Volcano at Kings Dominion IMO is a bit underrated. I have never been on a coaster that gets your heart beating that fast. The way you leave the station and slowly creep around the corner over the water and rocks not knowing when exactly you are going to blast 70 MPH through the mountain with your legs flying back scares me to death. Once you burst out of the mountain upside down the ride is "okay", but that first half is fantastic!

For some reason... this made me laugh... a lot! I wonder when they will make the announcement now? If memory serves me correctly, I believe Dick Kinzel said "mid-August", so it will probably be made within the next 2 weeks.

I should be disappointed that they didn't make the announcement, but I love Cedar Point for getting a lot of peoples hope up, and then just stuffing the box full of cookies...

I hope this never happens in America for 2 reasons... 1) I would never want to ride the coaster again... 2) Imagine the man-boobs flying/bouncing up on airtime hills.

Is it me or did they name almost every single ride in an amusement park? I love the last one... "Roller Coaster", that is sooo specific!

Gotta love Central Virginia weather! I'll be leaving for KD next week and will be at the park on Thursday and Friday for my 3rd visit to the park this year (thanks to 305 of course...). Going by weather.com it looks like its going to be 98 and 97. KD better get the drinks ready! Of course it has to be better than my last coaster trip to Dollywood in 100 degree heat in the humid Smoky Mountains!

I would like to say the GP has some sort of clue about coasters, but out of some of the experiences I've had I cannot do that. At Disney World in Magic Kingdom someone was looking for Expedition Everest (which is at Animal Kingdom!) and actually meant Big Thunder Mountain Railroad. Also at Disney World in Magic Kingdom someone was looking for Rock 'n' Roller Coaster (which is at HW Studios!) and actually meant Space Mountain. I could go on and on about the stories I have had with the confused GP in amusement/theme parks, but seriously, not everyone knows everything about coasters... Most of us do not know everything about something as random as boats do we?!?! It is the same thing...

They are only closed the rest of the season for KD to build a Haunt maze in the Dodgem building (probably Medieval Macabre). The Dodgems last day of operation each year is the last day of July. They will open back up with the park next spring! And KDcoasterMAN, I figured a new maze would go there... I just wish that they put something there during the regular season next year instead of it not being used except for the Haunt.

I never thought I would say this but... I'm glad Kings Dominion got Hurler and Kings Island got SOB, because atleast people haven't gotten hurt and it is open!

It doesn't have to be a coaster to use that name, remember there was a rumor (even on Screamscape) saying that they might possibly get a star-flyer reaching the heights of TTD. Since Dragster and Kingda Ka are 400+ ft. rides, they are considered to be a strata-coaster, so maybe if this ride is 400+ ft. it will be considered a strata-ride and use the name Stratosoar? Just thinking...

Yeah, I guess they figured a queue line into the woods and gigantic rock grizzly bear statue was enough for people to figure it out that it was Grizzly for a while, then they got a new sign about midway through summer.

IMO they aren't terrible once you are in them, but getting in and out is nearly impossible for me, especially when it comes to beating up your knees! (I am 6'1"... I do not know how people taller than that are able to get in and out of them!)

That seems like a likely possibility, or the maze will go in the former KidZville Construction Company building (former Chairlift station). Or Big Top Terror will move to the former KidZville Construction Company building and Maze Of Madness will be located in the old Lazer Quest building.

The simple solution would be to build another gray Haunt Maze building like Club Blood and Toxic Plague have. Here is a quick sketch of the idea I have: Alien Outpost/FOF Remain Open Solution

My favorite trains are the ones found on the B&M hypers Behemoth, Diamondback, and Intimidator. I do not like hyper trains with 4 in a row like on Apollo's Chariot... They should be switched the other type and maybe my opinion of Apollo's Chariot might be fantastic like almost everyone elses, but for now, I still think Apollo's Chariot is very overrated. I also really enjoy Intimidator 305's new and improved trains with the simple red lapbar and black straps! I love B&M floorless coasters rising/lowering floor, it is a very cool concept to watch, but besides the floor, the train is okay...

Cedar Fair doesn't care about size... Planet Snoopy @ KD has two rides, a splash zone, and a theater... THATS IT, they were too lazy to retheme the whole kiddie area...

They have not released any information yet besides the teasers on Facebook and Twitter, keep an eye out for it once you see Haunt advertisements popping up throughout the park such as the hearse in front of the park. They should/will release it sometime in August. If the rumors I have heard are true, they are turning the former KidZville Construction Company Playground building (that was once used for the chairlift) into a Haunt building, so that is one new one if the rumor is true!

Dollywood's Mystery Mine is definitely the best experience IMO. 90 degree lift hill in the dark, "movie clip", stop, hang, EXPLOSION, beyond vertical drop into darkness, burst outside, barrel roll, barrel roll!

I'm pretty sure Kings Dominion ran out of time to paint Anaconda before the season started, so they just painted that to look good from 305's plaza. I remember their Facebook saying Volcano & Anaconda were getting painted over the offseason about a week before the park opened. In order to paint the ride once the season started, they would have had to drain the lake again, painted the whole ride, and filled the lake back up. I wish they just paint Anaconda solid black with black cars so it doesn't take away from the pretty giga behind it! I do not want a Carolina Cyclone paint job at KD! Anaconda's color scheme was fine before they got the red and yellow 305 foot monster behind it. Now the two color schemes do not look well next to each other. Back on topic... Shockwave and Carolina Cyclone are the worst color schemes, IMO.
