  1. Atleast you guys got some grass, mulch, and greenery! When they removed Hypersonic XLC... it was replaced with asphalt and a wooden fence!
  2. One reason I'm having doubts for Great America is that Cedar Fair wouldn't even spend the little amount of money to give them a Starlight Spectacular this year. NOTHING at all for the park this year? Especially after removing Invertigo, which was an ALRIGHT coaster at most, but at CGA it was one of their best ones... Just some shows? C'mon! I can't remember the last time any other former Paramount park got absolutely nothing.
  3. ^ Another good review! I haven't heard a negative review about the new version yet! That's shocking... Even those who complained like crazy when the trims were on the drop seem to be loving it once again! Here is a good photo trip report from CoasterFusion! http://coasterfusion.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?11556.post CoasterFusion Photo.
  4. AGREED! But the real question is, will the whimps complain about the ride or will the "black-out" reputation intimidate (no pun intended) them not to ride? If the park doesn't get complaints, I doubt the trims will return! From those videos, 305 looks kind of strange from the top of the Eiffel Tower, haha... I can't wait to head over to Kings Dominion NEXT WEEKEND to ride it!
  5. I don't think so because if you look closely in the bottom left hand corner of the picture below (CoasterSkinny Facebook Photo) it looks like its still the same colors and that they painted some of the station to go along with the trains. BTW, the new signage looks GREAT compared to before! Also, here is a picture (CoasterSkinny Facebook Photo) of Intimidator 305's new turn. It looks AWESOME and is supposedly an even better ride now! Can't wait to try it out next weekend! It's devastating I couldn't make it this weekend, haha! CoasterSkinny Facebook Photo. CoasterSkinny Facebook Photo.
  6. The place looks great! It's great that Disney does things like this, it makes me appreciate that $80+ admission to WDW a bit more knowing that the company does stuff like this!
  7. From that video you can tell that Intimidator 305's turn inclines to about 75 feet before entering the 2nd hill and rising another 75 feet. So basically the 2nd hill will be like the 3rd hill going up (which is 75 feet), but coming down you will drop 150 feet. AWESOME! Oh and Shockwave, Triple Spin, and the Grove look beautiful! Its going to be a great year for Kings Dominion... Can't wait!
  8. I wouldn't be shocked if KD saw one in 2012 at all if they are a success this year for Knotts, CP, CW, and KI. They need something big to attempt to compete with Busch Gardens' launch coaster, and considering they just got a giga coaster, I could see a Windseeker being a smart choice (not very expensive either). I actually hope we get on in 2012!
  9. I wonder if this light show will not reference the Peanuts at all? Its called just simply "Starlight Spectacular" instead of "Snoopy's Starlight Spectacular" like Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Knotts, and Kings Island. I know Cedar Point's is just called "Starlight Experience" but it does include a ton of Peanuts stuff... Hmmm?
  10. I know many if not all of you will probably disagree with me, but I feel like this park could be a success if things are done right, especially if someone local with common sense bought it who knows what the tourists want in the area. Low ticket prices (or even free admission with wristbands or tickets), good advertising, public transportation from the beach to the park, deals with hotels that aren't a ripoff, a reasonable season pass price, and a few more thrill & kiddie rides come to mind! Another thing that would have to be done would be to turn the place into an amusement park and not a theme park...
  11. Yeah, I do the same at every park I go to. I get 3 maps/brochures just to keep, Haha! But I snagged 6 KD ones yesterday!
  12. The 2011 Kings Dominion brochure is out! Kings Dominion 2011 Brochure
  13. Looking good! Kings Dominion Facebook Photo
  14. I went to Kings Dominion 6 times last year (so 12 visits) and the lights in FOF were the same were about the same each time I rode. They just had on a FEW green/purple/yellow lights on the floor that shined up on random pieces of track. I personally found the lights to enhance the experience because you were still in the dark for the most part, but they lit up some of the headchoppers, which made me want to duck down. The strobes are in the very beginning of the launch tunnel when you first take off.
  15. I know many will probably disagree, but I love the new colors! They won't fade anywhere near as bad as the neon puke colors did. The green and teal will go well in the Grove because there is actually some green and teal paint throughout that area of the park. I can't wait to see the station painted... because it looked rediculous with the neon colors. Can't believe I'm saying this, but nice choice Cedar Fair!
  16. My favorite flats at Kings Dominion are Drop Tower, the Crypt, Flying Eagles, and Beserker! Heck in my opinion, Drop Tower is one of the scariest rides in the park along with Intimidator 305 and Volcano!
  17. I agree with Robb! I live within 4 hours 15 minutes of Kings Dominion, Carowinds, Busch Gardens, and Dollywood. Kings Dominion and Carowinds are exactly 3 hours away from my house and Busch Gardens and Dollywood are 4 hours 15 minutes away from my house. I consider myself to be VERY lucky to have two great amusement parks and two great theme parks so close! Each have their own "personality" and are so unique. Some may call me crazy, but Kings Dominion and Dollywood are my favorites out of the four. I visit them two MUCH more than Carowinds or Busch ever since KD & Dollywood have greatly improved their coaster selections (Dominator, Intimidator 305, Thunderhead, Mystery Mine) . With the addition of Intimidator 305, I made the 3 hour trip to Kings Dominion (I book a hotel room each time I go so I can go two days in a row) 6 times this year (4 more than 2009)! I just am so greatful to have a giga-coaster at my home park, and in my opinion, one much BETTER than Millenium Force! I would have never guessed it in my wildest dreams that KD would get such a ride. I was fortunate to ride it 25 times this season, and can't wait to ride it 25+ more times in 2011! It is my overall #1 coaster, not just because I'm a KD fanboy, but because it packs in intensity, transitions, high speed turns, airtime, and a 300 foot drop in ONE ride. I don't really understand the people (especially the locals since they still had a world class top 10 ride in their backyards) who complained about the trims... sure the ride went from the one of the most intense and insane rides on the planet, to an intense awesome ride. All that the trims did was provide a ride that you didn't have to hold on for your life for (like pre-trims) and you could actually keep your hands up... some complained about the airtime, but with the trims on the drop instead of the 3rd hill, you could actually get good air on the 3rd hill. Both versions had their advantages and disadvantages. I thought the best change to the ride were the kick-ass restraint straps. I love those! Best OTSRs EVER (IMO)! Sure, I can't wait to ride 305 without the trims again to fly over the second hill, but I never once thought to myself that I was pissed off because of the trimmed 305. I would say it took off about 7-9 MPH with the trims (since it was still "unofficial" of how fast it went). I imagine it was going about 85-87 MPH, but it still gave you one of the most thrilling experiences ever! Oh and don't argue with me that it was more than 7-9 MPH because it was just my opinion.
  18. ITS OFFICIAL... Best New Roller Coaster of 2010: INTIMIDATOR 305 http://themeparks.about.com/od/themeparkbests/ss/Best-Theme-Parks-2010_4.htm About.com Image
  19. All this hype is going to lead into something like the return of the ANTIQUE CARS which will travel through the woods!
  20. Nice to see that you went to "The Top of The Rock" instead of the Empire State building. I personally like the view and experience better at Rockefeller Center than the Empire State Building! I just recently went up to NYC at the end of November/first of December. I had a great time and can't wait to go back!
  21. ^ I suppose you are right Robb. They are rediculous even without us doing anything! The polls are closed and KINGS DOMINION won by more than 500 votes! I checked the polls right before they were closed and the totals were... Intimidator- Carowinds (7249) 45% Intimidator 305- Kings Dominion (7792) 49% GOOD JOB TPR!
  22. Please vote for 305 TPR members! Not only will it help the better coaster win, it will also pi$$ off all those TPR/Robb haters! It only takes 2 clicks!
  23. I would definitely have to say NIGHTHAWK at Carowinds... First of all, I waited 2 hours to ride the stupid thing, it broke down 3 times while in line, and then it was nothing but a rattling, painful, boring ride. Heck, I enjoyed Hurler more than Nighthawk!
  24. Unfortunately, that is not possible... The ride is closed because of all of the incidents, so I understand why people "bash" it continuously.
