that bad. I only have been Opening Day/Weekend and one other weekend this year, so we are doing a Thurs./Fri. trip to try to avoid some of the crowds. I usually only go once/twice a year, but 305 has convinced me to keep going back. This will be my last trip before the HAUNT! Plus, I don't think I've ever been to an amusement park/theme park on Friday the 13th! BTW, KD has announced that they are releasing HAUNT information on Friday the 13th!

Wow! This is awesome, especially for the original RCT! I love all the details! Dragon looks amazing! I wouldn't change a thing about the whole park except for maybe the entrance/exit of the Pirate Ship... Great job so far! Can't wait for more!

This seems like an attraction many people say they would love to do... until they get to the Stratosphere, look up, and freak out! Haha! It seems like it would be a ton of fun and worth the money even though its a 20 second drop. BTW, Great PTR!
